Surf's Up (Brian Wilson solo, unreleased version)
Просмотров 73 тыс.12 лет назад
Screw Mike Love Update: This appears to be a variation on the track Surf's Up: Piano Demo (Master Take), can be found on the Smile Sessions box. Couldn't find this version anywhere. Definitely recorded during the initial sessions (67ish), but the production is much better than recordings from that time frame (also no frills, just Brian solo with piano and background vocals, no filler). Nice voc...

Holsinger, this version was released on the CD Fireworks To Tame the Perilous Skies was commissioned by the 564th Tactical Air Command Band, United States Air Force, located in Virginia, and received its premiere performance in the fall of 1990. Although it leaves the storyline completely to the listener's imagination, "P...
Beautiful vocals harmonies......
Of all the different versions of this song I’ve heard, I must say this is the one where his voice sounds best. I’m not saying I think this is the best version (that one’s always in flux for me, though lately it’s the 2004 BWPS version), but undoubtedly the vocals here are just incredible. Goosebumps, every damn time.
Wonderful Harmonys
My favorite version of this lovely song- Brian’s pure, tender vocals and understated, yet perfect piano accompaniment. Sublime!

Brian,.. 🕯️
My absolute favorite piece to play I'm high school! ❤
This makes me feel like I just stole a jet and took off at Mac 20
as complex a melody as it gets
Always made me cry. Was lucky enough to see him play it live at Bristol Colston Hall. And since my adored wife Moby passed away in 2021 the line “a broken man too tough to cry” means much…
💯🎶🎵♥️
Absolutley underrated... depression shows who we really are... fantastic Song... beach boy Wilson.
Absolutely beautiful. ❤😊
Absolutely beautiful. ❤😊
That is the night to die. The funniest thing to do.
Gracias, Brian, por esta obra maestra
Sublime…
Love it..there's always someone younger..
Für immer mein liebster Yo La TENGO Song . ..
Van Dyke Parks wrote the lyrics during an amphetimine-fueled weekend...amazing song.
Brilliant life changing : saving lyrics💖❤️🙏🙏❤️💖
If I did pinpoint one song as the greatest song ever written, this would be it. For surer... to me, Brian had the best male voice I ever heard. His brother, Carl, the second best.
VAN DYKE PARKS!
What an incredible voice Brian has. It spans a wide range. Such a deep thinker too.
This song has always been on the shortlist for my funeral.
He didnt write the lyrics. Van Dyke did. Brians genius was his ability to project the fragile within tenderness. The innocence with the crush of youths pain and oceans insanity. How cars and girls give way to loss and hopelessness. And love. Alot of love.
This is NOT unreleased, it appears on the 1993 Good Vibrations box set and also the 2011 Smile Sessions box set.
My favorite version of my favorite song.
I played this in the mid-90’s in college. This song makes me crave the feeling of being immersed in a band or orchestra. That energy.
A children's song Have you listened as they played Their song is love And the children know the way
it sounds like the same demo only he doubled his voice and mixed and mastered Iit properly. I prefer this version to the drums and strings version --- but that's just me I think that one is the same original demo too -- but I just listened to it --- and frankly, it's just a big mess. the 2000 remaster edition -- not good.
Credit must be given to VanDyke Parks for absolutely amazing lyrics.
nonsense lyrics are always the best ones open to interpretation
These aren’t nonsense lyrics! This is the end of an era and Van Dyke parks is going to tell you about it!
Yes! Those two together, man...
It's poetry for your own interpretation. This is one of the most beautiful songs
Yup, some of the best song lyrics
The only realized example of a whole genre of music that Brian had in him at that point. Due to all to human failings he threw it away, never to be heard.
Never forget CBC 1992
Gorgoeous piece and powerful emotional impact!
It hurts me that some people don’t get this
Brian had such a great voice Come about hard and join, The young and often spring you gave...
Falsetto from God!
@11:03 to @11:30 amazing musical feel
Shivers
As much as i am greatful that brian wilson is with us today its a god damn shame he lost his voice. At his peak not only was he the creative genius of the band he was the best singer in the beach boys. Like i get that age would naturally play a part in losing your voice but paul mccartney and mick jagger can still sing all the songs that they sang for the beatles and stones respectively and while i still think Brian wilson is in the same league as them its sad that Brian cant sing surfs up or wouldnt it be nice or you still belive in me or dont worry baby anymore.
It’s so sad how much years of cocaine use messed him up physically and mentally.
We won the New York State Band Field Competition in 2010 with this music. The nostalgia is real.
Which school did you March with? I go to the "Dome" every year!
@@christopherauert6634 I marched tenor drums in the Brentwood Green Machine marching band from 2009 - 2011
Ah yes!! Good band.
LOVE this tune!! It's an anthem for persevering in this ol' world. ♥️
Had the unbelievable opportunity to perform this as a member of The Cadets (Drum Corps International) in 1992 (as a kid)...not realizing that I would one day end up a member of USAF Band of Liberty. A very cool connection...and tremendous honors...both.
Such an iconic performance. I'm a huge fan. Always will love the Cadets!
Hopefully you’ve seen that the ‘92 video from the cadets is on RUclips! Beautiful piece and performance!
It really makes me ache at my throat how altogether beautiful is Brian Wilson. big beautiful loving achy heart out in the open tender vulnerable honest. I just love this guy's heart Voice so tender and spiritual piano keys heart beating lyrics breathing.
*generic mike love insult* fuck off
idk about yall but this song goes hard on so many levels.
Our modern day Mozart, Brian will live on forever and ever. Beyond this rock floating through space, his music should be shot into space so extraterrestrials can hear such beauty
Brian is so talented love his songs..
