We did Llangollen in early July as our first narrowboat holiday (we were on the big 68 footer, heh, but we were fine on the narrows by sending someone ahead!), and it was pretty darn busy. Trevor was absolutely packed. Surprised it's quiet! And yes, the flow on the aqueduct was nuts. We crawled, but on the other hand - then on the way back, flew from Llangollen to Ellesmere in a day.

I just love the sound of that engine and horn.👍😎

Back in the 80's it took a couple of mins to walk into town from the mooring at Whichurch. When I returned in 2016 it took 20 mins..Couldn't get my head around it until the landlord of the Old Town Hall Vaults said back in the 90's most of the Whichurch Arm was filled in for development. Now the town suffers from lack of boaters..Terrible decision. Anyway keep on chugging folks👍🍺

The foliage has been cut back, so you can now read the lock name again. It was hard to walk that side of the lock back in May

Went past the Willymoor Lock Tavern twice a few years ago, shut both times so never went in. I remember that tricky lock with the wash...Nice vid folks👍

Langollen is notorious for being shallow if you have a deep bottomed boat.

I have just rewatched this one as it almost echos our experience on Wednesday. We had to divert due to Ashton being closed and no idea when it would reopen. We got to the first lock to find two boats ahead. On getting through the first and second lock, one of the boats in front had run aground. In order to rectify the situation my son and I resorted to flushing water from above lock 5 through lock 4 and into the pound that was drained. In return, it was agreed that we would pass the two boats, which were in convoy.
