I'm using this tune to work out melodic ideas (not rely on licks), use slides to change position and streamline my picking technique. That's why it's called practice.

GIT 88-89. Joe was the nicest human! One little short episode of friendliness made a huge impact on me life. He Picked me up when i was in musical despair one day at MI. He also helped opening my eyes to spiritual matters - I know "understand" what he meant and did when closing his eyes: that someone/something was playing through him. Being an open intuitive channel for divine creative inspiration (see Martinus Cosmology) That´s what it takes to be a true genius. When you have tasted this there is not many incarnations left for universal/loving genius mastery. this is just my perspective on why he was so creative and kindhearted. Thanks for everything Joe. With Love

Thanks so much for your kindness, Jim. I feel tremendous love and respect for Jimmy, and that only grows deeper over time and with each note of his that play. He was such a gifted master musician, and extraordinary person of the highest order (as you certainly/personally knew him to be). I wish I had spent more time with him at the end of his life, and hadn't waited so long to begin (what originally seemed to be) the impossibly hard work of learning his etudes until 10 years after he passed. I'm ever-grateful that these last few pandemic years have afforded me the time and courage to slowly get to know the beauty and brilliance that comes from each etude. Thank you Jimmy...and thank you Jim.

Beth, Larry Koonse and I once, on the phone, lamented the fact that Jimmy wasn't routinely considered a member of the pantheon of geniuses: Django, Charlie and Wes. We both agreed that Jimmy should be the fourth member of that Mount Rushmore. As you know, there was no one like him. I treasure every recorded phone call and all my correspondence with Jimmy. Of course he sent me a lifetime's worth to study. Bless him. So appreciative of the work you're doing. You deserve special recognition...and our thanks. :-)
