Добавлен 28 апр 2023
Me & my BMW 1200 GS going on- and offroad trying to find out how far we can get. 🌍 21 countries so far, and more yet to come!
I´ve been a passionate traveller since my twenties and did my first trip on a motorcycle riding through Cambodia in 2002. I didn’t own a bike, always rented one when I was away, thinking it was too expensive to own my own.
But right after the pandemic I bought my bike Ragnar C after a friend of mine suddenly left us. I thought that I could might as well spend my savings on a bike and travel because we can all be gone tomorrow so why not chasing your dreams while you’re still here?
In 2023 I started this RUclips channel and started filming our adventures.

[S2E19] Don’t miss this when travel in Albania! / (Albania on motorcycle 🇦🇱)
Last stretch of the route from Kukes to Peshkopi in northern Albania goes over the mountains and through a rural idyll that is so beautiful it hurts. I am a bit concerned about the strong homebrewed brandy I was given by a local so I´m testing my alcohol level to see if I´m fit to go on my motorcycle.

Thank you for filming all the road! While I recognised the river turnings and the old bridges, it looked to me as if I was looking into a completely new place. In the times I would go there, these areas were heavily populated, and the roads, even though they were always unpaved, they looked so much wider to me than now. It looks like nature has reclaimed the place again in the absence of people. I think the village of my grandma was right opposite the river from the house where you stopped for a raki and coffee, high up into the mountain, but then again, people have disappeared from there and houses too and I was still doubting its exact location..... Thank you again! Finally, I saw how it looked the whole area now after so man years of human absence. I really hope that the government won't build another dam into the river Drin and destroy all this area, which is the area that feeds the whole Peshkopia region. Good luck with your journeys! Edit: Just a little clarification to everyone travelling Albania. Contrary to people's perceptions, Albania has never been a dangerous country to normal people, let alone the tourists even in the darker years of the country. Street crime doesn't exist in Albania and has never existed even when Albania was totally lawless. Albanians don't steal, mug, or beg as it is considered shameful. Only gypsies do that in our streets. Albania has mafias, which mainly operate abroad, and they solve their problems with each other without involving normal people in the streets. Albanians go for big money, not for little money, so you're pretty safe in Albania . If something happens, it's extremely rare. It's the Albanian culture that keeps order in the country, not the police.... Tough traditional laws keep people, women, and children safe in the streets in every corner, no matter how rich or poorer the areas are. Albania's "unwritten" law " an eye for an eye" is the law that make people think twice if they want to commit a crime.......
@@liljanasufaj4130 Wow, so interesting to hear about the area! I never would’ve expected it to have been heavy populated since when I was there it seemed like the exact opposite. It sure is a very beautiful area and I really hope the government doesn’t spoil it as you say. Thanks for the clarification of the supposedly danger in Albania, I didn’t find it dangerous at all, and never got a bad vibe from the people I met. I also remember when my class teacher told us back in the 80s when I was a little boy that he would go to Albania every year and never spoked about any danger, and I have been curious to visit ever since! I think people need to know this, cause it’s very well worth a visit! Thank you for the insights and I’m so glad you liked the video! 🤗😊🏍️💨
Such an interesting video. I have had a stereotypical view that Albania is to be avoided as it's 'full of criminal's. Looks like I am wrong! It's full of beautiful countryside and nice people. But....I have a VW campervan (4 wheel drive) and some of those roads look great to drive but very narrow...Thanks so much for your great blog. Regards
@@ritchardwilliams3874 I’m so happy to hear you find the video interesting and like it. I didn’t knew what to expect of Albania when going there and I had also heard the warnings about it, but I use to think that most people regardless where in the world are good and Albania proved it immediately when I entered. It’s a beautiful country and so far I’ve only met nice people everywhere. You’re right about the roads that I am taking. Some parts are really narrow and rocky and could be a little bit scary with a big vehicle I suppose. But most of it are fine, and there is a lot of smaller roads all over the country that aren’t as rough as some of the ones I am taking so it’s well worth a visit! Again, thank you so much for watching, there is more to come! 🙏🤗🤗🏍️💨

If I'm not mistaken, I think the government has made a decision to build this road just like 3 days ago as they said is an important road connecting Kukes - Peshkopi and also tourists are using this road as well apart from the local population.
@@liljanasufaj4130 Interesting facts! 🙏👍 If this mean that they will turn it into a tarmac road I’m sad to hear it, just as much as I understand it. This is a road going over the mountains via a walking area called Draj-Rec and I can imagine there is people going there to go trekking and stuff, but for me as a motorcycle rider I of course want less travelled roads and preferably dirt roads so I’m glad I got to ride it before it goes less fun! 🏍️💨
@ON2THEN3XT Oh, I thought it bothered you that the road was dirt track, but now I get the sentiment behind.... As soon as the roads turn into tarmac, they get really busy and lose their old charm. Actually, I followed your whole trip through that road as my dad is from Dry Rec area and I used to go there every year in so many wedding celebrations in the family when I was a little girl( mainly during communism times), but my entire family now has moved to the capital after the fall of communism and it has been more than 25 years that I haven't been there. Now that my dad has passed away( last year), I'm not sure I want to go there any more as I don't know if I can bear to pass those areas without getting too emotional....but I'm still interested to know what's going on over there.....
@ First of all I’m sorry to hear about your dad, my condolences 💐 Yes, I am more into off the beaten track kinda traveller, and especially rural areas, also as from a motorcycle perspective it’s a lot of fun to ride dirt roads 😊 I absolutely understand your interest, I also keep my eyes on my childhood places. I’m glad to hear you travelled along in this video at least. Next episode is continuing through the same area! I hope you one day can visit again because it’s such a beautiful place! Hello, thanks for asking! This is a road between the border of Kosovo (Qafa e Morines) in northern Albania and the city of Kukes. I don´t have a name for the road, I just took a right turn at some point along the main road and ended up here som I really can´t tell where it is exactly other than you should pout the GPS on no hjighways and toll roads. It is possible to pass by car and other two wheeled vehicles but it´s not very safe and narrow at some points. :) There would also be a problem meeting another vehicle I think.

No sound of bike? What is this noise?
I´m not sure what you mean, are you thinking about the music in the beginning, or the wind noise? I am recording with a microphone inside of the helmet to get good audio for the voiceover and are not always prioritizing the sound from the bike, but it´s there I promise - check later in the video and you´ll hear it! 😃👍🏍💨
Wonderful and beautiful video. Colors and the takes are just great! I just came back from Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece. Know I ask myself - where did this guy ride in Bosnia? You are not name-dropping in this video as far as I can tell. Would you mind giving me a few hints? Thanks!
Thank you so much for your comments! On this stretch I was riding down from the village/lake of Prokosko Jezero in Bosnia after riding there all the way from Banja Luka/Travnik along small gravel- and forest roads. The last stretch towards Mostar in this video where I drop my bike I´m actually not sure where I was riding since I was completely lost! 😅 What I do know is that I turned right from the E73 south onto Dronja Dreznica and then onto Vridj but somewhere around there I got lost and just asked my way to Mostar since there was a big road construction further ahead that stopped me from going the track I had planned. I use to draw a track in different maps and then import them as gpx-files to my GPS and go from there, so I don´t always know exactly where I´m going 😃
@@ON2THEN3XT Thankyou very much for your answer. I was in Travnik and close to Banja Luka too. But not on off roads like you do. Yes it is second to none the Nature of Bosnia, but so far Montenegro and Albania is taking the price as the most impressive on my journey. Try the SH20 road from Tara Bridge in Montenegro and down to Koplik in Albania. Amazing.
@@JanAndersenBHMP Yeah, I absolutely love the Bosnian tracks, although they are a bit exhausting sometimes! 😅 Sounds great! @@advswede I will! Thank you very much! 😊👍🏍️💨
you got a real goulash
I´m confident that you´re right, I guess in Sweden we adapt the names of dishes the way it´s served in the most popular way and in Sweden everywhere you order a goulash (if it´s in a regular restaurant and not a specialized for the particular cousine where the dish originate from) you almost always get a soup (in my experience I should add), so I just didn´t recognized goulash as a casserole, but it was really nice! 😋👍
the average level of spoken english among italians is not helpful. But all went fine! Nice roads too.
@@greyriddance64 Yeah, you get by on a few words really, perfectly fine. Roads is getting better and better. Around two days from here I will hit some gravel and dirt and then the real adventure starts! 😊😊🏍️💨
Your take on the italian traffic is... typical. Btw you can pass cars in queues, drivers won't get angry like in Sweden 😂 Sorry for your front blinker. Be careful not to snap it off trying to bend it.
It´s kinda like the same in Sweden on places. This wasn´t a road meant to walk, no sidewalks or anything. I should´ve film at the smallest part where trucks passed by just an inch from me, but you always miss the best shots... Haha, yeah, I tried lane splitting in Italy - no problem! 😃 Btw, I fixed the blinker, no harm done 😊👍
You're gonna love the area around the Garda lake. It's pretty hot in Italy right now, riding is going to save you from melting down. Italian drivers are dangerous, be careful. What freight company did you choose for this service?
I heard a lot about that area 👍 I only do layer on layer gear and ride with Richa Cool Summer pants with big mesh panels, and the Knox Urban Pro armoured jacket, also all mesh. It’s the only thing that works for me cause have a real issue with heat and motorcycle riding 😊 It’s actually a Swedish freight company who have a small specialised niche for motorcycle freight (owners own interest I think). They operate from three different cities in Sweden and have their own terminal in Affi, Italy and one in Alicante, Spain. Company name is Karlsson Spedition/Spedizioni 👍
Hard to say, it really feels like 4k looks better. But the question is: if everyone watches on mobile, does it really matter if it's 4k or 5k?
It’s certainly a crispier sharpness to it when I watch it on my different devices, but the 5k footage feels a bit more natural on a larger screen (tv for example). But as you say, most people are watching on their mobile phones and then it’s hard to see a real difference with lower resolutions as well. But I do think that it looks better when shot in 4K and uploaded to RUclips than my 2.7K from last year. I like to think of it as some sort of a future proof, cause I guess phones and tablets are getting better screens for every year and since RUclips supports 4K and I have the space for storing on external drive I go with the highest res that looks/feels best to me. I’m a bit of a nervous nerd who thinks I would regret it if I didn’t. 😀
@@ON2THEN3XT it totally makes sense. The nerdy way is the right way with tech.

Spanish is hard with swedish as a mother language, nonetheless you got your directions right. That guy gave you 2 possible routes 😂 very kind but not the easiest to understand. The filtering at 15:33 between car and wall was professional. Daily event for those who live and ride there.
😀 I thought I understood “roof”, “left” and something about a roundabout, and I studied his hand movements thoroughly (I also had some kind of idea from the map) but yes it’s hard - and I had only studied Spanish for two months in an app before going. 😀😀
I had to look that filtering up again, thanks! It was pretty tight in the alley ways, and that was just one car. I guess I have some experience from commuting on one of the busiest roads in Stockholm in the afternoon rush home from work where you have to filter to get home 😀👍
@@ON2THEN3XT I used to daily commute in Milan. I noticed it was kinda too smooth filtering for someone who only rides "ute på landet" 🤭
@@greyriddance64 That’s a big difference 😊👍
Your definition of "lots of people" is very swedish.😂 You should see the Eicma fair in Milan, that one really gathers lots of people. Which bike are you most excited about? Personally, I am curious about the Triumph 400.
😃😃 Heard that Milan drew over 500 000 visitors, whereas Stockholm had around 40 000 over three days so you’re right on spot! 😂 You know, It’s mostly woods up here so every time there’s a couple of thousands on the same premises it feels like it’s packed and you get a little claustrophobic 😃 The new Triumph 400 looks awesome and really fun to ride and I’m also curious on how it is to ride one! I was pleasantly surprised by the new Royal Enfield, the Tiger 800 GT and the BMW 900 GS (though it felt a bit too “off-roady” for a longer trip with any decent luggage).
Trochę źle pasuje ,lepiej zwróć i zamów oryginał .
Thanks for tip! I’m actually not sure I’m gonna keep it at all, looks a bit strange to me, but I guess I could look with my BMW dealer and see how the original looks. And what it costs compared to the look 😊
Keep up the good progress
Thank you very much! 😊😊👍
I always have breakfast on the road- get up early , ride then stop at a reasonable town etc 50-100 km
That’s a great habit. I am a bit lazy in the mornings unfortunately, must be better at rising early and get going! 😊👍
