      @Trappingwithgavyn-ug9of I board the fur side out. It is very dry in Arizona so by the time I am done fleshing them out they are dry enough to put on the stretcher fur out. Also I rub them down with borax before putting them on the stretcher to get any more of the last moisture.

      Hey thank you for this awesome video I want it to report back! I got a chance to do these today and they worked out to about 7 to 8 minutes of burn time in the wind. I do have a question I couldn't find peanut oil so I use regular vegetable oil do you think that makes a difference? I use the crayon the same way but I did not get the consistency like you did or the coloring how did you get that to do that with the crayons ? @@OutdoorMike

    • @OutdoorMike
      @OutdoorMike 14 дней назад

      @crerar01 I think as long as you use some sort of vegetable oil, your burn time will average about the same. I use peanut oil because I keep my oil from deep frying turkey and re-ues it for other applications like this. As far as the crayon goes, I just put about a half inch to an inch long piece in with the mix for color. It's not a necessary step, but I like to do the colors more for fun. I also did it in the video so it was clear that I was showing the two different versions store bought vs homemade. Hope this helps. Glad you enjoyed the video! Is there anything else in this realm of videos that you would like to see me do?

    Dumb question, why kill the Bobcat? I understand hunting or trapping for food or trapping to relocate an animal but not killing just for a trophy. I am trying not to judge so help me understand. Thar cat was beautiful and sad to see it dead. I have traveled to Asia and they don't have any wild animals anymore because they've hunted them all or eaten them all. We are extremely blessed to have wild animals in the USA. I am not against hunting or trapping per se but I do question it sometimes. Thanks

    • @OutdoorMike
      @OutdoorMike 2 месяца назад

      @danforthrhodes8960 I appreciate the question and the openness to understand. We have a very large and strong population of bobcats and other predators in Arizona. If they are not properly managed, they will wipe out other populations of animals. Also, if the numbers are not managed, then nature starts killing them through disease and starvation. We had an area hit by feline distemper a while back, and it is a horrible way to die. This happened due to overpopulation. The cats are not killed for a trophy. I sell the fur and the skulls the lower Jaw is collected by Game and Fish for a scientific study they are doing on the bobcats. I also eat the meat and use the glands for baits and Lures. I also collect the feet to sell to be used in crafts like claw necklaces, key chains, hat bands, and so on. Hope this helps answer your question, and thank you for watching!

    • @danforthrhodes8960
      @danforthrhodes8960 2 месяца назад

      @OutdoorMike Thanks for the clear response. I live in Southern Arizona and have never seen a Bobcat near us. Not sure I want to see one up close haha. In my area we have deer, coyotes, javelin, and occasionally a wolf, bear and a mountain lion. I understand overpopulation issues but hate to see them killed in their prime. I am glad they're not killed as trophies. As Arizona continues to grow I am really concerned about wild animals losing their habits and then encroaching on people because they have no where else to go.
