Machines do help to make light work of some jobs. Here we have my friends 1950 vintage dumper truck and still going strong. An old tractor still working its PTO to split logs and finally my JCB which I think is around 30 years old and still going strong. My JCB is a 3CX SiteMaster 4x4 turbo charged digger.

Removing My Old Tomette Tiles and Replacing Them With A New Douglas Fir Timber Floor
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
Renovating old houses is always hard work and here I removed 25 square meters of old Tomette tile’s recycling as many as possible for reuse in my farmhouse. Truly Amazing Old Oak Timber Recycled For A Window Cill Window Seat
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.7 месяцев назад
Here I have taken an old live edge chunk of timber I bought from a French friend and gave it a new lease of life as my downstairs bedroom / office window cill or even seat. Definitely a seat for my two cats in the French sunshine. The front boxing in timber I found at my property when I bought the farmhouse and again found a good use for it rather than firewood. The window cill can now be varni...
Totally Magnificent Traditional Stone Room Restoration and Using Reclaimed Tomette Tiles
Просмотров 531 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Here I am renovating my rear bedroom / downstairs office and soon to be incorporated shower room. The tomette tiles are reclaimed from the upstairs section of the 300 year old French farmhouse. Some of the tomette tiles need a clean using a wire brush as I decided part way through the tiling process to clean each tile by hand. Once I have cleaned the remaining few tomette tiles so they kind of ...

    Thank you, it was useful to hear from someone with professional experience! Inexpert onlooker question - is it possible the additional nut on the tap is to allow tightening at the correct orientation, rather than just spinning up to the natural end of the thread or using plumbers tape?

      @frenchpropertyrenovations7788 4 месяца назад

      Hello, having been in plumbing and also having worked in the USA, The Bahamas and lots of UK plumbing there is definitely no need for the additional nut as it really serves no purpose

    As the vertical elbow only serves as an overflow, you would have made it easier for yourself if you left the joint dry. I would have used a flexible pipe connector instead of the slip joint but appreciate they are a lot more expensive in France than the UK and not always available in local DIY stores.
