This is the worst video on the planet. They don't even talk about Intervention until 14 minutes in. Why call it rethinking intervention? Specifically, how do you use this program to intervene? This guy has no idea how to help students except to say what doesn't work: Unthoughtful acceleration, removing students from the classroom and giving them something unrelated to the curriculum, and teaching procedural math to remediate a student. Thanks for wasting my time when I could have been figuring out how to help students.
Acceleration in math is why my child now works at a big tech company. We need to be very careful telling educators not to accelerate learning. FYI: It placed a heavy emotional burden on me to have to fight for what he needed.
I miss him❤
Those Mhmms with how frequent they are really make it sound like you want her to stop talking rather than acknowledging what she is saying 🤪
Good questions and discussion! One piece of feedback I have is to maybe mute your mic while someone else is speaking. I found the frequent "mhms" really distracting! Thank you!
Love this!!!!
Hello fellow tutors out there!
Hi remember me
Hmm I tried following but the take away was to focus on teaching facts so that the kids understand language? Perhaps you can summarize this better? This is my first time hearing Ed Hirsch since im shopping for curriculum.
The parents never agreed to these teachings. How do we get around them when they speak out?
The man is 93 years old. Amazing!
Education has become so political
Education should not be political, ever. This is why parents are pulling kids away from these teachers and putting them in Charter schools.
So many Ahas !! Amen!!
Most impressive, however reading ability can be measurably improved by playing games with individual letters (via the sense of phonic sound, sight and touch - using the writing finger) on a regular basis. After 12 months, 83% of parents report that their children voluntarily read books. 91% of parents report an average 3-grade improvement in dictation, here in Germany Grade scale 1 to 6.
Completely agree, there is a real lack of research not being implemented because the systems of schools are not being taken into account. This is where the discipline of Anthropology and the methodologies that Anthropologists use are so important when approaching implementation in education reform.
She just keep bobbing her head like the little toys
Dr Gholdy rocks. Amen!!!! Dr. Cardona is definitely a step in the right direction. He will mandate justice!!!!
I LOVED looping... it is highly overlooked as a significant support for students. There is nothing better than hitting the ground running on day 1... yes, a kinship... and also a deep understanding of the student as a learner. I found that I could discuss metacognitive processes with students and help them to understand themselves, how they learn, what they need... and how to teach them to communicate about what they need.
Good job! You got my subscription. Welcome to my channel as well. Keep up the good work.💞
