Aluminum Soffit Installation Tips and Tricks.
Thank you for a great video, sorry for the long post. I have an unusual issue with my eu2000i. The generator starts fine but I get no power to the outlets and the green led doesn’t light. When I was testing your troubleshooting options by checking the voltage of the 5 wire connector I was only getting 190v a/c, not 225v though I was getting 10v from the pink/gray. The weird thing is, when I plugged the 5 wire connector back together while the engine was running, the green led went on and the outlets then had 126 volts and it worked perfectly to power my tools. After I shut off the generator and restarted it the green led was out again and I had no power until I disconnected the 5 wire connector and replugged it back together which worked again to turn on the green led and have power to the outlets again. This work-around only works if the eco switch is on. If the eco switch is off, and I unplug and replug the 5 wire connector while the motor runs, I get no green led light one no power at the outlets. Is it possibly a capacitor issue? When eco mode is on, and I unplug and replug the connector, the motor slows for a couple of seconds and then regains its speed. Also, after I unplug and replug the connector in eco mode and have power, I am able to switch between eco mode and no eco mode and the outlets don’t lose power and the meter show a consistent 126v. I converted my eu2000i companion to propane when I purchased it 15 years ago and It’s worked perfectly up until a few weeks ago.
PERFECT VIDEO BRUH! All the details, very little filler and I love that you speak clearly so I can watch it on 4x and still understand what you're saying! LOL
Hi Martin. Thnx for educating community, it is weary hard to find any DIY info on these generators. I’m having issue where there are no lights at all , generator is running rough and only has 16v DC output where 12v should be . Also checked the AC output from white , blue and red whirring and it does produce 220-260v depending from RPM’s , do you have any advice how to proceed from here ?
Carb spring popped out
I have a question I recently bought a used home eu2000i and I cleaned out the fuel tank and the carburetor and the internals…. The machine runs very good my only issue is that well it starts wanting to cut out around 1600 watts and then it drops and tries to pick up watts and drops again it never shows overload….. the green light does seem to momentarily go out….. lets say I kept it at 1300 watts I would have no issue take up a notch and it starts to stumble….
Also my circuit breaker/ reset switch never pops out would it only pop out on a short circuit or would it also blow on an overload ?
Sounds like it could be several things related to a heavy load. Possible that the carb is not getting enough fuel delivered to it. Check flow from the hose going into the carb. It might also be a ignition coil breaking down under load. Hard to diagnose this issue. I would try everything else and then replace the coil. Good luck,
@@MartinMetregerTipsandTricks hey thanks for your reply after messing around with the generator I realized two things one the spark plug was part of the issue and then also I had to clean the heck out the carb replace all seals after and it worked like a champ
Thank you for the video. I had a transmission replaced in my 2500 a few months ago and now my flex plate is broken. Was seeing if I wanted to do it to save 700 dollars in labor.
Glad it helped
If you had the manual , you would know that , that machine has blue tooth . It will tell you something’s . But if you have to further to diagnose the problem , then this series of vids just might be what you need . This generator costs $1166 . Oo from a dealer , and Honda generators are damned neer bullet proof . Don’t throw it away if you don’t have to . The Japanese did us a huge favor as their technology to build things has greatly improved over the past 4 decades . My hats off to them .
I just got this for my car I’m almost 16, jeez this is so old 😭
Hello, mu honda eu1000i 220v 50hz has a delay to start ac output. When this problem started, when i started the denerator i had to put eco throttle button on rabit to start to generate ac power inmediately. And now after i start, i have to wait around 10 - 30 minutes to start to generate ac.
Saludos como podria conseguir el avr de ese geneeador eu2000i
very good, thanks
Excellent video
I wonder if you could help me find answers to the following: Thinking to lower the pressure tank and connect to the pump about 10' - 15' under the ground to eliminate the heating well house in the winter season. My pipe runs about 6' under the ground. 1) is it a good idea? 2) how to do it? 3) Should I install another pressure tank under the house in the crawl space? The well is about 30 yards away from the house.
I don't have a good answer for you. The depth of the frostline can very based on location but a bad winter can exceed that. If your crawl space is heated, that would be a pain to get to but safer than under ground tank. But the pipe from the well would have to be buried 6' the whole way to the house. Check with a local well installer.
@@MartinMetregerTipsandTricks Thanks. The pipeline already baried 6' under the house before it enters the crawl space from outside.. Crawl space is not heated.
I have an older Predator 2500 inverter that runs beautifully but doesn't power the 110v outlet. I replaced the outlet with a household outlet and it worked on a small appliance. i started it later and it didn't work again. Any suggestions?
Sounds like you might have a broken wire leading to the outlet. Try pulling on the wire in different spots to see if it wiggles or comes apart. Good luck
@@MartinMetregerTipsandTricks thanks I'll give it a try.

There is NO APP. Sorry. This unit is older but it will work with Bluetooth
very nice !!!! i am working in the same system for my 25" Rv!!!! i take few good ideas from your project!! Thank you
Awesome! Thank you!
Same issue on my brand spanking new eu2200i. I got it yesterday. Kept flooding i paid out of pocket for the fix. Now i get home, have green light, no power. Tested as a ground reverse. I dont know how to fix it so im returning it
Thanks, I have a dead one also, hoping to figure it out. Thanks for the info...
What is the site you obtained the manual from?
It's been so long I can't find it. Sorry
Mine is having the same problem, no power coming out. I'm gonna go through what you have shown. Thank you for doing this video ❤️
Glad I could help
Thanks for the video
You bet
I bought a new fuse and it says line & Load but old one doesnt say anything on it please help.
That is strange that the fuse is directional. Most are not. Line to inverter and load to outlet. Hope that helps.
Do you recall a part number for that wire? After an hour of troubleshooting your video took me right to the problem.
I found one at a mower shop that took it off parts inverter. You have to check around or fix the one you have.
Do you recall a part number for that wire? After an hour of troubleshooting your video took me right to the problem.
No part number available. I had to find one used at a repair shop. They just gave it to me.
Do you recall a part number for that wire? After an hour of troubleshooting your video took me right to the problem.
I could not find a part number. I believe it is discontinued. Repair the wire or maybe you can find a dealer with old generator parts. Good luck.
Awesome video. Thank you very much Martin. We are anchored out in Georgian Bay and woke up to make my coffe and charge the house batteries. My Honda 2000i had the dreaded no AC,ughhh. I went through your testing procedure and never guess what I found. Yep, my white AC output wire has broken right at the connector. Exact same issue. Jammed the wire back in the connector and put a little dab of JB weld to hold it in place. Just a quick fix to get power, will replace the connector when back home. Thanks again Martin, you're a life safer.
Great to hear. Thank you,
Great video ty
Glad you enjoyed it
I bought the 2200 but i should’ve got the companion because of the 30amp plug for my rv. Is there a kit to change out the plate containing both plugs? A plug and play kit that contains a 30 amp plug? Essentially turning my 2200 into a companion?
I don't believe so. Sorry,
Lol DYI
I'll pay someone to do it, but I appreciate seeing this walk-though. You sure have a lot of patience... I wish you were my neighbor, lol.
Thank You... This is a big job and I tell people to have a professional do it if they have any concern. One mistake could cost way more to having a pro do it. But at least you know what is involved.
Отличный обзор!!!
Thank you
Thanks so much for the great tutorial on how to test for voltage... and your wife is right that you're a nut -- you should never run a generator indoor!!!!
Glad to help
Did you use galvanized or pvc for the piping?
PVC Schedule 80
Hey Martin, I just changed my spark plug, carbeurater (old one had a broken choke lever), and air filters. When i put it back together, it will only idle at a very low RPM. No power from AC outlets. Any advice what I should check for? From looking, this is not a very common problem.
Sounds like the linkage to the idle control solenoid is not hooked up right. or the control solenoid is not getting signal to raise the idle. Try disconnecting the linkage to the throttle and manually increase that throttle and see if you get power. If you get power, focus on the idle control solenoid. They do go bad.

shave your knuckles
are you sure this is faster and easier then taping up the trim piece?
Maybe not faster but less damage to the trim that i am reusing.
Like your pipe holder idea
Glad you like it
Nice work I have the same Honda, have a problem with 12 volts DC port I found 24 Volts Any suggestions to resolve this problem?
That voltage test should be checked while hooked up to a 12 volt battery. You should see around 14.5 volts + or -
Bad rectifier module
Very informative video. Thank you
So nice of you
Excellent tutorial, thank you, very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Can you link where you found the wiring harness
I went to a small equipment repair shop and the sold me a used harness. It was hard to find. I actually fixed my harness before I finally got a good one.
hola tengo un generador igual al de tu video, es 120v. yo vivo en la argentina y la corriente es 220v. tengo alguna forma de convertirlo para 220v
That is a good question. I don't know enough about your electrical voltage to provide safe input. I'm sorry.
@@MartinMetregerTipsandTricks hola no entiendo tu idioma, me podes responder en español
@@juancosta2647 Esa es una buena pregunta. No sé lo suficiente sobre su voltaje eléctrico para proporcionar una entrada segura. Lo siento.
Nice video, I had the same problem with mine, broken connector terminal on the white wire. Must be a common issue with these units. How did you fix yours, did you solder the terminal back together? I’ve been trying to find a replacement terminal with no luck.
I did solder it back together because I couldn't find a replacement myself.
Hi
Same exact thing with mine tha .thank you, problem solved
Glad to hear. Thanks
Martin what is the name of the winch tower you use for this job?
Well Brian, I used a LA12-18 Mini Line Array Tower 12in. Euro Box Truss from the sound company I work for. They sold the tower and winch. I help a friend with his well and used a hoist like this amzn.to/3pdBhKs with some Unistrut and scaffolding. Check your well depth. Should be posted by the surge/bladder tank. I don't recommend DIY for wells deeper than 300' . My friend well was 400' deep and it sucked. Really scary weight and took forever with all the pipes.
