Pro Wrestling and "Real Fighting"
I was having a conversation with someone and realised how few people actually know about the history behind pro-wrestling and the proximity it has towards real fighting and MMA. So I decided to make this video. Hope you enjoy!!!

Put yourself in the mindspace that led to the Edward William Barton-Wright developing Bartitsu from combining, western Martial Arts like boxing and Savate, with Judo and Jiu Jutsu to create what he calls Bartitsu. The style practiced by the late Victorian London gentlemen, including Sherlock Holmes. Thanks for watching and please like, comment and subscribe if you liked it, it helps a lot😁 #jud...

Elite Combat League 2: Ramkel Wakow vs Badr Houari
I like how you broke it down, but what I know about pro wrestling is that it was basically a revived form of catch wrestling that originated in England, and was banned because of how dangerous it was. It was later revived in the US as an Olympic sport, known as "Amateur wrestling," and it later became a circus act. The people who were performing it weren't professionals at the catch wrestling and would sell their moves to make it look like they got hit, which brought about the promotion WWWF in the 1950's. Frank Gotch, who was an amateur wrestler, participated in pro wrestling but left because it lacked the effectiveness of real wrestling techniques. Frank Gotch would go on to train guys like Billy Robinson (who was a gold medalist in amateur wrestling), Antonio Inoki, Terry Funk, and many others others. Billy Robinson was the last remaining practitioner of catch wrestling who carried the knowledge of the scientific aspect of wrestling, and he would pass his knowledge onto Japanese pro wrestlers, one of his famous students was legendary pro wrestler and mma fighter, Kazushi Sakuraba. Another thing I found out about it is that Europeans would influence Japanese juijustu, which Kimura would use against the Gracies and beat all of them. Kimura would go on and participate in a match with Riki Dozan. This match ended up going wrong because Kimura hit him too hard, and Dozan responed by knocking him out, which shocked everyone.
Gene Lebell beat boxer Milo Savage in the 60's in a mixed style fight before Inoki vs Ali. Gene was a professional wrestler that had a Judo/Catch Wrestling background while Savage was a 106 bout veteran journeyman that also had a high school wrestling background. Kazuyuki Fujita who was a student of Inoki did a similar fight in 2004 against former Cruiserweight Champion boxer Imamu Mayfield beating him by submission in the second round.
Oh damn I'm definitely gonna look into that, I'm fascinated by these kinda style matches that were pre-mma. Thanks for the recommend🙏🏿🙏🏿
Harley Race wrestled in the carnivals when he was a teenager
Dude, how could you not mention Karl Gotch? He was the one who took the Catch Style taught in Wigan to Inoki. Gotch trained a lot of Japanese wrestlers including Fujiwara, Kido, Fujinami, Matsuda, Inoki and they influenced a whole generation. Even today, Gotch's training methods are still used for wrestlers to get in shape.
I agree Gotch aka God of Wrestling was definitely an oversight. In the effort of making the video a short introduction I left out far too many people important go the development of pro Wrestling and Japanese MMA. It's why i left out people like Gotch, Brock Lesnar and Sakuraba. Maybe I'll make another video going into their stories 🤔
Pro wrestling fuckin rules when it’s done properly, and anyone who disagrees is just fuckin wrong 🤷♂️🌚
Agreed👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Pro-wrestling got some of the wildest athleticism and commitment among any form of sports entertainment and the stories are insane🤣🤣🤣
Judo Gene Lebell was a pro wrestler and judo practitioner back in his youth. He took on boxers in actual fights back in the 60's.
Yes, I've always heard about him and I've been meaning to rlly look into his story for a while, maybe it's about time I do🤔
@Ram-fights The dude is a legend. He was like the senior stuntman in Hollywood for decades.
Pro Wrestling used to be catch wrestling. All the old carny wrestlers were dangerous men. They were called "hookers" because they knew all the submission holds and submissions were called hooks.
Yh man, catch wrestlers are terrifying, the type of guys that can lock any part of your body, any single hinge or ligament they can lock or tear, just watch Erik Paulson from CWS or Josh Barnett
When I was a kid I loved wresting because I thought it was real. In my teens I switched to mma and haven’t watched wrestling since
Little did you know pro Wrestling had some of the earliest MMA🤣🤣 But fr I recommend watching Bas Rutten's Pancrase matches, they're all on RUclips and their insanely hype.
Pro wrestling > mma
Great video my man. I had no idea that was how wrestling was in japan in the 90's and that's amazing. You covered a lot of really good information here. Most of which I was unaware of. Shootfighter Tekken was a 3 part movie series about a kid following in his dad's footsteps and how he went up against pro wrestlers in japan in the 80-90's era. Yes it is an anime, but I suddenly have a much better appreciation of the incorporation of the "Pro Wrestler" trope in fighting anime (looking at baki the grappler and kengen ashuren)
Appreciate the love man🙏🏿🙏🏿 Yh bro Shootfighter Tekken or Kokkou Tekkenden Tough and the sequel Tough are two of my favorite martial arts focused manga I've ever read. The art is amazing and the insane fights are wild. It is also one of the first series that rlly introduced me to the pro-wrestler being terrifying trope. And after my research it makes complete sense. Maybe I'll make a video on these series in the future😁😁
@@Ram-fights I'll watch it in a heartbeat man. Keep up the great work.
Great video!
Thanks 🙏🏿🙏🏿🫡
do longer form content!
I will, got a couple of videos cooking in the background, but unfortunately they'll take a while cause work, uni and training get in the way. So these shorter ones will have to do, until the longer vids are finished. Bare with me🙏🏿🙏🏿😅
Not fake, scripted.
Exactly, never get it twisted🫡🤣🤣
this ended up being a much cooler video than I expected. very nice. good luck with the algo
Thank you, I'm still new to this so imma just keep making stuff like this until the algorithm notices😅😅
The strongest “bridge” between the two is both Brock lesnar and Kazushi Sakuraba, both wrestle two different pro wrestling styles as well.
I actually had a whole section about both Lesnar and Sakuraba, but I felt it would make the video too long, so I'm probably gonna make a second part to this one about the both of em😁😁
@ I’ll check it out when you make it, subbed and turned the bell on 🫡
Yessir, thanks for the motivation, I'll try and do their stories justice🙏🏿🙏🏿🫡🫡
Kazuyuki Fujita too
the guy pulling the gun out of his singlet had me rolling
Yh,Had a ton of fun making the video, there are so many wrestling memes🤣🤣🤣
I needed that 🤙
Keep going brother👊🏿👊🏿
Really nice the way you documented with the footage and little manga. I plan to do a video about his travel journey to spread judo, just waiting to be back there ;)
Appreciate the love man, and I'm looking forward to see your video on it, I'm still new to this so I'm trying to learn as much as I can🙏🏿🙏🏿
"No Diddy"
No Diddy frfr🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Ram-fights Bro, I been watching your clips and you have nice movement and angles. That's how I spar and shadow box as well. Only difference is I'm a midget compared to you lol
Every inch counts👀👀
Frfr🤏🏿🤏🏿
Good story, but it would be better if you started when Kano was 14. When he started searching a teacher but nobody wanted to teach him. Then came the time when got the first teacher.
Great video mate keep going you deserve more attention!
Appreciate it, only just started this youtube thing, but there'll be more on the way
I ever thought its name is kano ju jitsu?
I guess following the conventions of the time, he could have called it Kano-Ryu Jujutsu, but he chose to call it Judo as we know it today. He just learned multiple styles like Tenjin Shin Yo-Ryu and Kito-Ryu among others. Some do call it Kano Jujitsu to this day however😁
Back then, most Japanese martial arts were known as various different types of Jiu-Jitsu. This is similar to how martial arts in China were generally all known as Gung Fu, or Kung Fu as it is more commonly known now. People who were aware that Kano was doing a different variation, or a new variation, called it Kano Jiu-Jitsu. It was still known as that when one of the instructors brought it to Brazil where the variation practiced there became Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. When Kano named it, he called it Judo, the Gentle Way.
@miketel7781 exactly 🫡💯
O sensei Kano changed the name to Judo because people were going to other Jujutsu schools and learning techniques to use it for evil like the Yakuza. Plus he added his own personal philosophy to it like morals and such.
fight mma, bro
Maybe one day bro, but for now I'm all in on striking🤣🤣
Nice bro, partner looks solid as well

Hey dude I’m gonna film our fight and we can both throw a right kick at the same time it will be soooooo cute and people will be like omg wtf! 😅☺️
It was pretty cute and people were kinda like omg wtf😱😱🤣🤣🤣🤣
Double copy no jutsu...
🤞🏿🥷🏿
That low kick looked sweet
That low-key hurt fr😅🤣🤣
@@Ram-fights I'm not am amazing fighter myself but it hurt because you're using the weak part of your shin to foot to his his stronger knee, It's smarter to do the opposite and use knee to strike his heel area
You're right, it was bad form tbh, but easier said than done perfectly all the time🤣🤣🤣
Fair, composed and elegant. Thank you for the video homie
Appreciate the kind words man, just wanted to put a lil something out for the end of the year🙏🏿😁

for sure u deffo deserve more attention keep it up man
Great video, but no.Not everyone should practise martial arts as there are bullies and horrible people around the world.
I completely understand where you're coming from. There are bullies and horrible people everywhere, but I believe precisely those people should practice martial arts. Through their practice, they will not only be shown that there are those stronger than them, but that they also can use the aggression or stress that they are outing on others in their training instead. Self-improvement and a better character are the aims of martial arts, after all.🙏🏿 Thanks for commenting, and hopefully, I have convinced you a little bit.👊🏿👊🏿
There's a chance the bully will get hurt during the sparring and understand it sucks Pent up aggression will be redirected There are other options besides bullying getting worse a possibility but not the only one
Lvving this series bro, you put into words what i've been thinking
Someone's gotta say it, right?🤣🤣👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
