1/350 Scale K’tinga Battlecruiser - Finale & Retrospective
Join me in the finale of my 1/350 Scale Klingon K’tinga Battlecruiser scale model build. This one took a few months and many hours of work to faithfully recreate the ship seen at the beginning of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This includes functional photon torpedoes with sound and impulse engine special effects.

Dude, i can't stop watching this! It's amazing to see! Hope you're doing well. Cheers!
hey really great job. Could you tell me which colours you used for the dark grey parts, red and the rust?
It looks incredible! You do superb work. Your heart is truly Klingon! Songs will be sung about you in the Empire.
How much!
Love it! Very nice
Again, I’ve just found you, brilliant..🥰🇦🇺🇺🇸
Oh perfect modelling and you used Jerry’s theme..brilliant…🥰🇦🇺🇺🇸
Fantastic work!
"Oh My!" 😎👌🖖
Looks amazing! What color coats did you use to blend all the colors together?
@@GaryNeumann thank you!! It was a Tamiya dark green mixed with a little medium grey and then did a few dusting coats of the medium grey over that

stunning...
Just found your channel from the wrap up of the K’tinga video that RUclips decided I should see not even 30 minutes after I ordered this TOS D-7. Great stuff.
@@daniel_f4050 😄 that’s RUclips! I really appreciate it, I hope you have fun with it. It’s a classic kit
Beautiful work!
Such incredible work!
INCREDIBLE! Job well-done! Well-done!!
my first thought: guess who's coming to dinner... nice job 👍
Best vie seen , sweet.
The AMT kit I put together many moons ago, had pictures of the studio model on the box. I was suprised it was green and not gray, like you mentioned. You did a beautiful job on that model and the torpedo launcher lights had me grinning. Thanks for sharing your terrific model building and painting skills. 👍👍👍👍
I really appreciate it and thank you for checking it out!! It’s always fun finding out different the studio model looks compared to on screen.
Magnificent job! Beautiful workmanship here, man. Bravo!
Thank you so much! Thank you for checking it out 😃
My goodness. You put Balok on the bridge viewer! That is boss 😊
Shields Captain ? Shields Captain ?!!
You absolutely nailed the painting. Looks perfect. How long did it take u to complete the painting layers?
Thank you!! I’d say the painting was probably a month and a half or so.
BRAVO!!!
Gorgeous! I love that ship.
I am OBSESSED with this paint job. Just gorgeous. Bravo!
Sir the is fantasthic. Such a BEAUTIFUL paint job. And the weathering is first rate. This is the first K'tinga I've seen that's been painted correctly! IMHO. Also love the weathering of the torpedo launchers and the areas around the main bridge. love the battle damage too! Congratulations on a fabulous bird. Ka'Plah!
My favourite line of all the Star Trek films is ‘Admiral Kirk this is your opponent ’
That’s a great one! “Never been this close” as well
Impressive, just discovered your channel.
Thank you so much for checking it out! Have some more fun builds on the horizon
🖖😎👍Very spectacularly wonderfully fabulously well done in every detail way shape and form indeed and a very beautiful looking model of the Klingon K'T'inga, A job very greatly well done indeed Sir!👌.
@@stevenewman1393 I so appreciate it! It was a labor of love
Incredible!!! Best one I've seen, really beautiful!!! Excellent work!!
@@thecaptain2521 I appreciate it! 😃
Absolutely outstanding work!!! Such great craftsmanship!!! I hope I can make something like this in the future.
@@mykneeme thank you so much! I recommend it, it’s a blast
That's a really great job. But I think there was three wide windows on the dome above the bridge in Star Trek the Motion Picture? I really do like it. Qapla'!
@@donaldkroth2579 thank you so much!!! It’s one of my favorite ships. It should definitely there, sometimes the angle makes certain windows on the dome not appear great in pics.
Fantastic build. Great attention to detail. Being a Romulan fan boy I want to build one as a Romulan V-11 Stormbird.
Did you know that the photon torpedo launcher area on the original D7 isn’t a photon torpedo launcher, it is in fact the navigational deflector.
It was, until Star Trek The Motion Picture started popping photon torpedoes out of there. Originally the Klingon's didn't have photon torpedoes, they fired Disruptors from the front of the warp nacelle. On the underside of the bridge module were emitters for whatever the Klingon equivalent of a phaser was.
@@nicholasdickens2801 I remember reading that somewhere! I think even the original model kit from the 60s had it labeled as an antenna or something.
hey - you're showing your age now!!
Yuppers. Disruptors and phasers on the original D7. Though we never see the phasers in action. Disruptors are quicker to fire than photons. Though less powerful, especially at a distance.
@@geisminiaturesYeah, the AMT Klingon D7 model had a piece that was chrome on some models and it had a single antenna inside a tubular piece.
Awesome Build!! Every time I see the Klingon ship I think of Scotty filling the engine compartment with Tribbles!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@conrailfan6277 😆 I would love to see the Klingon’s reaction when the tribbles were beamed aboard
Awesome
My favorite Klingon ship in all of Star Trek....and you did this beautifully! When you were testing out the photon torpedo leds, I could literally hear the photon torpedoes firing in my mind. As an amateur (CG) modeler myself, this is great inspiration for me to go back and redo my K't'inga in Blender. What you've built here looks nothing short of studio quality. Nice touch with the battle damage. Loved the 4K Director's Edition. I've had copies of Star Trek TMP since it was available for sale price on VHS. The DVD director's edition was beautiful, but what they did with the 4K cut to address certain events in the movie was a welcome touch.... such as seeing the first K't'inga get blipped off the tactical display at Epsilon IX when V'ger returns fire at the Klingons. Maj'Qa! Q;apla!
@@saintelmo5590 thank you so much, i really appreciate it! I would love to see your model if you have it online somewhere, you can do amazing things now with CG. It’s fun to watch the different versions of the motion picture, I still haven’t decided on which enjoy more but the Directors Cut feels more cohesive
@@geisminiatures Oh, yes, I love going back to the original theatrical cut for pure nostalgia's sake. "This was 1979!" and then, I watch the Director's Edition, and just get blown away. Imagine if they'd had this back in '79? I do have a pretty decent model of the K't'inga made. I will try to post images of it. Under another RUclips account, I do have a couple of versions of my CG K't'inga model in recreating the opening scene (quite amateurishly, I might add) of Star Trek The Motion Picture. The second version has the better K't'inga models. Channel: Martok The Unbidden. You'll find videos of other CG model builds I'd made.
Outstanding!
Love it! Your attention to the details is incredible :)
I appreciate it!
You really did a nice job weathering it you toned them down nicely you used thinned down paints threw the airbrush Lou Dalmaso did the same thing color wise but didn't weather it enough you did a dam good job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much! That was the main part that I wanted to get right. Other models I’ve seen are pretty stark, color wise and I wanted to make sure it looked like it’s been in service for years along with battle scars
I love both looks but I feel in the movies the Klingon ships should be more muted in colour and have scars and wear and tear and lots of interstellar grime all over them.
Excellent work! I have one of these on my shelf waiting to be worked on whenever I get around to it.
@@colonelklink53 good luck with it! It’s a fun one
Very nice!
Beautiful! I want to copy yours so mine looks as good!
@@coreyg2177 I appreciate it! Let me know if you need specifics 👍
Wow, what a faithful copy. You did a great job. The detail makes me think about the original Enterprise.
what a beauty!
