I am a music and dance enthusiast, art lover, nature lover and record keeper. I am decidedly not a professional videographer, just very amateur videos, but I started shooting short videos for my own enjoyment and memories and to share with a few friends, but it's grown into more of a mission of documenting and supporting the incredible talent and diversity of musicians and dancers found in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have a history of being in charge of the music for dance parties, and compile playlists for my own pleasure across many genres, annually and with various themes, so be sure to check out my Playlists as well as my uploads. And I am an avid explorer and walker, inspired by natural beauty and wildlife, so in addition to amateur videos of live music, I also upload videos of urban wildlife sightings.

Good performance!
I can appreciate the Filipino ‘influence’ as it were but why is ‘Afro’ co-opted to other ethnicities/traditions/cultures? When we say AfroCuban we’re basically speaking of African music/instruments being expressed through Spanish language. Period. These were transplanted and enslaved Black Africans. Cuba itself has nothing to do with it. Similarly Africans migrated to the Philippines the same way they migrated to the americas before enslavement. Tbh there’s probably more Asiatic/Filipino culture present here than say what’s considered ‘Afro Cuban’. Just some thoughts
At least 2 of these Filipino Americans typically play in AfroCuban bands (Bo Razon played guitar in Conjunto Cespedes, and Dr John Calloway plays piano and flute with John Santos) and at least one, Dr John Calloway, teaches AfroCuban music to college students. They decided to form this ensemble blending Kulingtan music from their cultural heritage with some influences from AfroCuban music that they usually play, as an interesting fusion for a Filipino-American event.
I also wanted to add that my son's father is a Nigerian musician, and he often included non-African and non-black musicians in his bands, and he said the ethnicity of the musicians doesn't matter, it's about keeping the culture alive and spreading it.
@@MsConstantComment a Nigerian said that? Good for him. It’ll always live because it’s the God given power of music which crosses any and all barriers through pure sound. HOWEVER what does matter is proper nomenclature and credit given where it’s due. For the most part it’s all just African music. Just cause you like it, adopted it and love to perform it doesn’t mean you created it.
❤❤❤ I LOVE THIS 😍😍😍

Sí, lovely song. The title is "Mi historia entre tus dedos" ("My story between your fingers"), written and performed by Gianluca Grignani (1995 - original version in Italian). There's an excellent salsa version (en español) by Mickey Taveras, from his album "Más Romántico" (1999). ¡Disfrútalo! Salsaludos desde Virginia, USA.
Thank you for identifying the song for me. Adding the original to a playlist.
Possibly the best version of one of my favorite songs. Even better in person!

I was there too! They really rocked it..Thanks for the upload
En dónde será eso? Ah
This was in Point Richmond, California, at a street fair. The band is local to San Francisco Bay Area. The leader/percussionist Lali Mejia and drummer Omar Ledesma Jr are both originally from Venezuela, and the lead singer Sofia Magdelena is originally from Dominican Republic.
I seen them at them there too
Loved this song. Became a fan after hearing this!
I've been a fan since I heard his 2018 Tiny Desk Concert, I Ain't Gonna Let You Ruin My Day. So glad to catch him in person finally, he and the band were great.
They were awesome! I run the lights for the concert. Im under the tents with all the consoles. @MsConstantComment
@ 1:20 Jennifer kicks in and I perked up ! She was a great addition to the overall house mix. The band ain't bad either. Glad I watched the vid. THX !
