Teddy, Dole, Lester and Leslie all grew up here in Hardy, Arkansas. My mom was their cousin, and I recall Teddy coming by the house a couple of times in the late 50s and 60s to see mom. They would stay sometimes with my Uncle John Zeiger. One of the very best tributes I ever heard about the Wilburn Brothers was late one evening back around 2000, when I was driving home from Batesville, where I worked. It was about an hour's drive and It was up around 9 pm. Sometimes, late at night, I could still pick up WSM on the radio and, that night, I was coming in very good. The announcer played a song done by the Wilburn Brothers, called Trouble's Back In Town. After the song was over, he simply said "they were a class act". Such a true statement. My Mon's brothers, John and Bob Leonard would have passed for being brothers of Teddy and Doyle. I guess this is were I got my desire to become a musician, which has given me much pleasure since 1963, and taken me to play on stage with the great steel man John Huey, and playing opening acts for Bobby Bare and Johnny Tillotson in Little Rock in 64, opening for Crystal Gayle, playing on the Rhodes Show with the great Speck Rhodes, a wonderful person.

That's the incredible Curly Chalker on pedal steel! One of the best EVER! He reverses the necks on his steels, he's got E9 on front, C6 back neck for anyone in the know. Had me wondering how he could play country so well on the C6 neck until I found that out. Country IS E9, C6 is everything else. Curly is a pro on BOTH!

The wilburn brothers.. We used to watch them Every. saturday when we lived in tennessee,, Smyrna tennessee maybe people would know where that's at.. But Saturday's was a big thing. For our family we had cookouts and had the TV on the front porch. Watching country Music. at ten o'clock we watched our Wrestling.. God I missed those days....

Doyle Wilburn used to swerve and speed his way to the Grand Ole Opry House. The Police officers would be in hot pursuit, and wait backstage while Doyle changed into his shoe costume, and performed with his brother, Teddy Wilburn! After Doyle had finished performing and changed out of his show costume, the police officers would arrest and book him for DUI. The first few times were awkward, but eventually it became a routine for everyone!

I like Peggy Sue and I own 3 or 4 of her LP's, but I don't care for her political posts. I love Loretta and own about 60 of her LPs. This was 1969, but I don't care for t his hairstyle Peggy has, but then I don't have to wear it.

It was this performance of At The Time that was my first contact with Jean Shepard. Years later I have a huge record collection <3

I'm just discovering Peggy Sue now.... Not too much on youtube, but man o man can she sing, and cute as a button too, love her little mischevious smile. Heard tell she is quite the firecracker even today at 80 yrs young. I just wish there was even one Country music show even close to this today, but nope. Thank God for these archived old videos here on YT, or else it would all be just a distant memory...

My sweet husband took me to see Crystal Gayle two nights ago for our anniversary. We got to meet her and her husband and grandson. The show was great and she's such a doll!
