Adobe medium for blocking out the design, Adobe Modeler for the higher detail. Blender Cycles raytrace - some shredding in the denoise. Looks pretty cool anyway :) #adobemedium #adobemodeler #b3d #vr #scifi

i feel ur from future.. im seeing it 3 years late
Amazing man simply amazing!
Hi Stirling77, Ive managed to get to pinning OBS inside medium but i cant see through the oculus mirror layer to the webcam video capture source of myself. depending on which layer I put up above the other I cant see through to the other. I had it once with the controllers in hand and was able to record myself sculpting but I can't seem to get back to this point. Any suggestions?
Allot has changed since the tutorial was made, It may have to do with the order of the stack in the obs inputs.
@@maayaa77 Thanks for your reply. I changed the colours and it worked fine
Awesome news, yes colour pick the alpha channel, green screen.
Genius!
Just discovered this jems! Keep doing videos. Do you have artstation or instagram?
Great work !
Your video made me go buy a VR to try this out. Thanks
Awesome don't forget to try out Modeler 🤘

Hi, i really love your work and videos, and im currently studying to become a VFX artist, so i love to learn about new workflows and i'd have some questions about this project: 1. I read that you rendered the model in blender, so did you import the model straight out of Medium or did you retopo it first? if yes, how did you do that? If no, is there anything to watch out for while working in Medium to make your models work in other software? 2. Did you do the materials in blender or did you use a seperate software? 3. So far i've only done polygon modeling, so i dont know much about sculpting, but how does medium handle UV's (If you dont have to retopo it in the first place) Thank you in advance for your time :) I feel like Medium has a very natural workflow for sculpting and creating concepts, and your channel inspired me to give it a try!
Medium > 3dcoat > blender ;)
i know that Medium is quite a nieche programm, but still you deserve mor attention, these videos are amazing!
how would people appraise this app vs adobe substance modeler?
Same under the hood, Modeler is built from the ground up.. heaps more power than medium. But medium still has a creative playfulness Modeler is yet to settle.
may i know what tools (vr tools) you use? thank you
Do you mean Headset ? Or App ? Adobe Medium and Gravity Sketch. Headsets - Rift-S and Quest 2
@@maayaa77 thank you :)
Hi Stirling 77. Another awesome demo! I've recently checked out your sculpting in VR adobe medium with mixed reality set up and it's a great tutorial. I'm stuck half way when you close occulus mirror and all I have is my laptop video image of myself in obs. Do you offer tutorials for newbies like me who are getting into vr sculpting with mixed reality?
Hi Stirling 77. Thanks for putting up this awesome tutorial. I've been using traditional sculpting method for years but only recently changed to digital as I'm not very computer savvy. I've managed to follow the tutorial up to switching off oculus mirror but I just get the laptop camera view of myself. Ive tried it a number of times but not sure where I've gone wrong. Do you offer assistance for newbies like me apart from this video? Thanks
Sometimes OBS is buggy with the input you choose - game capture or window - maybe check that out. You have to have two source inputs - webcam and game/window capture.
@@maayaa77 thanks for that. I'll give it a go
Hi, i hope u see this, when im trying desktop preview my avata show up and cover me,, how to hide them??
I think disable the avatar in medium prefs
Thanks a lot
Thank you
I really enjoyed this. I almost left the video early when you started saving. Glad I stayed and learned a few more tricks at the end.

Las transparencias las has hecho en el mismo adobe medium?
No medium doesn’t have transparency. Just metal PBR surfaces. Gravity sketch has transparency.
ASMR sculping ;p
Can someone tell me how he's set up the video like this please? Like to make it so you can see his room and what he's sculpting
ruclips.net/video/0Wl1YO9kpHw/видео.html
Thank you, I am learning medium and It seems a lot more easier to model in medium than something like blender honestly
Interesting workflow! What is the advantage of sketching it "in 2D" if you will, versus sketching volumetrically with clay from the get go and refining the shapes?
It’s an exercise to sketch and split parts, a bit like an axis router in many ways, but the 2D is good as it can be easier to gauge the form when in VR as VR stereo can mess with perspective and proportion. And the other benefit is planning.
so fun to watch man
Thanks man !!
Omg thank you so much ma.
Pleasure 🤘
Perfect timing. I was just visiting your channel for some info on clean medium work. Thank you for sharing this.
Mate, I envy your steady hands. :D Mine are shaky as.
You can activate a steady hand when bouding box in the clay options. also try using furniture around you as guides or maybe your own body. remember you can move the whole sculpt and align it to something in your room. a sofa. A chair a table use that as rulers or guides.
what software did you use for rendering. Cool work
This was done in blender and eevee :)
Outstanding. Cool ship and environment
Thank you 🙏
Awesome !
Thanks Claire
NIIIICE! RocknRoll! 👍🏼 How did you record this such smooth?
It’s a strange thing to enjoy watching, but I really love watching artists make decisions in real-time, like you did with the sketch. Being able to spot the exact moment when an idea clicks in super cool to me.
Thank you I appreciate it !!
thank you for uploading the real-time video! this is super helpful!!!!
going to have to watch this again.. at least once.. probably more than once🤔 .. all i'm after is a short video of me squirting shaving foam in medium to show my mates and their kids😳
coool!
Hey brother, I took off the VR and rested for a while, but when I start sculpting again, the position of the camera will change. Is there any way to make it never move?
That’s a hard one, it may have something to do with your facing position - maybe try and take off the head set facing the front of the oculus play area.
@@maayaa77 Hahaha, damn, it seems there is only this way
Fantastic tutorial. Thanks
Such an awesome demo! I can't wait to start implementing this into my stream! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video
Man, First great job !! Also, can tell me how you made this screenshot ?
I have a tutorial on my channel
Dude, GENIUS bro...... concepting straight onto an image plane XD
NICE!
Awesome design! This is a great example of how I try to explain to people what it’s like to work in VR. Being able to create from seemingly nothing in midair is an experience like no other.
Total creative freedom!!
20:15 those slabs of clay. Can they be merged?
Absolutely 🤘 then printed 🤩
@@maayaa77 Nice
Hey man! keep the videos up. What PC set up are you currently using?
Thanks 🤘 PC set up is ryzen 9 64gb ram RTX 2080ti :) My other machine is Xeon 6core GTX 1070ti and 48gb ram. This machine I have build heaps of medium sculpts on.
@@maayaa77 Sounds great! I recently got the Quest 2 and looking to link it to a PC build eventually. Currently using Gravity Sketch tho!
This is a very cool approach to sharing sculpting :)) except at the end there was a sudden cut to what looks like a very different sculpt.. was that some invert command?
Thanks, I just hid the upper layer of a part I didn’t like the rest was made in the same session :)
Alright. You’ve convinced me to get off my Cintiq and give VR a shot... Consider me a 3D generalist with a decent background in Blender and Zbrush - where might you suggest I first go to learn the basics of VR sculpting and well... yeah, let’s start there. =p Also, thanks for taking the time to demo your work and processes in various ways.
