가구소득이라하면 W2상의 Wages인가요 많이 사용되는 세금보고 1040상의 AGI (adjusted gross income)을 말하는 건가요? 감사합니다.
네 맞습니다. FAFSA를 작성할 때, 기본적으로 가구 소득으로 보고되는 금액은 부모님(또는 학생 본인)의 AGI(Adjusted Gross Income) 를 말하는 것입니다. 다만, FAFSA는 AGI 외에도 특정한 무과세 소득(untaxed income)이나, 다른 재정 정보를 추가로 묻는 항목이 있습니다. 즉, 기본 틀은 AGI를 활용하지만, FAFSA 상에서 요구하는 정보를 모두 입력하기 위해서는 AGI 이외에도 필요한 소득 항목들이 있을 수 있으므로, FAFSA 지침서(Instructions)를 면밀히 검토한 후 해당 연도의 1040 양식에서 적절한 줄(Line)을 참고하고, 요구되는 추가 무과세 소득이나 기타 재정 정보를 모두 정확히 기입하셔야 합니다.
보통은, 재학생도 FAFSA와 CSS Profile 을 매년 제출해야합니다. 그러나, 사립대학의 경우, 학교자체적으로 다른 policy 가 있을수있으므로, Financial Aid Office 에 직접 확인해 보는 절차가 필요하겠습니다

Ap 있으면 좋겠지만 Ap가 없어도 큰 문제는 없는것 같아요... Gpa와 Sat 그리고 토플만 있고 활동사항만 있어도 미국 명문대및 홍콩 싱가폴 전세계 어디든 큰문제없이 입학 가능합니다... 유학원에서 꼭 Ap 해야 한다고 수업 들어야 한다고 모집요강에 있다라는 등등 별별 얘기들을 해서 수업하라고 하였지만 정작 대학교에 직접 문의해본결과 Ap 없는학교 졸업자는 굳이 필요하지 않다고 하였고 실제로 입학하는데 아무런 지장이 없었음... Ap가 있으면 좋겠지만 없다면 gpa와 sat에 중점하시길....
우선 댓글 주셔서 감사 드립니다. 네, 맞는 말씀이십니다. 그래서, 미국 대학에 지원할때, 학생이 속해있는 고등학교안에서의 Rank 가 중요한것입니다. 학생이 속해있는 고등학교에 AP 가 없으면 없는대로 GPA 와 SAT 에 집중하면, 학생이 원하는 대학에 합격하는 경우도 당연히 있습니다. 그러나, 한가지만 첨언하지면, 미국의 20위 이상, 즉, Top Tier 대학을 목표로 한다면, AP 레벨의 과목이 어느 정도는 필요한것은 사실입니다. 왜냐하면, 상위 대학에 합격한 학생들의 Profile 을 보면, 적어도 10개 이상의 AP 를 들었고, 또 미국 전국 고등학생을 대상으로 하는, AP Test score 를 확인하면 , 이 학생이 상대적으로 어느 정도의 실력을 갖고 있는 학생인지를 쉽게 파악할 수 있어, 대학에서 학생의 합격 / 불합격 결정을 하기가 수월하기때문에 AP class 는 물론 AP Test score 를 갖고 있는 학생을 선호할 수 밖에 없다는 말씀을 감히 드리고자 합니다.

네. 알겠습니다. 많은 칼리지 컨설팅 유튜버 들께서 . Letter of recommendation 에 말씀을 들어갈 실력이 안되는 border line 학생들에게 ucb 에서 보낸다고 하시고 또 그런 letter 를 받아고 안될수도 있다해서 우린 버쿨리 withdrawal 안하고 기다려 봤어요. 정말 그 말이 맞는가 해서요. 그리고 추천서 리턴도 안했는데 SEED Honors 에 $ 10000 renewable scholarship 주더라구요.헛소문이 아주 많아서요. 원장님 좋은 말씀 과 유익한 유튜브 고맙습니다.

문의 감사드립니다. 맞습니다. 미국에서도 똑같이 적용하고 있어, 학교에서 AP 수업을 듣지 않는다면, AP 시험을 보기가 힘듭니다. 그렇지만, 아래와 같이 2가지 방법중 한가지로 AP 수업을 안듣고도 AP 시험을 가능성은 적지만 가끔 AP 시험을 볼수가 있겠습니다. 1. college board 의 Customer service 에 연락을 해서 자기가 위치하는곳에서 AP 시험볼수있는 가장 가까운곳을 물어보면 college board 에서 알려줍니다. 2. 만약 첫번째 방법이 여의치 않다면, 근처의 사립고등학교에 연락해서 pay 를 조금 더 하면 시험을 볼수있는 사립 고등학교가 분명히 있을것입니다. 공립 고등학교에서는 마감이 끝나면 시험을 볼수 없지만, 사립 고등학교에서는 시험을 볼수있도록 편의를 봐줍니다. 부디 잘 되시길 빕니다. 감사합니다.

우선 문의 감사 드립니다. 8학년때 꼭 pre algebra 를 들어야 한다고 학교에서 요청하면 들으셔도 됩니다. 다만 고등학교에 올라갈때, 보통 Jr. High School에서 수학 Level test 를 볼것이며, 만약 시험을 봐서 들어가는 고등학교라면, 그 고등학교에서도 영어, 수학 level test 를 보게 될것입니다. 그 Level test 를 잘 보면 됩니다. 9학년부터 Geometry 혹은 Alg II 를 들을수있을것입니다. 그렇다면, AP Calc BC 까지 고등학교 졸업전에 들을수있습니다.
