Imagine if Square decided to release _this_ version of the game after all these years. Watching the combat just blew my mind at the time as I was trying to wrap my head around it. I would love to play this version of the game.

This looks great to this day but I still don’t understand why people say this “looks better than what we got.” Most if not all these scenes are still in the game (some shot for shot) and the only thing missing is the rest of the cast. As for the gameplay, there is none. Just a cutscene with a HUD and numbers to look like gameplay. So unless people mean this trailer implying XIII was a Lightning solo game “looks better than what we got,” I don’t know what to say because there is no evidence to glean from this that it could have been better than the final product.

Even to this day I still don't know why they changed the system. This looked so amazing when I first saw this battle system and still wish for a game that would use this system.

Wow, is this trailer entirely different from the game I am currently playing through. XD I mean, in the opening segment, there was no Lightning crashing through the window ceiling and going all mono-e-mono on Sanctum soldiers caught in a field produced by a gravity bomb!

Hard to believe that this is still up... back in 07 when i saw this i thought it was the biggest hype until i clicked around to find that one Versus XIII trailer play it a million times later.

FFXV went trough same struggle like XIII... XIII didn't took so many years to release. Now I look this game as a classic! One of my fave final Fantasy! :)

Just finished this game. It left me with a "meh" feeling. I found the battle system really boring, the lack of towns and mini-games made it feel like a dungeon crawler, the final boss had way too much HP and the story wast typical shounen fodder. Hope should be renamed Shinji and Lightining is actually "Heero Yuy after a sex change, dying his hair pink". Not that I don't like Anime inspired stories, designs and settings, in fact, I love them! However, if you want to make a game in that style, you gotta do it full-on, not half-assed! Grandia II and the Lunar series, are awesome games that did the shounen/anime theme correctly, from music to design and that's why they are a thousand times better than this boring trite! They also have better battle systems too! Moreover, the main antagonist sucked and has way too much HP! Yet, I still finished it because it's FF and I admit I'll play the next one, just because it's FF.

Man this game was awesome i wish you could do that move at 0:55 though with light. Most final fantasy games are perfect RPG games the only three things i hated about this one was that final fantasy was usually a open world from almost the very start while this one was just a set course of storyline and a barrage of boss battles and limited Leveling up even maxing out the crysturium it felt challenging but it was well rewarded, but the game doesn't become open world till towards the end and even then it was just a small playground of running back and forth. The 2nd was the gil system: enemies dropped no gil and you couldn't get enough gil to buy decent items or weapons till you could beat up guards to get incentive chips or perfume to sell so grinding for literally days was such a pain just to get a strong inventory. The 3rd was the shop system i loved final fantasy for it's amazing towns and cities and being able to go into the stores and stack up on my inventory and go back out an grind some more but all the towns were limited to just the story path and once you got to the open world you couldn't go back not that it would matter because the store system was on a save panel it was nice to be able to purchase whatever whenever but it lost the appeal of going to this awesome town or city and walking into the store to purchase weapons or magic/Materia that is all. The story line is amazing though it felt bad only because we all wanted to get to a open world where final fantasy felt like final fantasy but if you stop and try not to rush yourself it's a good storyline. The gameplay did feel like watching a movie and a lot more strategy set then most final fantasy games. It made it interesting but i missed just being set on a 99 on everything (potion high potion phoenix downs antidote, and yes i know your health goes back after combat and all status ailments are cured but i actually hated that)badass weapons and high level and skills. The graphics are godly or atleast were in it's time of release hours of gameplay was pretty good and like all final fantasy games the music was perfect it was soothing when you hit that title screen and got you pumped up in the battles and even the emotional scenes were well played out. The story was amazing,graphics and sound was amazing as well but what stopped this game for reaching the top rating for me was the set track of gameplay up into the very end. 8/10

This wasn't false advertising... music was epic in normal fights... and boss music is phenomenal.
