i have finally reached a more difficult to comprehend part in your great and greatfully appreciated lectures. will have a break and go back a few minutes of the lecture and re-start, mark
Good work
Thank you so much!!!
im a student at NEU and fell sick due to the flu, this saved me from falling further behind in class. Thank you!
I'm happy to hear this video helped. I hope you feel better soon!!
Amazing explanation. Thank you so much.
You are welcome!! Thank you for the feedback :)
This is fantastic, thank you so much. It is hard to find quality linear algebra sources online. I give this one an A+. I see you have a link to some blank practice sheets. Is there a way for us to verify our solutions?
Hi. You are welcome! I have videos going over each extra practice worksheet in this playlist!
Amazing lecture! Thanks! Do you have any resources on the applications on SVD?
i have just completed the third lecture in this series and i have to say your lectures have been so helpful. i have tried the oxford first lecture (only one i could find) and the mit series with prof strand and started on the princeton series. the oxford there were gaps where a lay person like myself needed a segway lecture to connect. prof strang must have been a great lecturer but i found his lectures disjointed as i also found with the princeton bloke where i loved his first lecture but the beginning of lecture 2 again i needed an interim lecture to fill the gap so thanks again. i hope you have downloaded other mathematics subjects, mark
Thank you for the feedback :).
Always efficient, thanks for sharing
You are welcome :)
Thanks it was very interesting ..
You are welcome!
I have an arbitrary matrix A and an arbitrary column vector b. I am asked to determine whether the system [A|b] can be inconsistent, can have a unique solution, or can have infinitely many solutions. I’ve devised a method and wanted to confirm whether or not it works. We have our matrix A. We row reduce the matrix A to write it into Row Echelon Form: call this new matrix B. If there is a pivot in every row and a pivot in every column of B, then: [A|b] must not be inconsistent. [A|b] must have a unique solution by the Invertible Matrix Theorem. [A|b] must not have infinitely many solutions. If there is a pivot in every row of B but not a pivot in every column of B, then: [A|b] may or may not be inconsistent. [A|b] must not have a unique solution. [A|b] may or may not have infinitely many solutions. If there is not a pivot in every row of B but there is a pivot in every column of B, then: [A|b] may or may not be inconsistent. [A|b] may or may not have a unique solution. [A|b] must not have infinitely many solutions. If there is not a pivot in every row of B and there is not a pivot in every column of B, then: [A|b] may or may not be inconsistent. [A|b] must not have a unique solution. [A|b] may or may not have infinitely many solutions. Is this method okay or is it flawed in any way? Thank you so much!!
Good work
Thank you!
THANK YOU
You are welcome :) :) :)
i'm at 3'16' and am enjoying it immensely have watched prof strang from mit, and a prof from oxford (one lecture only) and a lecturer banning? from princeton and get confused watching prof strang, typical oxford as he leaves gaps that someone like myself needs a segway between the end of one sentence and the beginning of the next. thought the Princeton series of lectures on linear algebra have been the best so far. i will continue after i wash the dishes and thanks for posting dr hower
how do you know that reference angle is pi/4 when cos theta = sqrt(2)/2 in 20:33?
God bless you for providing this for free.
You are welcome!
wow great teacher thanks...
You are welcome! Thank you for the feedback.

Prof, your first linear algebra course is excellent, looking forward to this one as well coz I am excited to see what refinements are you gonna be, and i had to fast pace through that playlist. So, definitely looking to study linear algebra in depth in the near future and will have fresh content! Don't know if you know this or not, is this much linear algebra enough for if you want to learn AI? Happy new year! :)
Happy new year to you. I anticipate few to no edits. Perhaps a review video here or there will be added. I made this playlist welcome video to address questions I get from viewers (textbook, pace, suggested exercises). I am teaching the course this term so if I think my current students could benefit from a video, I will add it. But no major overhauls are planned. thanks so much.
Thank you so much. Truly appreciate your video's.
You are so welcome!!!! I appreciate your comment :)
appreciated very much and well presented with positive enegry of yours thank you
You are welcome! thanks so much for your kind words. :) :)
Thanks
You are welcome! Happy New Year to you!
Dr. Valerie, you have a done a great job in making these videos. I remember the time that we were just talking about you doing this on the drive to a run! Have a great year!
Phil, thanks so so much! I hope you have a wonderful 2025 as well :)
Thank you for making this public. I just finished my linear algebra final exam like 2 days ago, and I never even watched a single vid from your channel throughout the entire semester. But, I just wanna say that I really appreciate you for all of the work you done, and your generosity to not gatekeep education.
Thank you so much. :). I appreciate the comment and kind words. (also Happy new year to you!)
Yaaaaaay!
:) :) :)
Thank u soo much Dr. Valerie, I'm from Pakistan and I want to learn maths as I was not really good in it from the start nor had a background from maths, this playlist is going to help me alot 😊😊
Wonderful! Thank you so much for the comment :). Best wishes to you!
Thank you Dr. Hower! As a math hobbyist I appreciate all of your wonderful RUclips videos!
Thank you so much!! Happy New Year to you :)
Thank you Dr. Valerie! My exam is in about 2 weeks, and I've gained a lot from your tutorials. Best regards from Alexandria Faculty of Engineering, Egypt!
You are welcome! I appreciate your comment and best wishes for your exam!! :)
Good luck on your exam!
You mention homework but I don't know what homework you talking about because I saw the last video to the end and I don't see the homework
Hi. I just made a welcome video for this playlist: ruclips.net/video/mSttI50T7MM/видео.htmlsi=7LzzPHLqx3Fq7cx3 I address your concern. thanks so much
@DrValerieHower thanks and happy new year 🎊
there are many Linear algebra tutorial course i have checked many, but decided that is is the correct and here I am greeting and thank from el salvador
Wow! Welcome. Thank you so much! I hope you find my videos helpful for you :)
@@DrValerieHower I love the way you teaching I understand all
@@PINEDARONALD thank you!!
Is dx really an infinitesimal distance or can it be interpreted as for every x
In mathematics, "for every" is a quantifier and has a different symbol.
36:12 I was very amused! 😊
Thank you! Ha! this is wonderful to hear :)
great video ! Respect from Turkey
Thank you so much!!
Taking calc 2 next semester after narrowly missing getting a B. I’m a little nervous because I’ve heard so many bad things about it. I’m gonna watch these to get familiar and hopefully make my anxiety a little less bad!
Thank you for your comment! I wish you the best in Calculus 2. It is my favorite of the calculuses :).
this whole playlist is as clear as it gets, thank you so much
You are welcome! I really appreciate the feedback :). best wishes to you!
wish me luck I got my finals in an hour
I hope your final exam is going well. Sending you positive thoughts as you may be taking it now!!
I am truly, truly grateful that you are willing to share these videos. It’s such a coincidence that we are using the same textbook, and the content is largely similar (also skipping the fourth chapter). Many times, I can’t fully understand what our professor is teaching (although he is a very kind person). After watching your videos and combining them with the readings, I’ve gained a whole new understanding of linear algebra. Thank you so much!
You are welcome!! I am glad to hear my videos have helped you understand linear algebra. It is such a fun subject :). Best wishes to you!

Mohamed from Morocco Long-life Maths learner
Dear Mohamed, I very much appreciate your feedback. Your kind words are very touching and I thank you for sharing!
is this for math majors?
At Northeastern, our math majors take this linear algebra course as a first course in linear algebra.
can someone please answer my question i have final tomorrow's morning, so how can we know that this is a free variable?
The dimensions of Sigma is wrong
Hi. While I appreciate the comment, the size of matrix Sigma is easy to figure out. We know U and V must be square. We also know the size of matrix A. I do not believe there is a mistake in this video in regards to the size of a matrix.
Love for mathematics ❤
Yes! Great to hear :)
It's awesome very simply explained every concept
Thank you so much for the kind words!
do you have a book recommendation because i got lost at the last question asking about the derivative
Hi! thanks for the comment. for linear algebra, I use Bretscher "Linear Algebra with Applications" 5th edition. For practice with derivatives, you could reference a Calculus textbook. Thanks!
thank you, very good video
Thanks so much!!
I like the way you passionate about the lessons.. I like your energy and dedication.. Thank you for your existence
You are welcome!! I really appreciate your kind words :)
