I used BioChef brand, but please do your own research to see what you can source in your country. I personally prefer to the shelf tray for even drying and better temp control. It's also more ideal for drying dog food/treats. Consider stainless steel tray, energy efficient, low noise level (if that's a concern), removable trays for easy cleaning, and other features like timer, brand reputation etc. Good luck! Dehydrator, together with food processor are good investments esp if your doing DIY dog food/treats.

Not sure where you are located, but I source them from our raw pet food store where I also source Bowie's meat and organ. You can use dehydrated one if finding fresh is tricky.

Hello, as a general guideline, soft-boned animals will take about 2 hours in the pressure cooker and 24 hours cooked low in the slow cooker. Dense bones (for example from ruminants) will take about 4 hours in the pressure cooker and up to 36 hours in the slow cooker. Experiment with different amount of bones to water ratio, animal sources and parts of bones and have fun! All the best!

@@masterbowie2016 I made mine, but I don’t think I put enough bones to water because it did not turn out turn gelatinous after being put in the refrigerator. There was a thick layer of the fat on top, but the liquid was still very soupy. I just put too much water in it. I still pouring over the dogs kibble and they love it.

I'm sorry to hear that 😢 as with any new ingredients, always starts slowly and monitor. Each dog is different and some may be more sensitive to new ingredients than others. You can always dilute it with more filtered/drinking water. Hope this helps 🩷

Thank you for subscribing! 🥰 Yes, I've had a fair share of fussy dogs clients and fortunately mine is not (thank gawd!) but I completely understand the frustration and worry. Sometimes it could also be behaviour, provided that the dog is otherwise healthy and has no health issues. Trying to find what they like can be quite challenging esp. when they're not that food motivated. Some dogs like drier and firmer texture, rather than wet/sloppy, which means baking it gently in the oven will be better rather slow cooking it in a slow cooker/crock pot. Some dogs like games or mental enrichment to make meal time interesting or have physical activities/exercises before meal time. Adding bone broth can also entice appetite as well as a nutritious hydration (most dogs don't drink much and are in constant state of dehydration). All the best with Alfie! And please don't stress ♥

Hello, yes dogs can eat raw chicken bones if they can tolerate raw meaty bones eg. chicken necks, feet, frames. I'm sorry to hear about your pup's diagnosis. Feeding your pup nutritious whole foods diet is definitely way to go, either homemade or commercially pre-made. We have complete and balanced recipes on our website that you can try. They will work for both gently cooked and raw. Alternatively you can get a meal balancer where you just add meat and the balancer mixture to make a complete and balanced meal. @@masterbowie2016 Thank you so much for the reply. I am in so cal. I had looked at the animal diet formulator, but it is expensive. I would just use it to formulate 2 or 3 recipes and keep them at that. So basically a one time use. I would appreciate your recommendations for the meal balancer. I just ordered our first farmers dog food to start with until I can make the homemade food. But I seen a video that they use a meal balancer packet and read that is is made up of synthetic blends of vitamins and minerals. From my understanding, humans do not absorb synthetic nutrients well, so I would assume animals wouldn't either. I'd like to use the highest quality blends if possible.

@@cwkhonda Hello, I'm based in Australia so I can recommend whole foods Australian meal balancer brands which I'm pretty sure they deliver internationally as well. Check out Hunde essential blend and Bestie Health. US brands, have you tried Dr Harvey's - it has added vitamins and minerals, but generally the ingredients are pretty good. I do prefer whole foods supplements to isolated vitamins/minerals, however I'm not completely against them either esp. when they're used to complement whole foods ingredients and fill in the gaps. Hope this helps.

You can certainly sprinkle the ground herbs directly onto the food and mix them thoroughly. I mixed them in hot water and steep them first because I didn't grind them finely - hence applying the decoction/steeping technique, plus it's making a nice hydration as well!

Low sodium, low fat foods, cook meals from scratch with dog-approved veggies, sweet potatoes, pumpkin puree and extremely lean meats. Don't stress out the already asked kidneys by making his/her meals complicated. And ensure to keep the dog hydrated (a bowl of clean, fresh and cool water should always be made available). Most of all, spend quality time enjoying eachothers company and making beautiful memories. God bless you and your pup.

In this instance the apple cider vinegar is to help extract more nutrients from the bones. The rendered fat is not healthy for dogs. If you like to reuse it to cook for yourself, feel free to do that 😊🩷

The recipe makes about 1 kg of food so mix everything well and portion according to your dog's daily food requirement. Freeze food that you're not going to feed within 2-3 days. A general fresh food feeding guideline for adult dogs is to feed 2-3% of your dog's weight. So for a 10 pound (4.5kg), it's about 112g daily. Monitor and adjust portion (feed more or less) as needed. Alternatively you can just halve each ingredients if you don't want to make a lot of food. Hope that helps 😊💜
