There was a time when you could sit in with your favorite guitar player if the conditions were right.Mike was a real gentleman, raised to respect everyone.I met him, and changed a broken string for him in 1977,I think. He just didn't have any ego hangup, which is probably the reason everybody took advantage of him.I wish that I could really have got to know him..R.I.P. MIKE

I still listen to this album. The beauty of "Yellow Bell"! That bass solo by Glenn Moore was so well done. This album was a big change in the Oregon sound. More powerful and focused. Their latest CD Lantern (their 30th!) is the latest expression of this.

My go to version of this song. Album is awesome, live version gives me goosebumps

The first band to make “world music” that didn’t suck, huge props to everybody involved. If New Age music carried this kind of weight in the 80’s it would have survived.

in '65 i saw art play this free jazz tune on local phila. jazz show. my father, once a swing clarinetist, hated it. as he changed channels during the interview, i only caught the title and the saxist's first name. about 20 years later i read art's book. he was very under the influence of trane, as well as acid during this phase of his career. though not representative of his output, 'he trip' was still in his book when he played Fat Tuesday's in New York.

When the album title DISTANT HILLS I was working in Hollywood and found out in a Tower Records that Oregon will performing I. The WILSHIRED Theater so we purchase tickets and it was a Incredible Performance RT, CW, GM and 4 th guy!

Song of my soul first heard in early 70s on FM by Jim Pepper. Found Winter Light with this song, which took me on a journey with Oregon. Still have Winter Light and this album, but no working turntable, so, thank you.
