Depends on each skin type. I mainly did for my elbow dark tone, I was also spending lot of time lying on elbows with pressure which led to the dead and dark skin. It did show good results but I also lie on elbows even now so sometimes dead skin appear but always better than the past.

@snug551 all wash same process, for example tussar silk or rawsilk etc each normal hand wash will be bad for cloth, all colour will go, so dry clean is must. Like that, some fabrics like block print cotton dry clean or colour guard is required. Depends on each fabric.
