I use 7/64 amsteel on hawk helium sticks. It works great if you set them correctly. Hope this video helps you!
The Best Prusik Tender. Ropeman 1 Alternative for Saddle Hunting!
Просмотров 31 тыс.4 года назад
Here’s how I make a super simple and super cheap Prusik tender that works great for a saddle hunting linesman or tether. The main thing you’ll need is a 3/8 rope thimble. Here’s a link to one, but they’re much cheaper in your local hardware store or farm store. www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-8-in-Wire-Rope-Thimble-2-Pack-55154/205322440

The CHEAPEST, SAFE Way to Saddle Hunt Tomorrow

Here’s how I set up to saddle hunt. I’m using the summit pro harness and a fleece saddle I made for about $5. This is a great way to get started hunting.
Great idea!
Watch how this old fat guy does it in (Climbing Platform??) video.
Looks like a pain in the ass
Cool, I'm 'bout to make me one.
Just found this, anyway you can point me in the right direction on how to build this saddle
That’s pretty slick! 👍👍👍 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Buena iniciativa. 👍
I always climbed trees with a tether until a friend convinced me to try a linesman belt with a Ropeman 1. Your explanation of using the belt to climb instead of hugging the tree was definitely a missing piece of the puzzle that none of the other umpteen thousand videos mentioned. great job as that is very helpful info to newbies using a linesman belt and using sticks.
If you stick the end of the tether rope back through the carabiner, just push it through it is self tending you don't need a tender for the prusik knot
Mind blown!
No thanks, incredibly clunky
Gut the paracord if you have not yet. It will take up half the room and not tangle.
Very good instruction, will try all your tips
Very well done and makes for easy climbing. Bravo! Best of all no “ums” or other annoying stalls.
Are you going to want all that aider swinging in the breeze when you are hunting?
Saves me money! Thx
Yo Hunter. This is way more awesome than u know. A few suggestions. Do a video on your prusik tie. Use better lighting, like outside or in a window, using indirect sunlight. And check out the tubular cable thimbles in 3/8 inch. I think you can rig a tubular cable thimble much easier because the cord is threaded through descending tubes. Also consider a 3 inch tubular nylon sheath over your double fisherman knot and just weave your thimble holding cord through the webbing sheath to the caribeaner. No tape needed. Come to think of it you could just lace the paracord around the rope stem BETWEEN the sandwiched fish knots. This won't reduce the safety of the knot but would firmly hold that tubular cable thimble really close to the base of the prusik. Dude I am an arborist and they would say this breaks all the rules of self tending lanyard gospel. But this has the potential to be brilliant. We have a $40 slider device that does the same thing but why.....pay.
You said to never grab the tree and then when you came down from your second step, you grabbed the tree instead of your lineman’s belt.
Dude. Best solution I have ever seen.
Get some dynaglide for your pull up rope instead of paracord.
Saw in another video instead of sitting down to set the platform or stick in a higher position he has a aider which moves up down via prussic knot so he can stand up and that allows for a little bit more height
You could move your tether up as you're standing up on the platform. That way you dont have that much slack if you fell.
With 4 Mini sticks strapped to your backpack it’s about 4-6 pounds Cmon man and a one step aider can get plenty high in a tree
That is way to much work an energy doing like that. By the time he gets up there il be already there shooting my deer. No thanks
Better have a repel rope on your belt for the day you drop that mofo from 20 feet or so, just saying
Tried this and it works great!!
After a full season with some 40+ climbs and descents I love this method. Less metal very simple and actually DIY not DIBuy.
Why couldn’t you lose the thimble (less metal) and just use a loop of paracord or amsteel?
@@teamcrooks6913 the thimble is super little, light and covered with cord, after awhile and probably not long the friction would cut your tender and put wear on your belt with out the thimble.
Thanks for the info. I tried a couple of homemade saddles from ideas off of SH forum. My a$$ cannot handle the webbing straps very long. I think the fleece would work once it got cold in Florida. Any suggestions for a material to use when it is 90 degrees? I've seen a few use those hammock seats. Have you ever tried that?
Random question. You’re not the Hunter Carr from AR I would have roped with one time are you?
Great job smart video
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the thimble if its behind the prusik knot?
It pushes the prusik up the line for you, so you don’t have to. That is, it “tends” the prusik.
It does not work on soft rope. I have 2 lanyards and one is kernmantle 12mm polyester, and one is 12mm 12 strand soft nylon rope (still needs a micro pulley to tend one hand).
great informative short video
What saddle is that?
Meh. You out there with a pillow case strapped to your ass and $14 wrth of equipment lol. I'm good. I will stick to my Cruzr XC and expensive, safe gear.
Thanks for the video. You could move your tether up the tree as you go to keep some slack out of the line. How do you like your Recon Saddle? Is it as comfortable as your fleece saddle? What size did you get? I am bigger guy, 6’5” 275 lbs and thinking about getting one.
So you do this in the dark at 5 in the morning to get set for a hunt?
Having a second cam buckle to set in place with a carabiner after your first move may save most guys from fighting their platform into place while hanging.
bro you probably just saved my life. I was doing it all wrong. Thanks a ton!
Im 6'3 340ish and you look definitely smaller than me but still a bigger guy in the saddle from the majority of people i see and for that i thank you 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Only the second video I've seen of yours subscribed on the first love the D iy
Looks great thanks for the info
Loved it. I plan to use the top part of my Lone Wolf climber as my platform. No unstrapping👍
I’ve got a set of Tethturd daisy chain versa straps I’ll sell for real cheap cause I simply hate em. I’ll stick with my straps with buckles and not have to guess how far my stick is going to slide down when I set it. Also, no stick surprises because my stick accidentally gets bumped up from the bottom. One other thing I don’t get that’s become so popular are double step climbing sticks. You’re actually less stressed hanging Lone Wolf sticks because your center of gravity is pushing you into the tree and your linesman belt isn’t bearing so much weight and digging into your back. I guess a saddle redistributes that pressure, though. At least that’s my theory. It’s that or they simply haven’t ever used Lone Wolfs. That’s a tangent, though!Great tips on hanging and setting sticks!
Fantastic!
Great tips! Thanks!
How do you get down
what tipe of saddle is it ????
NO WAY!!!!!!!....I would trust my full body weight to a single grip buckle on that platform.
Excellent advice! Thank you
