    How do you get your pinky to stop crowding finger 3?

    • @thomasaitken7495
      @thomasaitken7495 13 дней назад

      To clarify, 4-pinky has a terrible curve towards 3. When held straight, 4 stays that way. When folded, it wants to press into 3.

    • @guitargpsmethod
      @guitargpsmethod 12 дней назад

      Hmm, hard to say exactly without seeing your hand. I do have a few other videos on technique... Is it impeding your playing or just an annoyance at this point? if just an annoyance sometimes players hands just need to develop from playing more guitar (yes provided your technique isn't all jacked up). Watch your thumb position on back on neck, curvature of wrist (keep it straight) play on finger tips. Playing on frets 1-4 are the hardest due to frets being wider and its farthest from your body. Also, sometimes its NOT a technique problem or an issue where you need more practice but rather you have too much tension. Squeezing too hard, tension in shoulders, back, neck etc that manifest in the hand.

    • @thomasaitken7495
      @thomasaitken7495 12 дней назад

      @@guitargpsmethod I can do 3 finger chords fine, but 4 is going to be impeded. When bending, it turns 3 and 4 into a clamp if that makes sense. I can't seem to get them more than half a fret apart, and its like they want to spring together.

    • @thomasaitken7495
      @thomasaitken7495 12 дней назад

      My pinky basically tries to tuck "behind or over" and follow the ring finger constantly. I do exercises with placing fingers on frets 5 thru 8, and move each individual. When I move the ring finger, the pinky will not stay in a bent shape.

    Knowing music theory is Great, but some players that know alot of theory think to much when they play. Music to me should be more about sound and feeling. You need technical ability also to be able to play what you hear in your mind for example so that is also extremely important. I look at music theory as being book smart. While actual playing time and experience as being street smart in the world. So if you have both you are even more well versed, but I don't think understanding music theory completely is really needed for everyone. Look at George Lynch for example. He openly admits to not knowing alot of music theory, but when you listen to his playing he clearly knows EXACTLY what works and how to compose a song and his guitar works is as good as any guitarist from the 80's and 90's then comapre George to Randy Rhoads and Randy knew all kinds of music theory. Point being both guys are incredible players one knew theory inside and out and one didn't but both are incredible guitarist.

      The basics for speeding up is good technique, and playing with a metronome. A metronome trains your ability to HEAR and FEEL faster. So without more context one what you're working on. - Can you play with a metronome? if so, find your base speed and go up from there. There are more strategies but this is where it begins

    No offense but the pentatonic is the last thing that should be taught. Just because its become so generic and over used not ti mentjon, once people learn it, they never expand to natural minor, especially boomers. Theyre so musically ignorant and lazy and i beoiebe this scale inspires lazyness

    • @guitargpsmethod
      @guitargpsmethod 7 месяцев назад

      No offense taken - thanks for your input. While I don't disagree that it's common that players get stuck and never move past the pentatonic scales due to never learning how music works - I do however disagree that it's the last thing that should be taught. It's the easiest to play, easiest to learn to improvise in (and have it sound relatively decent) and a lot of famous solos use it.

    The timing in the pre chorus is so strange. Everything is 4/4, but the guitar riff starts on the 7th fret on 8/8, so the downbeat (1) is the open E before the 6th fret. This has thrown a wrench in my spoke. Thank you for tabbing out the sheet music to help illustrate it for me.

    When you can grip a guitar neck like a baseball bat with all fingers, and thumb wrapped around and the thumb can't even touch A it is because of hand size. When regular playing forget about the thumb muting even E. When your longest finger is not much longer than a standard AA battery it is safe to say it is hand size.

    • @guitargpsmethod
      @guitargpsmethod 2 года назад

      Im not sure what you mean by "joint-bar-G string..." If the issue is the G string isn't ringing out. 1. thumb needs to be in the middle of your hand 2. Index finger should press slightly on its SIDE so the BONE of your finger bars. Otherwise your 2nd joint in your finger will pop up and thus mute a string that should be ringing out. 3. for the C7 you could also use your middle finger to help press against your 1st finger .
