Homeless in Rio: My Friendship with José
An encounter one night while walking in Lapa led to a friendship I would have never imagined. This is the story of José and my attempt to humanise an often marginalised group of people. A recent census shows that 15,000 people are living on the streets in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, more than triple the number in 2014.

My Yellow Scooter
Просмотров 38 тыс.2 года назад
On August 10th 2021 I left Montreal with my beloved yellow Honda Helix scooter. I felt I was getting too comfortable back home. I had been to 30 countries, but never solo travelled. All out of this irrational fear of being alone. My heart was telling me to go figure myself out, see my brother and begin creating videos for myself again. Thanks to Mate Libre for supporting the journey and the abs...

In December 2018, I bought my first car in Amsterdam. A little Opel Combo which would be our home for the next 4 months as we embarked on a ambitious roadtrip towards West Africa. The journey totalled over 16000 km and 27 flat tires, but more importantly it lead us through beautiful countries and communities. This is part 3 of 3:) Music credits at the end of the video. → instagram: instagram.co...

The Roadtrip to Africa. Part 2 of 3: Mauritania In December 2018, I bought my first car in Amsterdam. A little Opel Combo which would be our home for the next 4 months as we descended towards West Africa. Crossing through the Sahara you pass through a relatively unknown country called Mauritania. A country with the most welcoming people I have ever met home to the worlds longest train. The Maur...

I'm 22, still chasing the same dream since I was 10. Looking through my footage and experiences these past few weeks has left me with a feeling of gratitude. I'm thankful to those who have believed in me and given me opportunities to grow as a filmmaker. Thank you to the people in this video and to the others that have had an impact, big or small. This is only just the beginning

Down in Mexico

A few months ago we got invited by our newly met neighbors to Mexico. We drove over 4000km within 2 weeks in our little Chevrolet Spark. Best memories include: sleeping on roofs, getting matching tattoos, hiking up to 5000 meters, watching an unimaginable amount of fireworks light up on New Years, crashing my drone on a village prison and begging the chief Chaman to give it back, running out of...

Cycling Around Iceland in 40 days

On May 12th 2017 we left Montreal with the plan to cycle around Iceland. The entire adventure would last 40 days and 2000 km later. The trip was one I'll never forget where I lived some of the best and worst moments of my life. Never have I been so outside of my comfort zone. On some days we cycled over 160 km while on others we were stuck in the same town for 4 days straight waiting for the we...

This is what motorcycle travel is all about- un vrai bijou, Julian!
Super cool Helix praise movie.
I have been riding for 40 years and always found a way to listen to music either fitting a tape deck and speakers right up to modern day a iPhone and buds. It’s always been possible.
Wonderful Julian. I wish you could see me smiling. Hear me applauding. The adventure continues. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, but today is the time we have been given to explore earth life. Travel slowly, choose wisely.
Thank you Julian! I own a Helix. I know the thrill. You given us a truly lovely film. I will watch it again. And again. I pray as you continue your adventure safety and joy will be your constant companions.

Great Video!!
Hello! Great video! Beautiful journey!! Beautiful Honda Helix! I had a 92 Honda Helix and sold it in 2000, I miss my Honda Helix!
Hello from New Zealand Julian, I also own a Honda Fusion and would not part with it, mine is the white Japanese domestic market model with only 67,000 kms on the odometer, I am 71 years old and still riding, cheers.
This is truly amazing ! 🫶🏼
Mon coeur s’est brisé quand il entend la musique de la mélodie du bonheur 💔 quelle vidéo touchante, j’espère que la vie est douce pour lui !

Best video and storyline ever 😮

You missed the best one of all of them LIBERIA
I know! the visa was too complicated to get back then
super.
I spent some 20+ years of my life writing and producing both public and commercial television here in the States, and this, sir, is as fine a piece of filmmaking as I have seen in quite some time. I, too, am a scooter rider -- a pair of Vespas -- and like one fellow who commented below, I'm now 70, and I ride solo (my partner doesn't ride). There may will be a Helix in my future. (Why else would I have fallen down the RUclips Helix rabbit hole?!). You take care of that beautiful, faithful yellow scooter, Julian, 'cause she sure took care of you. Thanks for a most enjoyable video.
Wow, great storytelling. Thanks from Seattle.
Why'd you have to make me cry so much? What a beautifully filmed journey of love and self discovery. Wish I had something like this to show our three kids when I met my wife in 1991 when she was in the States only for a year as an Au Pair from Germany. Thank you for sharing!
I’ve Been so stagnant in my film making recently and this is what has truly reignited the spark. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your inspirations. Chapeau 🎩. Stay healthy and thanks to Honda 😅. Greetings from germany ... Christoph 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋
This is easily in my top 5 list of best RUclips videos ever... Thank you for sharing it with us. If you see a beat up red Helix on the road someday, maybe it's me!
I'm in the states down in Ohio, a few years back I picked up a white 1987 Helix. The Honda dealer here says mine was actually made for the Canadian market, the dash panel is labeled "Fatten" instead of Helix and the odometer reads in kilometers. They claim they are rare and they hadn't seen one in person. That said, it's a Helix and they can get around! I'm not sure how many "Fattens" were made or much of anything else.
The dash panel reading "Fatten" means it was replaced at some point with a Chinese knockoff panel. This is a common part to replace as the speedo plastic gets foggy and unreadable from sunlight over the years. I have an '87 Helix and I had to replace mine as well. Mine reads "Gongbei" but I have seen the "Fatten" ones before. ruclips.net/video/6eHH5jANmPo/видео.html
Dope video
Seen this series twice and maaannn, the potential here is humangas!
Just happened to stumble across your video. Wow what a trip that must have been. I've always wanted to do something similar. One of these days I'll make it happen. Just wanted to thank you for sharing your story. It was very inspiring.
absolute masterpiece! just checkin in today ... cancelled my Netflix sub ;-) looking forward to many more of your videos
You don't need a motorcycle's license to drive that just a regular driver's license
It pains me to know I did not discover this channel years ago. Quite literally one of the best videos I have ever watched on this platform.
wow..!! This video was wonderful in a way i cannot really describe. Your way to set the story, the production which was amazing and proper fit to the storyline, everything felt right. As for José... ah.. 💔❤️ I cried with him when he heard the sound of music after all these years. Thank you for this Julian, really ❤️ And thanks to Nathaniel Drew, i found you through him. I will watch your content from now on Julian. Within 9 minutes i feel a different person ❤
