I was at this show, the day Skylab fell to earth folks were wearing hard hats for Skylab
I worked at this show. My first job in high school selling Dr. Pepper. We used to augment that a little by selling a few other things… I remember being in front of the front row for this particular tune. I think I'm in this video I cross right to left right after the Program guy…45 years ago feels like five fucking minutes. It was July and Todd was wearing rubber pants and I kept thinking of myself "that must be uncomfortable." the world was a dramatically simpler place that's for sure. Nice home on the upper east to ride home to on my bike, which was locked up under the stands. Great music, four nights a week and all the warm diet Dr Pepper I could drink.
How does he make that god awful Fender Mustang sound so good ??

Why Todd never received a Grammy & just barely has gotten recognition in RRHOF is criminal.
I saw Utopia at CentralPark and on the pier in NYC several times. There is a good chance I was at this show - will have to dig through my ticket stubs. Love to see the rest of this concert.
Todd is a fantastic performer...and a much better electric guitarist than he gets credited for. Great guitarist - on a Fender Mustang!

That boombox kills me. The Super 8 camera I used back then is actually lighter than the Canon C300 I use today for motion pictures. Click on the top of my channel -- there are a couple of other songs from this show. Made the mistake of rolling on the "Seven Rays" -- long - ran out of film. "Just One Victory" from the following year. (Oh - I also posted "Just One Victory" from this year's tour. Shot with an iPhone. Now that is a small camera, All in the Utopia playlist.)
I dont know who had a film camera with sound or a video camera n 1979 but thanks man . what an amazing time trip this is. if you likem this video look for the one that shows all the people on line for a real freak out.
I borrowed my uncle's Super 8 sound camera. I don't recall the state of consumer video camcorders in '79 -- pretty shitty I'm sure if they even were in the market then. Thanks for the comments.

Yep, that's right. I live in Philly and was at the New Year's Eve show at the Tower also. This Central Park concert was basically the Adventures in Utopia show that we saw a bunch of times including at the sold out Spectrum earlier that year, which many consider the high water mark for Utopia. We had high expectations for the Utopia television program that Adventures was supposed to be setting up, but they kind of blew it with Deface the Music as a follow up. I loved Deface and thought it was clever and hysterical, but it kind of fizzled. There was the Halloween night show at the Capitol in Passaic that was broadcast on the radio and then NYE at the Tower. At the stroke of midnight, thousands of balloons came down that said Happy New Year with Utopia and the burst into the chorus from the Utopia Theme (City in my Head...). I still have a flattened out balloon somewhere.
This is soo cool. This is UTOPIA at their prime. Kick ass ROCK! HOTDAMN!
The most rockin' tune ever released by Utopia, imho.
