THE WORST AIRLINE ? It can't STILL be RYANAIR, can it?
Просмотров 767Месяц назад
Welcome aboard my inaugural flight review video, where I take to the skies with Europe's leading budget airline, Ryanair. Known for its vast network and cost-effective fares, Ryanair's reputation precedes it, often with mixed reviews. Join me on this journey as I look at Ryanair's service, and decide if Ryanair are still the go-to choice for budget-conscious travellers in 2024? As a newcomer to...
The 30 inch pitch is not adequate. For those working with laptops you really need more and fat people simply cannot get the tray down to eat, having instead to twist to the central seat tray and the divider platform. BA would do well to restore 34 inches, while keeping the Euro-biz configuration and the cabin flexibility. I wonder what the figures are for business class utilisation. Really they could do it and it would be so welcomed. So what if a few lucky Economy passengers get to have more room too, after all BA could variously charge a fee, upgrade status holders, or accommodate tall people/disabled/pregnant who really need it. It would also tip the balance of choice for some going long haul, from going via AMS or FRA say, to going via LHR with BA. If I was magically in charge of BA I'd do this straight away and also give orders for a better flowing bar too. Make domestic business class more spacious and fun again.
Great video! Subbed. How smooth was that landing!
Thank you for the kind words, landing was butter
I wonder if Jaelynn Chaney will demand two free seats in THIS airline as well.
Oh no, you don’t have WiFi/every drink available on a 30£ flight? Wow.
I wouldn’t expect them to, It’s there to highlight that they don’t. They probably should have availability on the products they say they have though.
I love your videos mate superbly put together and will be following any updates you have. Well done and I will support you via a donation cheers
Thank you for the very kind words, I hope you enjoy them. It’s still early days in my journey, so I’m kind of juggling work, costs and showing things that might be interesting, but slowly getting there. Thank you once again. 👍🏼
I'm one of those friendly, kind and humerous Scottish people. Loved this video, you were lucky and had a cracking day to fly to Barra. On a sunny day, there's nowhere I'd rather be. Also agree with you about Loganair. Their crews are always so friendly and helpful and a cup of tea and a Tunnocks caramel wafer whilst looking down on the Scottish landscape is just perfection ✈️🏴
Thank you for the kind words, the weather was so good and the people were incredibly friendly, even to an old English boy like me, I would go back tomorrow if I could. I thought you’d enjoy that one.
@gavinmholder As we say in Scotland, haste ye back. I'll give you a wave next time you're North of the border!
5:23 Air France as well.
Thank you, yep will check them out.
I love BA CityFlyer and its fleet of E190s. Like you say, an enhanced level of complimentary catering in economy class. The steep 5.5 degree approach into LCY is amazing too!
such a good little aircraft
Lufthansa gives you a full bottle of water and some sweets on innercountry and short haul flights :))
they do indeed, I meant more of a drinks trolley that you can pick your own tipple 😀
I always wanted to land at London City because I heard its quite thrilling. I've been on a Logan Air Embraer from Exeter to Norwich but ours was a 2+1 configuration, so it must be a different model..it was very cool though, bit like a private jet and being a Scottish airline we got a Highland Spring bottle of water and a Scottish shortbread biscuit :) I think we were in the air for about 35 minutes lol. Those little planes are like pocket rockets...cool vid btw
thank you for watching, the take off at city can be a thrilling steep one
Planes from London city need to be able to deal with the shorter take off and landing, and steep climb out, and steep landing (for noise abatement reasons on the ground below)
The E190s used to have 98 seats but now with the extra 8, the seats at the back have nowhere near as much legroom and with more passengers there’s less overhead locker space so more gate checked bags plus on some days to some destinations in certain weather conditions before the extra seats and passengers luggage was left behind for weight reasons some destinations needed luggage and passengers to be off, loaded, I can see some unhappy people using BACF for some of the holiday flights when that happens more. Now that there’s an extra member of cabin crew 3 As opposed to 2 previously as passenger capacity is over 100 it’s rumoured that there’s enough staff to run the Buy on Board refreshments but for the time are complimentary including drinks from the bar. I prefer to fly from Heathrow and back into London City despite living in Stratford with the Elizabeth Line direct to Heathrow making it easier and and higher airport fees departing London City and lack of lounge off putting.
Re the question at 5:23, Loganair Edinburgh to Southampton - free water, tea, or instant coffee, with choice of shortbread or Tunnock's caramel wafer :-) Am sure it's all rolled into the price but it's a nice touch.
Thank you for this great video. I agree with all that you say, and I find the Embraer 190 far more comfortable than a A320. Also LCY have a pretty good choice of destinations for short haul services, and I invariably use it to fly to Paris, and the descent into Orly always gives a fabulous view of that fine City !
To be a right old pedant ... you were walking alongside the George V dock. The Albert is the other side of the runway. I'll get me coat ...
haha I realised this soon after publishing the video, I didn't think anyone would actually notice it, so I didn't change it - Damn you McKenna ;)
@@TheFlyGuyUK Joe Public will never notice, Gavin! They'll never notice!
If you are ever lucky enough to be disembarking there when an E190 is selecting take off thrust, you are in for a treat as an avgeek ! The noise I would say, is close to the BAC 1-11 ! I love the 2+2 seating arrangement, and it's more comfortable than an A320.
unfortunately, we were the second out that day, so didn't get to hear it. but will most certainly try to capture it in future. although sometimes the camera really doesn't do sounds and visuals justice, thank you for watching
Offers no value for money for BA business class flights.
indeed, there is probably no point fly these in business class.
Flew LCY to NCE in Biz only because it was much cheaper than Biz from LHR. LCY airport is a dump with far too much walking if you have to park at the far end of the car park. The terminal itself gets very busy and lacks basic facilities like adequate toilets for example. The aircraft Biz config is not worth it and most economy passengers were coming through to use the loo without any word from the crew anyway. Luckily I was travelling with my son so the lack of a blocked off middle seat like the 320 didn’t matter. Only the steep takeoff and landing was fun but I won’t bother with LCY again.
@@nimedave I do agree to be fair, LCY is certainly setup just to get people through as quickly as possible, and if your fine with that then it works perfectly, if your like me and feel that everything contributes to the experience, like the airport, and staff and lounges etc, etc, then London city is certainly not going to deliver on that. Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your experience. 😀👍
@@TheFlyGuyUK If you feel that way about LCY then you should never fly out of LGW. I would call LCY a premium experience from start to finish, but I don't need a lot of frills. I just need everything to work as intended.
The Geven Essenza seats haven’t been fitted yet, these are the original Zodiac seats.
thank you for the information
I've flown this route several times and agree with everything you said about the Embraer 190- a fantastic aircraft to fly on with a spacious and comfortable cabin and it's always fun with the steep climb and descent out of and into LCY. Loganair, Eastern Airways, KLM, Air France, Aegean and Turkish Airlines are some carriers who still offer complimentary refreshments on European flights.
I haven’t flown KLM or Air France for such a long time, I wasn’t sure if they still offer complimentary drinks that you can choose, rather than the odd bottle of water. Thanks for the info 👍🏼
No problem. If you're back in Scotland again I'll give you a wave! 👋🏴
Great video out of curiosity I noticed your GoPro bag may I ask which model as I have the daytripper which measures a little bigger than easyJet’s measurements thanks.
Hi There, it is actually the Daytripper, although on the short haul flights I don't pack it that full, so it can compress down into easyJet's size requirement measuring bin. just don't tell them :)
Great stuff thank you.
❤star 🌟 star 🌟
Nice video
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

Another fantastic video, thank you for uploading it. I'd be like a kid in a sweetshop on the spectator terrace in Munich, it's a great place to spend a few hours. Really liked the cabin on the A320-Neo and serving your wine in a proper glass really was a quality touch. As they say in Germany, Prost! 🥂✈️
Apologies for the inconvenience. Due to an issue with the licensing of an audio track, I had to re-upload this video. It was easier to change the problematic file and re-upload the video rather than edit the original. This is not a new video; it is a repost. I apologise to anyone who commented on the previous version. Thank you for your understanding.😔🥴
Underrated 😮
I've flown with easyJet a lot and when they get it right it's a good experience. Crews are usually friendly and as you pointed out, they are usually well stocked for the buy on board service. I do find that their punctuality can be poor and on one occasion when my flight was cancelled there was very little help from the ground staff and I was left to make my own way home. However they offer a great route network from Scotland and for that reason I really want to like them!
I believe everyone has had an experience that either puts them off an airline or endears them to it, for example my Mrs cannot stand BA, because of a past experience, where as I don't mind them.
Another great video. When BA get it right, Club Europe can be a very good product, but sadly for me there is too much inconsistency in the service for me to book a shorthaul Club Europe flight with BA. There is a slight inaccuracy in your video at 0:56. You mention all check-in desks are exclusive to BA in LHR T5. There are in fact 8 dedicated Iberia check-in desks in T5 Zone H for their flights to Madrid.
Great point! thank you
Technical issues ... mmm. I would put in an UK261 compensation claim and see what happens...
Certainly never a dull moment for you on that particular flight! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m going on the Airbus a320 neo from London Heathrow to Frankfurt airport then I’m going on a CRJ-1000 to Gdańsk lech walesa airport
NICE ! - I'm very envious of your CRJ flight, try to sit at the back and get the full visual and sound of those GE engines.

I used to travel Lufthansa from BHX to Prague. These were the first two years flights, 29 December to the 6 January and they were good. But the following years i was met with changes to flight times. And the last time i used Lufthansa Prague to BHX, I was in four countries in one day. Czech(Prague) then Germany, then Belgium, Belgium was a nightmare, then back to Blighty-BHX. i never fly to Prague no more, i coach it
Even thought it was economy, I quite enjoyed making this one. Lufthansa do have something about them. If you would like to support my channel, please support me, allowing more caffeine intake. buymeacoffee.com/gavholder
It was a very mid experience

brilliant review as ex Ryanair cabin crew you've captured it perfectly the reason we have passengers wait on the ramp is our T25 initiative of the aircraft only being on the ground for 25 mins from arrival at the gate to push back and taxing to the runway we officially have 3 minutes between the last passenger disembarking and the first passenger boarding for the return flight
Hi there thanks for taking the time to watch my video, is amazing to have some feed back from someone who’s been at the heart of it day in day out. The quick turn around time is most certainly a big part of a low cost airline model. I do however hate waiting in a stairwell, or outside when it’s raining. I can see it from both viewpoints though and the companies need for that speed. 3 mins between last and first passenger is pretty impressive. I hope you stick around and watch some of the other videos I have on the way. Gav
@@TheFlyGuyUK im looking forward to watching all of your videos as you release them keep up the brilliant work
About to take first Ryannair flight later this year so very good video for me - all my question answered - luckily NOT flying from Stanstead (looks like my view of hell) but inflight review was excellent ad your reveiw was really good so you have a new subscriber ! keep it going young man.
Thank you for the kind words, I’m pleased you found it useful, just be prepared for what you’re going to get and you’ll be fine, the queuing in the stairwell infuriates me, but that might just be me!
I think this presenter has good quality advice for me it’s a yes
