I do controller/game console/crt tv refurbishing and repair. I like to make montage videos in my spare time, gundam kits have been the main feature of these videos.
Gundam Waterslide Decal Tutorial [In-Depth Guide]
In this video I will be demonstrating my process for applying waterslide decals on gundam/gunpla kits. The kit being used as an example is the MG Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog (Premium Bandai exclusive). I previously did a short tutorial on this and figured I would try making a more detailed walkthrough.

does it come with a stand?
@matriix18 yes, this kit does come with a small stand
If you afraid that sharp edges on tweezer may rip the decal or scratch the kit’s surface. Use wooden toothpick instead
@EukalyptusBonBon I stated to use a toothpick in step 2, although toothpicks can also damage decals if you aren't careful. the least risky thing would be semi firm q-tip

Did you top coat it after putting the decals?
@loiedonn4192 in this video, the kit was not top coated in any footage
@@arised_death oh how is the water slide decals holding without topcoat? I have the same kit and still thinking which top coat to use but cant decide if flat or gloss.
@@loiedonn4192 decals still looking as great as the week I applied them, if I were to top coat this kit I would likely end up doing matte. I'm not super big on gloss top coat unless the finish is metallic

it's an awesome clear kit, if you paint some accents they really pop through the shell. becomes a sweet showpiece, the stand it comes on makes it ready to display too

@Centzaurion it's a great kit, feels pretty big for a HG and has a lot of accessories. I recently got the premium bandai hg geara zulu and I can't wait to build that one

Did you do anything to tighten up the hands? My biggest complaint with this kit besides the lacking articulation is the super loose hands.
@holidayjones2824 I don't remember having an issue with joints on this kit but I have heard people use a small layer of clear nail polish or hobby cemment to make the fitment better on loose joints. masking tape is also an option to make things more snug
I feel like, as far as color accuracy goes, this is one of the worst kits out there. I wanted to buy one so bad, but as soon as I saw the colors it killed it. I don’t have an airbrush set up yet, otherwise I’d just paint it myself.

Ok. I just got my first kit with water slides and they are pre cut? How the hell do you deal with those?
@@Garrett.1111 I'm not familiar with waterslide decals being pre-cut but I'd imagine the application process is about the same minus cutting them off the sheet

How do you cut everything out before! How can you keep everything organized???
@adam_pirate_9910 there's a couple ways, sometimes I sort parts by runner or section of the kit such as left leg/arm right leg/arm, torso/chest, head, backpack, weapons etc. I normally use trays to seperate the parts, they can be seen in various videos of mine. When you build a lot of different kits, over time it becomes easier recognizing where a part may go. When I am cutting parts, I will refer to the manual and sort parts by sections like I mentioned above
