The more I see who you are, the more I understand what sets you apart. “Hard work, God first!”
Hey guys. Think I can offer some help here. I first got the yips in 7th grade after airballing a free throw in a middle school basketball game when a bunch of people were there watching. I had this horrible feeling of dread and disappointment. Became so afraid of this feeling that I ended up with a “fear of fear” response to every high pressure situation during high school golf, basketball, and baseball. This lasted even through college baseball, and I ended up quitting because the fear was overpowering my love for the game. I ended up learning that my gaba to glutamate balance was WAY OFF. Glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter that can make me energized but jittery and nervous if too high. GABA is a calming neurotransmitter that helps me stay relaxed in high pressure situations. Things that help stimulate gaba production(from my experience) are a ketogenic diet, vitamin b1, b6, theanine, inositol and taurine. Also, cinnamon has helped tremendously because it keeps your blood sugar extremely stable even in the presence of caffeine. I can honestly say that a ketogenic diet with cinnamon in my coffee has helped me get over the yips at about 90%.
sick video man, I just have a quick question, I have owned a 33.5 all star pro elite for about a year now and im just finding that the pocket isnt deep enough where my glove cant actually close all the way and its led to a few balls poping out even though the glove is fully broken in. I wear 2 in the pinky to try and give myself the deepest possible pocket but its still not quite there. Do you have any advise ? and I was wondering if a rawlings pro preffered had a deep pocket?
Glove collection? 🤗
as a current juco guy. i’ve had my 33” Russell Martin Pro Preferred since Freshman year of HS. I’ve had 2 33.5” all stars. And both were starting to feel like my index were getting stiff after a game or day of bullpens. currently breaking in a pro preferred gameday 57 JT realmuto which is 34”, aside from the break in time, Id say rawlings catchers mitts might be the way to go.
🔥🔥
This video is exactly what I’ve experienced in my sons’ outcome with different training. Unfortunately, I’ve witnessed many trainers blaming/becoming frustrated with young athletes because these just “keep making the same mistakes “…. Thank you for clarifying this!
I also see trainers rush to the next “level” during every lesson. For hitting, trainers go from a small window of tee, to a small time at front toss, right into a pitching machine to finish up. I believe this progression should be slower and “earned”.
If you're Columbian, it might kill you...well in soccer. But that was the most awesome explanation I've ever heard, thanks! I had it ONLY throwing from 2nd, never mind the pin point accuracy on the mound or the lasers from 3rd. 2nd base was 10 feet over the pitchers head. I've had it in ping pong, tennis. I'm going to give this a shot.
Could you please upload the whole process of non cut exercise video?🥺
Nobody ever mentions Macky Sasser. Worst ever.
For a little while, and I know this might sound crazy, I had the yips when I threw back to certain pitchers. Much of the problem started when as I was about to throw it back to the pitcher they happened to quickly turn away from the plate after throwing a pitch, so I double and sometimes triple clutched. This threw off my basic rhythm. With those pitchers I waited an extra beat or two, once they turned back, before I threw. That seemed to help a lot. Looking back, it might have helped if I would have told those certain pitchers to wait for the ball before they started prepping for the next pitch.
Bet than
Cool drills
You couldn’t get Mackey Sasser to do this video?
I am a Freshman in highschool and am struggling to catch for the harder throwing pitchers. I have a gut that throws 80+ and i become very stressed and start to freak out and endup playing horrible. I was wondering if you could make a viedo of how to catch faster pitchers? thanks
Glove collection pretty please!!
My son, 10 years old, was recently cut from a travel team. I asked him how he felt the next day. He tells me that he was upset that he was not given the opportunity to make the adjustment. I told him that now he is with his old team...he has the opportunity to use what happened to him as a motivation to improve and not complain about working hard in practice. He is doing better but I always tell him to remember what happened and what could happen again if he doesn't put in the work. Not just with baseball, but anything in life. I think, even if others don't agree, was a moment of learning that can help him mature in this aspect of baseball and it helped me as a father to learn how to interact with him and encourage him in his journey.
Catching has come a long way since the 90’s! I’m coaching a 10 year old first time catcher, this video is full of great information as is your channel! 👊🏻
I would rather see him flat footed and his feet further apart, rather than on his toes when in his campfire stance. He is burning a lot of energy while keeping his balance on his toes. Once he comes out of that stance, he looks great. Great videos ... keep em coming
I've never had adversity.
I love that you added that drill at the end keep posting.
Hey coach! Can you please make a video on how exactly you break in your gloves?
Jammed my thumb using a catchers mitt when I was 11, never used a catchers mitt again, when I was messing around catching bull pens I’d use a first base mitt after that good thing I’m a lefty 🤣
or a tennis player getting ready to return a serve. or a boxer getting ready to dodge a punch.
100% my favorite mitt I have ever used. Large glove, but is tight enough to still have that smaller feel.
best catching youtuber out there!!!

"It's not gay till the balls touch." So move quick, and dont be gay.
My knees and hips are aching just watching you do it 😅
I’m hundred percent signing up!!!!
The link to "View Camps" just goes to the blocking program. Do you have any camps in California scheduled?
I have the same question. We attended camp in the SF area last time you were out. Would definitely sign up again if you come back!
Great advice Ty
Yeah, I like that second option better
I mean, just drop into a butterfly, and you can keep both feet spread to the side
I would like to hear if you have any advice on dealing with coaches and teammates about it I’ve known how to throw a baseball my whole life and just had my best season ever my sophomore year but this summer I’ve played travel ball and it’s like I’ve forgotten how to throw the ball I play first base and primarily it’s just throwing it back to the pitcher after a pick off But what my fear is rooted in primarily is I know my teammates make fun of me for it maybe not to my face but I see their expressions I’ve overheard their conversations about me not knowing how to Throw a ball I know my fear is all rooted in not wanting to be embarrassed in front of my friends and not wanting to let down my coaches I’m struggling a lot right now
Hey Rand, I had the same issues in high school as a 16 year old freshman and still have the same problem 30 years later throwing pitches to my 6 year old son. You're not alone man. One video I just watched said something that might help you out. You have to be ok with failure. Visualize it and understand that failure doesn't define you. You need to not care. He said "baseball isn't who you are, it's just something you do." I hope this helps for you. Good luck and I hope you're back to throwing effortless and accurate lazers soon.
@@fwagner9 you don’t understand how nervous I am going into this season I did really well my sophomore year and it’s got college coaches looking at me I had a couple ask me if to come to their camps and other coaches have offered me small scholarships but none of them know my new found throwing issue if I don’t fix it soon all interest will be gone and when I throw long toss right now it’s easy but I know that as soon as I start playing with Teamates again it could easily come back because that’s what started it to begin with
By the way I have liked all of your videos and shorts
I love your videos so much I have watched all of your shorts and videos, I am 11 years old and the starting catcher for my travel team I watch and study your videos every night, again I love watching your shorts and videos. Keep posting. Brady
Great video! As a mental health therapist and gymnastics coach I can say I believe this can help a lot of people.
Very helpful thank you keep it up with these types of videos
Great video absolutely right
OKD isn't lazy it causes laziness. OKD is used to make up for the lack of talent catching/framing the low ball. Same as the ridiculous exaggeration of "framing" ( which has never been bringing the ball back to the center of the zone). BTW...you did not explain any benefits to the OKD technique at all
I’m glad I’m not the only one this happened to lol
this video was reading my mind. especially the part where just before i threw the ball, my arm turned into spaghetti and i would either spike it or throw a lollipop. awesome video and well put together. it helped me a lot.
Great video man! Totally agree!
missed out on the unc catcher luke stevenson
