What aircraft was that at the end of the video?
not sure its definitely a jet, maybe a Vickers Vanguard
In the good old days, before the immigrant invasion!!!!
Thank you! 3.40 - 3.43 - S. D. G. ? - and Joan?
I lived in Edinburgh during the 80s off Broughton Street. The clip clop of the horse-drawn milkie (Coop I think) was a familiar sound early in the morning. The last of the horses was retired in the mid 80s I think.
Ahh England.
I remember the Signs team at Murrayfield painting the display panels to ‘advertise’ the several tours offered at the Convention. Sadly, I don’t have any decent photo of the display. The main artist was a young pioneer brother (the name escapes me) and several of us worked on the display.
0:54 Good to see the Volvo cutting the corner in Shanklin Old Village like everybody still does 40 years later 😂
J3339 was on a black maxi in another video
Best year of my life being in my city as a 16 year old punk rocker
Only thing missing is Edinburgh.......
Look at how nice France was, wow.
Thanks for sharing. And grateful that someone in those days would have had the idea to record! Whoever they were, they can't imagine the emotions that we, "people of the future" are feeling watching these videos.
Brilliant , imagine this being shown today on national tv ? What an immence difference Scotland has become !

Edinburgh is a nice place for a visit to the town and princess street and the castle but all the beggars and junkies spoil it just a shame for all the local people who live in Edinburgh when we were younger my mum and dad God rest them would a round princess street garden s. The castle now far too dodgy with the bams hang around hunters square and so on its a joke Edinburgh proud myself
thank you brothers and sisters
A Ransomme with its original engine… 😱.
That's Waterford
There was also DIVINE VICTORY. that I attended.
I was at a Divine Purpose or Divine Sovereignty Assembly here in Adelaide. South Australia. Anyway the Biblical drama was about Noah and the flood. When the brother playing Noah said ,”The rains have come! “ ,- it started to 🌧️ heavily on the Norward Oval grounds. ! It was a drizzly day , however what a great applause from the audience in the stands there was. LOVED IT. 😂❤.
Excellent upload😊
Do you have the Divine Sovereignty Edinburgh assembly? I was baptised there! 1975. Thanks for uploading your amazing cines!
No, sorry unfortunately only 1974 and 1977
Me encantaría poder escuchar el drama de Moisés en español. Lo escuché una vez y está buenísimo. Se título Que escoge usted?
🥰❤️❤️❤️😊👍
I remember Phil Rees, an Australian.
👍
Thank you ❤️
A long association with Twickenham came to an end a few years ago. I would do preconvention work there as a lad. I loved the old green stands, the beautiful pitch and all the lovely people who filled the stadium during a convention. Wonderful memories. The best is yet to come!
Circuit overseer and his wife at 6:05 are Alan and Daphne McDonald, my parents.
thats great, they appear in other films but cant place which ones
@@tothefield3623 They are also in the 1969 Wembley 'Peace on Earth' International Assembly at 7:06. I am the baby :) Thanks so much for uploading!
👍
I wonder who the speakers were?
I’m from Edinburgh and was a young boy of 8 then, great footage, nice soundtrack, did you travel all the way from Jersey? what an adventure. I’ve been digitising old 8mm and super 8 films recently and I love preserving these memories for people, it has a special quality.
I wish you went to Twickenham instead that year because I was there in 1978 as a 2 year old.
At 4m 50 second Doug Beavor and his wife Cam. His father Ernie “Armageddon Ernie” and his wife Jessie. They came to our congregation as circuit overseer back in the early 70s.
Nice job.
Our Kingdom Hall was built around this time. My wife and I helped on purchasing. The build was overseen by a group of brothers whose company designed and oversaw the project. When we looked at the materials list we looked locally to see if we could improve on the prices. A local company supplied block paving, Greenhams. Our price from them, if memory serves correctly, was £7 a square metre compared with the company’s price of £21. We made a huge saving! My wife also sourced the base more cheaply. A couple of years llater the Society introduced the RBC into the equation.
We had a Circuit Overseer and wife stay at our home for pre-convention work, Joe and Margaret Wood. Joe was Installation Overseer and Margaret worked on Rooming. They worked so hard much of the time in Gorst Road, they came home exhausted. On Sundays occasionally Joe would take me in field service and trained me to be a shepherd. Wonderful memories.
thank you brothers and sisters
Nice work; what a fancy clock and ‘spire’! Similar to ours. We have used videos like this to show local junior schools who we are; we asked them how quick do you think this Kingdom Hall was built… 3 months, 3 weeks or 3 days? About 80% said months; 20% weeks, and not even the teacher thought 3 days!
Is that Alan Longworth in the blue suit at the start?
Aww my home town auld reekie !! I was 12 in 1978 wish I could go back to my city back in 1978 thank you for this ❤
Thank you! How rare an occurrence was snow on Jersey at the time? - And what's the music please?!
Music Calor Blanco Cumbia Deli, snows but not as often as England
Maravilha!!!!...certamente as bênçãos de JEOVÁ DEUS estava sobre eles
Shanklin pier, just 3 years before the October hurricane of '87 destroyed it.
Edinburgh? Where? I must have missed that. Looks a bit like Loch Catrine. Lovely countryside back then.
Ewart Chitty and Edgar Clay often on the program at Twickenham.
Awesome video, for a fifty year old film the quality is great.
The Kingdom smile was evident among those folks.
We worked in the car park at Twickenham and so had a listening convention in Plymouth. We stayed with a Mrs Farrell in North Road East. Happy memories of the talks, songs and pasties!
The infamous quote “this brood will be wiped out” failed. Thanks to Jehovah.
