3D PEN DEN
США
Добавлен 7 май 2020
Welcome to my 3D Pen Den.
My name is Hana Gorman. I am a mixed media artist born in the Czech Republic, now living in the US.
I got my first 3D pen for Christmas in 2016. My first session was a disaster. I only came back to give it a second try because of some tutorials I got from a handful of 3D pen artists on RUclips. Since my second 3D pen session, I have not looked back.
Over the next three years I discovered a few things which I would like to share on this channel to pay it forward and inspire a few new 3D pen enthusiasts who might be starting today.

Normally I make simple projects and they turn out well based on your demonstrations. I have been holding out on trying one of the geometric shapes you presented, but recently I actually made the cube ... it came out very well!! What a video cannot show is how smooth the cube was - a pleasure to hold an touch. I am planning on making a set for a friend's new baby. Thank you so much for such a great idea.
Go for it! Plus these shapes can make so much more then just blocks. Stay tuned.
Yay a new video ! Super helpful as useful. Thank you very much
You're so welcome! Glad it helps.
❤
:)
Full tutorial is really helpful
Glad you think so! One minute is usually not enough time to explain all the how's and why's. So the full versions are helpful. Especially if you are intending to make it or something like it.
Do you make vases please. I love the designs you make. I would love 😊to make some of your designs but don’t have the pattern you use ,could you tell me where I can get the pattern from please
All the patterns I use are here: www.etsy.com/shop/3DPenDen I am not making vases that could hold water yet. However I have made several vase/basket like designs from the two geometric patterns sets (the circles and the polygons) Watch this video that describes the process and also shows ou how to generate your own patterns. How to make the shape you want with 3d pen ruclips.net/video/53HbmQJBcoo/видео.html Here are the links to the 2 geometric sets if you decide you need them: www.etsy.com/listing/970216320/geometric-3d-pen-templates-printable-set?click_key=c7e4348ffa94e741b07d24dbf3c1f03881fc0f48%3A970216320&click_sum=5c2cc0b6&ref=shop_home_active_10 www.etsy.com/listing/984609460/geometric-3d-pen-templates-printable-set?click_key=d96a8b65acfb667b732bb9de10df05d4ff1dc44d%3A984609460&click_sum=7fbba132&ref=shop_home_active_8 Good luck!

Hi, glad to have come across your channel, just the tutorial I need. May I know the kind of material of the surface you normally work on?
I prefer plexiglass sprayed with matt acrylic finish (don't skip the spray or you won't be able to get it off at all). As it is it is you will need a spatula or palette knife to get it off (and wait until it's cold.) Here are further details: Best work surface for 3d pen ruclips.net/video/QP7YsXWvb8M/видео.html also this may help: 7 things you want from your 3d pen work surface ruclips.net/video/n9RXEH7BAzA/видео.html Good luck.
@@3DPENDEN thank you 😊💌
Is there such things as like a "synergetic" material. All I can find online, is ABS welds to ABS, PLA to PLA, super glue everything. Right now I have a couple prints incorporating wood. Although the form fitting nature of 3d printing has the piece stuck together, the flexible design of internally knows that the wood is delaminating from PLA internally. I just want a strong filler material, that can be worked with different, or have different properties, but still being a near contiguous piece. I know water bottles and milk jugs are made of PETG, ABS is found in plenty of things. I have never mixed differnt colors of plastics, will this work? Ive seen your veneer of different colors, but that was probably same brand, and plastics made for the same exact purpose.
Yes the veneers are all PLA just different colors. I mostly work exclusively with PLA. But funny you should ask this. I originally got my first pen to make elements for my artwork made from recycled plastic bags only to realize that: NO different plastics WON'T weld together. So I am afraid we are mostly stuck with glue. However some materials bond with PLA quite happily like some fabrics and papers. There is a huge room for further research. I am contemplating a new playlist "3d pen in mixed media" so stay tuned and good luck with your experiments.
Hi mam. This may sound silly. But what do you use as the base? Any plastic surface or wax paper kinda crumbles once the hot filament sticks on.
This doesn't sound silly at all. The work surface is the most important thing for your success with 3d pen. I use plexiglass sprayed with matt acrylic finish (don't skip the spray or you won't be able to remove the print at all). This video has all the details : Best work surface for 3d pen ruclips.net/video/QP7YsXWvb8M/видео.html Also this one may be helpful: 7 things you want from your 3d pen work surface ruclips.net/video/n9RXEH7BAzA/видео.html
This is a technique I’ve never seen anywhere else thank you for posting!
You are so welcome! Somehow it became a standard to sand, prime and paint but there are so many other techniques working with filament colors only that let you create surfaces that you couldn't get any other way. I find those option quite exciting. :)
Honestly, I bought the soldering tool and quickly became frustrated. I think to start, a small used oven or heat gun is more cost effective and user friendly. Super easy to polish simple prints, and makes them insanely strong! Allows you to use clear filament in some capacity because you can melt out the bubbles and imperfections. You can also buy silicone molds, and although kinda hacky, fill them with plastic, and add those to the design. There are also silicone texture mats, to texture pieces! I would consider these heating tools as well... I might be crazy though haha. Thank you so much for your videos.
I totally agree. There are so many heating tools that are helpful for 3d pen prints postprocessing. The trick is to pick the right method for the job at hand. So don't give up totally on your soldering tool because there are moments when nothing else will do. Perhaps there should be a video what to use when? Until then there is this one that explains some of it: How to get 3d pen projects from 2d to 3d - Heat forming ruclips.net/video/KwWeIYqoA-I/видео.html .... But lists are never complete. :)
You could make a killing at voice acting
She sounds like Edna Mode from the Incredibles lol
Funny you should say that. I was very self conscious about my accent when I first started. Then I decided since I can't get rid of it I might as well own it. :)
Would be an honor to be like Edna. :)
What is the tool you use
The one in the thumbnail is a woodburning tool with a leaf tip. (Walnut Hollow wood-burning tool: amzn.to/36eWr4M ) In the video there are couple of others. Since that video was made I also started using this one: Welding Soldering Iron with Thermostatic Digital-Controlled and LCD Screen Display amzn.to/3Kn8COJ This last one works well and heats up a lot faster then the other ones. Good luck.
Excellent video, I am wondering if I want to trace a drawing and glue it on paper, what glue would be the most accurate?
Thanks. I would use spray adhesive Super 77 (3M brand or the Scotch brand) that does the cleanest job. You can also use super glue (the ultra liquid formula) but that can get a bit messy looking if you are not super careful.
It helps soo much thanks😊
You're welcome 😊
Genial
Thanks. :)
You are absolutely incredible.
Thanks. :)
Is too much to do, I will just buy a teddy at the store 😅
I know. It's for the diehards. :)
❤
This is honestly so clever. Thanks for the detailed explanation! :)
Glad it was helpful!

You should put together a 3d pen den starter kit together and sell it.
I will leave selling the pens and filament to others. As for other helpful starter items like patterns for example check out my Etsy www.etsy.com/shop/3DPenDen
Please share more ideas, if you can.
Will do. :)
Your marks have such character and grace to them, and at the same time, yet also allow the wearer to be both see and be seen. This balance is lovely, as are the patterns. Thank you for the tutorial.
Wow, thank you!
Great 3-d work. Love the play dough.
Yea. The play dough makes it way easier to get the shape you want.
I started creating with 3D Pen about 5 years ago and something that disappointed me so much was the lack of information or advice online. I’d see people creating the most amazing things but not sharing any of their wisdom or information about how they made it. Thank you for breaking that trend and sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!
I rely on youtube for advice on everything from software to how to change a Dremel bit. Only reason I can do that is because some kind soul put the info out there. So I am just trying to pay back my "education loans" by sharing what I know to keep the system going. :)
:)
Nice and informative - as always! Thank you verye much! 👍❤️
My pleasure!
Incredible
Thanks. :)
This is truly one of the finest and most detailed videos I’ve ever watched. You’ve spent a lot of time and conducted thorough research-hats off to you for the hard work! This will be incredibly helpful for beginners, showing that it’s not just the pen that matters but the surface as well. Thank you so much
Thanks. I made this so people don't give up on their pens thinking it's the pen or their skill that's the problem. Because most of the time it is the surface. I almost gave up initially because of it.
Awesome work! Glad to see some short form 3D pen content!
More to come! Sometimes I worry it's not enough time to explain it all the way. But then there is always a link to the full version if people need it.
What is the blue stuff?
It's Play-Doh's "Sculpt and mold" clay. Regular Play-Doh works too. However some clays are unsuitable for this type of use. If you need more info watch this one: ruclips.net/video/iHkMDJ8GZEY/видео.html
@@3DPENDEN thanks!

Another excellent and well informing video from your hand THX! 👍
My pleasure!
You are by far my favorite youtuber for teaching with a 3D pen. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
You are amazing! It is always a pleasure watching these videos. Thank you ❤️
You are so welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment. It's important to me to feel there is an audience on the other side for whom my efforts matter. :)
:)
I got mine a month a go. I watched your video helped alot to choose what one I wanted. Thank you so much. Have lots of fun with mine. Clay
Hope you enjoy it!
I just gotmin
:)
I have the same 3Dpen as you and you are wrong 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Where???
Thanks a lot for yet another great tutorial!
Glad you liked it!
I LOVE your videos as they are incredibly helpful and don't feel like "clickbait"! Keep up with what you're doing, I genuinely appreciate creators like you guys ♥︎ However I have one complaint, I had to turn your video's volume down to practically zero as the music is so overwhelmingly loud. Just some genuine feedback to help you improve in whatever ways: if needed anyways, lol. Keep doing what you're doing, I look forward to your next video 😀
Glad you like them! I will keep my eye on the volume going forward. I wasn't aware it feels like it's too loud. Thanks for the feedback. It's important to me the audience has a pleasant experience and doesn't get distracted from the subject matter. Several shorts are already cued up but I will watch the volume in the following videos.
thanks, very good idea, I will use it to make my chessboard, will my wife lend me her iron ? that's the real question, LOL
I must say if I was your wife I wouldn't let you. Sometimes the plastic residue gets on the iron. I use cheap second hand iron from a thrift store and occasionally clean it by ironing a bunch of paper towels on the hottest setting. Crafting irons get messy. :)
@@3DPENDEN thanks,i will buy an iron only for that.
Ah yes marble tiles being the most important step of course
Something (anything) heavy helps to keep the sheets from warping while cooling.
And if i dont have marble tiles...what then
That's such a ridiculous hypothetical everyone has marble tiles
Anything flat and heavy will do. Marble makes the cooling faster because it's so cold.
I liked the part where the triangle was made, then you go and destroy it?😢
You can of course stop at any stage. But this is one way to make the colors blend and close all the holes. :)
I made a blimp and a plane then covered it with coloured tissue paper with gum glue then slightly wet the tissue to create a drum tight covering, just wondering have you tried similar techniques and tips so I can improve ?
That's a really good idea. A lot of sculptures are made like that except using wire armatures instead of 3d pen ones. There is a whole bunch of materials that can be incorporated in the 3d pen projects. I am planning to post some of those "mixed media" projects. Just haven't gone around to it yet.
impressive
Thanks.
