@@DC_ I want to get her more settled and relaxed in the walk and trot first. We did a test here last time, she took it all in her stride this time and wasn't fazed by banners etc 😁
That was such a good exposure to the dressage world! The extended walk was especially relaxed and she has all the talent for extended trot. So much to look forward too both of you !
@@ceciliavondehn4402 thank you. She's still struggling with the other horses around her so it was a shame the door was open and she could hear/see the others as much as she may have been less tense ....but it's all in the practice and she did amazing 😍
Well done! You did better than me when I took my young mare, giraffe was the word that sprang to mind with me 😂

I did wonder why you put her in the bit when your practice day was beautiful?? She fights the bit as soon as you put pressure on her rein, anyway I thought the both of you had lots of confidence, well done.she is looking lovely also❤
I didn't think we were ready to do a course bitless and we didn't have a proper bridle at this point. It was this show where I decided to get one as I hadn't been so sure if it was working due to lack of steering and she was getting stronger by the end.
She looks fab! How do you find the harmony clippers?
Yeah they're brilliant. They've all I've used for years now having sensitive thoroughbreds they work a treat!

I believe we sometimes think we should sell our horses because we think we’re not “good enough “ to train them through the tough times… guess what? You are and together you both will realise your dreams’

Feed biotin
She is on an all-round hoof balancer.
We got a lovely 4yr filly off the track 8yrs ago and took her shoes off for her time off and she has never had them put back on!!!! We are barefoot riders anyway, all the horses have " scooter booters" on, all have a trim every 6wks and they do all disciplines😊 so don't loss faith, it is so much cheaper.
@@JudyHall-wq8kg Yeah, I will be trying again. Not for saving money as my barefoot trimmer actually costs more than a farrier but for the health of her feet :D. Scoot boots didn't quite fit her but she has some Flex boots ready :D
@hopefullyeventing wow more expensive!!!!! A trim for us is $50 and a full shoe is $130, all our horses have very good hard feet our climate is very different over here in Western Australia 😀
@@JudyHall-wq8kg Yeah a farrier here usually charges about £25 for a trim but our barefoot trimmers are £35-45. She only has front shoes on so it doesn't make much difference.
confidence is a funny thing and we often put the most pressure on ourselves.
I've never had a lot of it but I am usually about to push myself as I know I enjoy it, I think it took me by surprise when it knocked me so much I nearly gave it all up.
Id say you got a great box of very useful items!!

@@debbiealdis400 I explain in the video that I was actually keeping her. The whole out of sight out of mind to make it easier for her to be sold didn't work. Lol

High head carriage of a very alert racehorse. The more you quietly approach a fence and just give her chance to work it out without raising her stress she is a goer and a stunner. Just legs creating the tunnel and open hands to funnel her too. She is super just give her time.
@@egeegee7146 thanks but I've been there and done the allowing everything to be completely quiet and we both ended up losing our confidence so I've changed my riding to suit her needs and it's working well.

Yeah, I have learnt to ride her much better after realising and I've just managed to get in a better frame of mind about everything. :)

I loved this so much! Your mare is lovely and you are so great with her. I also understand the struggle over what is the best path forward, and I'm glad you elected to keep her. I bought my OTTB mare at age four 2 years ago just as I was beginning to be plagued by what would turn out to be a totally debilitating back issue that finally landed me into fusion back surgery this past June. While the pain of the recovery was horrific at first, I am pain-free now 3 months post and finally cleared to ride. I'm still weak as kitten so I am putting Abby with a trainer for a month or so until I regain my strength and then I hope for us to get back on track--hopefully with similar success you have achieved with Pea! Good luck to you both!

You could be an Olympic champion and people would still tell you you’re not suited to your horse. You’ve done incredible things with her. Very few paths of success are straight up.

You and Pea have come so far together and I know you will make this work because you already are…. You should be so very proud of yourself and what you have accomplished with Pea over your last few months. She needs to know that you are there for her and vice versa and your videos are already showing that this relationship is building. You are so capable and Pea dealt with and got past so much on this hack and that is down to you. You deserve a massive pat on the back - two superstars together x

She looks like she tries to please, what else can you ask for.. I think you’re right about adjusting your riding, which I think will make you feel better. The bigger the challenge the bigger your reward. You’re a great team, ignore the sad naysayers make a firm decision. Stick with it. You’ve achieved so much already, well done. Keep going..
