Surfing Sketchy Shallow Waves | Ripped Off Fin on the Reef | RAW POV
We spent a while searching for a good wave to surf on this day, swell and winds were weird. Ended up going to this sketchy wave and I ripped off the fin on one of my friend's boards, luckily we had another board so we found another less shallow spot.

An absolutely magic blue day in Waikiki. The swell was a little weaker than we had hoped for but still some amazing longboarding waves perfect for noseriding. I really don’t know, I think it was holding on by a thread of fiberglass and I just felt something weird on the bottom of the board and it ended up being the fin haha

I remember Waikīkī in the 90s had a big swell come thru just like that. Some of the best times of my life.

This was the peak of hurricane hone on Sunday
I used to surf courts n Ala Moana park but got tired of scraping my fins on the reef.
It’s worth the fun scrapes haha
FYI, The two spots between Big Rights and tennis courts are called concessions and second hole then the spot between tennis courts at Magic Island. It’s called baby Haleiwa and big lefts. Cool video

I think not, swell was sorta low period and kinda too east. I don’t surf courts too much but I heard on those really big swells earlier in the summer it was epic 🤙
@@_aidan_b When Bowls was overhead a few times, never saw vids of big Threes, Courts, that area….paddle to outside peak had to be long
@@bwhit716 Yeah I surfed threes the day after that video I made at Pops when it was super big, it was absolutely epic. Biggest I have ever seen it a few waves closed out the channel. Should have filmed it but I don't like to when it's that big and crowded

a question.. do these types of waves form very far from the coast? do they have a reef underneath or is it sand? the color is reminiscent of sand, certainly to be able to break and remain with the wall like this you need a wave pace long enough like 15 or 16 seconds... think that in the Mediterranean already 11/12 is epic 😂
Yeah it’s like 100 meters from shore. It’s reef but there is some sand and it gets kicked up when the swell is bigger 🤙🤙
