I say GIF. I reject the word creator's reality and substitute my own.

I think the reason people like to say GIF is to further confuse non-english speakers with the word GIFT

I don't care what the creator said. The word is an acronym for "graphic interchange format", and that starts with a hard 'G' - it's GIF.
Language is determined by those who use it, not by authorities who dictate it from on high. When someone says that the developer of the format pronounces it "jif" that's not "the end of the debate" because that's not how language works. "Gif" makes more sense because the 'g' stands for "graphics", and because "Jiff" is a peanut butter (and it's the more commonly used of the two), but neither is objectively wrong.

Roughly 70% of people say GIF, whereas 30% of people say JIF. Just because you create a word, you don't get to decide how its pronounced. He once wrote "IT'S PRONOUNCED JIF, NOT GIF" in a 5 word acceptance speech. You can see the problem there...

He's right you know... there are three "to's". After all, if I were to talk about myself in relation to another person or thing, I'd be speaking about said person or thing, and myself too. But if if I were talking about more than one of something, I'd mention there being two of that something. XD And yet.... despite how wierd English is, it technically doesn't have a single spelling for a word that means multiple different things, and only has a single alphabet to account for. ;p
