I don't know nothing in programming, but a depth of field mask should do the trick. This way you can tune the view distance with blur, but we need a dev for this

@Dee-Jay I tried something using ReShade, just as a mere proof of concept. There are some issues: you cannot use MSAA (I believe because ReShade can't read the depth map when MSAA is enabled), the blur isn't confined within the NVG circle (you need to apply DOF only within a circular mask), and the JHMCS is affected by the blur, but I think in reality, you cannot use both together. ruclips.net/video/5I7IzjDRRgU/видео.html

It's different... Dcs offers great graphics, lots of aircraft, easy pvp multiplayer. Bms offers better ai, bigger theaters, deeper systems simulation, the incredibile dynamic campaign (in single, in co-op multiplayer or even pvp if there are community servers available). Dcs is a bit more arcade, with the focus on cinematics and variety, bms is a deep dive into the air combat pilot world, with manuals of hundreds of pages to read.

For starting I recommend youtubers like Aviation Plus or Fisgas Fighties which have very good tutorials, and check the Falcon Lounge on Discord, that is full of nice people (dev included) that can help you in everything. And don't forget the huge manuals in the Falcon BMS directory

@@evilangel_1919 But isn't DCS still realistic enough that actual fighter pilots use it for training? Also, what about that F-22 that snuck up behind the two Iranian F-4s? Clearly he was within close enough distance to bump his wingtips against theirs and yet their radars couldn't see him!

​@@WinVisten I don't know what happened in detail, but even a C-130 can approach a fighter from behind and not be seen on the radar. DCS offers a lot of realism inside the cockpit, but it depends on the plane, and their F-16 is very lacking. I know that the USAF is training with the DCS A-10, and I can understand why, but their training is limited to specific tasks, and I'm sure they don't train by flying in an online server doing deathmatches (which is 90% of DCS flying). Offline campaigns are all scripted and become boring after a while, whereas the BMS dynamic campaign still shines after hundreds of missions.

Yea, the f-22 is a monster, ingame and in real life. But I think the j-20 could be a worth opponent, it still has a good stealthiness and the pl-15 is a scary missile

They may even build a nice plane, but the strength of western air forces lies in the interconnection of complex systems. AWACS, tankers, ground radars, drones, even naval and ground forces are capable of sharing information in the same datalink. We can launch a missile without a radar lock, only via datalink! You need to build the same system net, a stealth plane is just one little link in the long chain.. Good luck for all of this!

How one use the camera views to look at ground/air battles while parked at the ramp. I'm aware of the external views. But not how one watch warfare on the other side of the map.

@@rakamora2266 i dont remember exact buttons. But i do remember you need to hold shift, alt or ctrl. Whilst clicking one of the camera buttons. If i remember correctly its the normal number keys. I believe if you press 6, you can look at your own fired weapon. If you press shit+6 you can look at a weapon fired by a friendly unit. If you press ctrl+6 you can look at a weapon fired AT you, if you press alt+6 you can look at fired enemy weapons.

@@evilangel_1919 Don't listen to him, BMS is awesome as an F-16 sim. I'm more of a DCS fan, but BMS is really notable for it's flight model and systems modelling, and is not that demanding as DCS is. And yes, MSFS is trash

I actually really like msfs, as visual is incredibile and there's some super nice aircraft in the market, not the f-16 though.. Bms is the best thing ever if you couldn't join the air force

The vast majority of models have the classic WAC HUD (Wide Angle Conventional, I think it's called). If you're playing in the campaign, you can choose different squadrons from different air bases, and some have the F-16CM Block 40 with the WAR HUD (Wide Angle Raster). You can also create your own missions outside of the campaign, choosing whatever you want, in the Tactical Engagement section.

@@evilangel_1919 Yeh, I playedF4SP and F4AF back in the day, and early versions of F4BMS. Must be just the sound through my speakers . . . lol

@@BuggSmasher maybe you're referring to the growling when the weapon cue is looking at the horizon, it's more rougher and distorted when there's not a clear ir source (and I don't think that was like this in the old falcon days). My settings are also the standard ones, which replicate the sounds heard through the helmet

I think flying low is a bit outdated in terms of doctrine, but it's so much fun and challenging!
