Played in McCumhaill Park, Ballybofey Robert Emmets who were doing well at the time played a resurgent Urris in the Div. 2 Shield Final. Both sides had their own stars with Robert Emmets having players with county football experience such as Andy Curran, Pat Mc Crea, and Seamus "Nipper " Devine. Damian Patton and Hugh McGurran were also a big force for them and also including Johnny and Patsy Curran, team Manager Terence McLaughlin and experienced full back Kevin Doherty. Urris also had their own stars with county players Danny Kelly, John Farron, Dessie Kemmy and Des Newton. Michael Grant and John Friel were other talented players.
