Now let’s look at the actual process by which Israel moved into the land. Their first two successes came through miracles. A miracle opened the way for them to cross the Jordan and through a miracle they captured the first city of Jericho. But listen to this. After that they had to fight for all the rest. And the only way that they actually gained experiential possession was by placing their feet actually on the ground that they were claiming. God said to them, “Every place where you place the sole of your foot, that’s what’s yours in experience, not just in legal right.” Let’s then look briefly as I close at our two responsibilities, the two things we have to do. I’m going to say them in very short words. First of all, we’ve got to be prepared to fight. Secondly, we have to set our feet on what we claim to be ours of our inheritance. FIGHT! SET OUR FEET!

Do we desire to prove God’s faithfulness? The way to do this is to cultivate faithfulness toward God. If we are faithful to Him, He will be more than faithful to us. Scripture and experience alike affirm: God is faithful. He rewards every act of sincere faith, no matter how small or humble. On this basis of faith-or faithfulness‚ we need to develop two further attributes of character that David mentions: blamelessness and purity. Alternative translations for blameless are “perfect” or “complete” or “wholehearted.” To be wholehearted and pure in our relationship with God means that we conceal nothing from Him, withhold nothing from Him, and renounce all that displeases or offends Him. The measure in which we open ourselves to God determines the measure of God’s fullness that He, in turn, makes available to us. If there are no reservations on our side, there will be none on God’s side either. --- Derek Prince

At the end of his life, having brought Israel into the Promised Land, Joshua challenges them with a decision: “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve”-either the heathen gods of Egypt or Canaan, or the Lord Himself, your Deliverer. Then Joshua adds, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). For years I marveled at these words of Joshua. Obviously, he could make his own personal decision to serve the Lord. But how could he be so sure his family would serve the Lord? Then one day I understood the basis of Joshua’s assurance. He had taken his God-given position as priest, prophet and king in his home. Therefore he knew he could count on the faithfulness of God to honor him in that position. Joshua’s assurance was based not on what he was in himself, but on God’s faithfulness to the office of fatherhood which he held. ---- Derek Prince

In the office of fatherhood God has united the greatest privileges of leadership with the greatest responsibilities of leadership. This theme runs through Scripture from beginning to end. In the days of fearful evil, immediately before the flood, there was one man who found grace in God’s sight-Noah. To Noah God said: “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation” (Genesis 7:1). It was the righteousness of Noah that provided a covering for his whole household. Because Noah took his rightful place before God as head of his house, he had the privilege of bringing his entire family with him into the ark.--- Derek Prince

But the fact that it can be misused does not mean that it’s evil. That is really a snare of Satan to make us impractical and often to get us out of faith in our dealings with money.
