No, he’s not an asshole. He’s trying to keep assholes like you from ramming up the closed lane and causing a bottleneck at the last minute like you guys always do. It’s been proven that that actually slows the traffic flow 3 to 4 times more.

If you had any common sense, you'd realize he's speeding up the merge process!!! If you go to the movie theater & there's a line for tickets, do you cut the line & say get out of my way? If you go to grocery store bc your nagging wife needs butter to make cookies & feed her face & there's a line to checkout, do you tell ppl to bad I got 1 item I'm going b4 everyone else? So what gives you dumb a** ppl in 4 wheelers the right to pass everyone waiting their turn to merge? You think your safe inside your crate you call a car!!!! Learn the rules of the road!!!! That truck driver is doing what most drivers do. He is stopping you azz hole 4 wheelers from running right down to the arrow board and cutting in front of the truckers that are tired of having to push a clutch in and step on the brakes. People in cars and pickup trucks are 🫏holes

I see a lot of truck drivers and regular car drivers like to automatically assume the role of traffic control although he is not a bad example because he's right behind the traffic that's in front of him but a lot people think it's their job to control the traffic when it's not

No, hes keeping aholes like you from clogging up the merging lane because they apparently cant see the posted signs miles before merging.

Clearly merging to one lane based on the construction signs. Too many A holes rush in trying to get ahead of others and end up making it more congested and dangerous. Follow his patient manner and everyone gets through the merge and emerges at the other end where they can then stomp the throttle if they choose.

Maybe if drivers would stop trying to push the vehicle in front of them through the congestion, the zipper merge would be effective and blocking would be unnecessary.

Obviously your not a truck driver to be calling this driver a asshole instead of understanding what the driver is doing but if that driver is a asshole as you claim then they say it takes one to know one. So what does that make you?

I get why hes doing it. Ive been trucking for 8 years and see this all the time. It is however, wrong. Lane closure ahead and people are aloud to use the lane until the merge. Were tired of getting cut off for sure. But all this does is change the bottleneck point it doesnt relieve traffic at all. The ones directly behind him will just be the ones fighting for the lane. And the real pricks can just run past on the shoulder. It is in fact illegal to block a road without a permit or escort etc. This guy is doing just that. I get it, but i just grab the lane i need as soon and safe as possible, keep about a truck lenght of space and crawl at a consistent pace. Ill take my turn soon enough and without risking my cdl.

Do a little experiment for yourself, and it's a touch easier if you've got a trailer on. Next time you're coming to a lane closure, stay in the through lane and get an approximate time for getting to the point of being in the single lane. Then, next time, do what this guy did and get your time that way. Repeat the scenarios and figure for yourself which one is more efficient.

I do the same thing. People think they are special and go flying up the lane knowing they have to merge but don’t care about anyone but themselves. I’m not a semi driver but my Ram 1500 does an excellent job of blocking the lane

Was out there35 years,I used to do that because all the special people in there cars would pass all they could right up to the merge and make everything come to a stop just to let the special person in

I have almost 2 million miles driving Class 8 Tractor Trailers. What he is doing will get him a ticket in lots of areas.

As a 20 yr trucker I can say he is absolutely doing the right thing in order to prevent congestion. You see people like you wait until the very last minute to merge into one lane that is open cutting people off when you've had multiple warnings ahead that is one lane. You are the problem.

Instead of worrying about him you should be worrying about cleaning up that Dash from all that trash. You've got bigger problems.

Thats the opposite of an asshole. Preventing congestion farther up the highway. And doing you no harm. You weren't going to get ahead whether they did that or not.

Is he though? I assume your merging in a 1,000 feet, it's common for people to try to get ahead. But isn't more convenient to merge way earlier, instead of at the start of the ending lane. Which causes heavy traffic to begin with. There are signs for three miles indicating a lane closure. I think the a-holes are those that try jump ahead of everyone, not just truckers. I don't like being behind one either. As soon as a lane is open after a lane closure, I'm just gonna be behind the next guy. Well, there's my 2 cents worth for the day.
