    As a long time friend of The Barnum, Circus historian, and fan, I'd like to congratulate you on a fine video, and lol....make a couple of corrections. The "painting" done by Howle is a self portrait of Howle who simulated Emmett's character. There were no rolling cages inside the big top. To get the big cats in and out there was a chute that connected the outside rolling cages to the arena. The stairs over the chute were not adequate to evacuate that quarter of the tent in less than ten minutes. The fire was re-investigated using modern techniques and it was determined that the "discarded cigarette" theories were not possible. Since the arsonist Segee was present the day of the fire (his alibi disproved) it leaves us with Segee and there are many reasons it is believed that he set the fire.... There are many reasons that Segee was never brought back to CT to face charges after the re-investigation. Having looked into the matter myself, I'll mention one reason: It became obvious that the State and the City were more than happy to have the circus sign off as the responsible party within the first few days, a move that the circus decided upon in order to get back on the road and begin to pay claims resulting from the fire. (The Show Must Go On!) Their only alternative was to go out of business. A proper "investigation" was not conducted. The "Accidental" fire theory prevailed. I have seen in the records references to collecting evidence at the point of origin but never has such evidence surfaced. I feel it important that people know that the fire was not accidental. Having met Emmett Kelly personally I'd add, he was a very charming fellow and as a circus fan for over 50 years, I've not met a single clown I'd ever call even remotely creepy...that is something Hollywood created - much to the chagrin of the great clowns I have enjoyed.

    Would you be able to do a video about the show at the palace theater in Waterbury CT? I went to their ghost hunt and they say that they’ve gotten evidence of the ghost of the elephant that passed from falling into the stage.

    • @kisses5499
      @kisses5499 24 дня назад

      If I remember correctly They said before the circus was coming Harry Houdini had a show before and they had a trap door added for his performance and it just patched up so when the circus came and the animals paraded by the elephant fell through. They said she still haunts the stage.

      @@kisses5499 Thanks so much for the suggestion! If I know the story - I think Houdini came in the 1920s and the elephant fell through some years later. But, it is an interesting story to explore. I will place it at the top of the "to write and film" list! Thanks again!

      @@DarynReyman-Lock yes they said it happened a few years after his performance. I highly suggest reading the book "The Magnificent Scufflers". It's about how American folk style wrestling started in Vermont as collar-and-elbow wrestling from Irish immigrants. It was very popular in northern New England. Eventually it moved to New York and morphed into a catch as catch can wrestling. As it traveled to the western states, more rules were modified until it was set in stone in Oklahoma at, what is now, Oklahoma State University. There is some truth to the concept that pro-wrestling started in county faires and circuses. Usually, what happened is that the "undefeated" wrestler employed by the promoter would lose to a local guy. The professional would not give it his all and lose. Word would spread all of the county that a local guy beat the champ. So, of course, a rematch was in order and the place was sold out. Then, the true skills of the professional were on display and he wins the rematch and the promotion makes a lot of money.

    I don't think he realized that Iranistan is an insult to Persian's sovereignty. Iran is a conglomeration of provinces ending with -istan representing the ethnicity of the locals allied to form Iran, i.e. Kurdistan, Baluchistan, Loristan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, etc. some of which are now considered provinces of the greater Iran. Iran, thus can never be Iranistan.
