    This could have been known as "the Beatle bass" instead of the violin shaped Hofner. But of course Stuart Sutcliffe wouldn't have given his instrument to Paul McCartney. 75 quid was a lot of money in those days, and they din't get along.

    This is not a Framus Florida but a Framus Missouri. I got the same guitar from a colleague last year. Mine is from 1966. The tremolo and bridge on your guitar are not original, in my opinion.

    I think I have this guitar. It’s had a headstock repair and it said it was a fresher. But after researching, this is what it looks like. The same brass bridge, neck and string through body. I found it at a thrift store. This definitely the one! Thank you 🙏🏼

    Hi. Nice guitar. I've just got a non - cutaway Fasan with the black and white pattern binding but also has different coloured strips of wood on the sides. Does your guitar have an adjustable truss rod? Mine has a truss rod cover and you can see the rod but it's square in section and has no thread or nut. Thanks,

    • @guitar-harbor
      @guitar-harbor Месяц назад

      Hi, I dont know any models or names of Fasan archtops. This one also didnt have a trussrod nut. But I had a fitting one laying around and whit that the trussrod worked. Its not the best trussrod ever, but it does its job German guitars started having trussrod from around 1960. I think that is when the Gibson patent expired. Any 1950s or earlier guitar ususally doesnt have an adjustable rod.

    • @geckobaldy
      @geckobaldy Месяц назад

      So did your guitar have an adjustable rod but the nut was missing? There is no thread on mine to put a nut on and the rod is square anyway.

    Hi Arne, nur am Rande: In der Lindenberg Biographie "Mach dein Ding" spielt Udo in den Sechzigern bei der amerikanischen Truppenbetreuung. Rate mal, welche Gitarre der (amerikanische) Gitarrist im Film spielt und wie die Kopfplatte dieser Gitarre aussieht. Genau: eine Framus mit dieser unsäglichen "Paddel"-Kopfplatte. Ist ja vielleicht auch ein bisschen Werbung für die guten alten "German Guitars from Franconia" Viele Grüße, Norbert

      I think the idea is rather that you can install a higher floating bridge and play it like a jazzguitar.

    Fortsetzung: Die Saitenhalterabdeckung an der Bridge zum Beispiel - soll man sich da dran schneiden? Die Klinkenbuchse einfach "random" im Korpus montiert (gibt es aber auch bei Ibanez!) und die Kopfplatte ("Wir wollen weder Gibson noch Fender kopieren, also machen wir sie einfach so hässlich, wie es sonst keiner machen würde") Gibt natürlich auch Features wie den Nullbund, den leider die Amis und Japaner nie kopiert haben, der aber eigentlich eine gute Sache ist. In seiner "Schrulligkeit" jedenfalls ein liebenswertes Instrument, das einen neuen, spielenden Besitzer verdient! Liebe Grüße, Norbert

      Der Nullbund kommt glaube ich so langsam in Mode ;) Da gibt es jetzt was bei z.B. Stewmac. Die Kopfplatte finde ich von Framus noch am besten... ;) LG

    Hi Arne, halt so typisch deutscher E-Gitarrenbau der Siebziger: Tolles Holz - tolle Verarbeitung (sogar "German Curves), aber irgendwie hat man immer das Gefühl, sie haben nicht so recht verstanden, wie man eigentlich eine E-Gitarre baut.

      Hi Norbert, bei dem guten Stück gab es z.B. keine Saitenerdung zur Brücke. Das war nicht so schwer zu installieren (habe ich gemacht). Man fragt sich warum Framus das in den 1970er Jahren nicht gemacht hat?! Immerhin das Design finde ich bei diesem Modell sehr gelungen. Die Pickups gefallen mir auch

    Sounds great for a 1969 12 string! I've owned literally dozens of 12s over the years, and it's hard to find a good fit. I recently got a '64 Framus 12 (Hootenanny?) that is pretty good; it had a neck reset and refret done a while ago so it plays well for a 12 of its age, but my Taylor GA3 still plays much easier and sounds just as good (but very different). Anyway, have fun with your Texan, it's a keeper!

    Höfners look great; that’s why I have them. But these new models need to have almost everything changed on them. So essentially, you’re buying a body you like for $400 USD, and then spending another 500 on machine heads, pickups, shielding, and completely new setup to get a truly great guitar.

    I have the exact same one I am not as observant as most mine was listed as a 65 model when I bought it but it was 1991 one and I didn't have alot of info on hofners a few years later a book came out that showed the changes in models from year to tear after that I had and idea if it was genuine 60s model because they where still being made serial numbers are not always available but removing the cover plate there where numbers on the pots that was a key to the year and month of manufacture I later realized the 1967 was a transition year the blade p/u s where supposed to be more powerful the tuners where a new desighn the gear was covered and it acted like a lock to keep the bass in tune now I can recognize one easy because they used this desighn untile people started wanting vintage models of the 62 or 63 witch everyone paul actually had as his second 500/1 many people now believe that pauls could have a 63 body and neck with 62 parts that where often used first untile the supply was depleted a frugal move for a company that had hand made bodies and parts that where not upgraded that much.
