"The Real Bob James" "From 52 acre Broadcast Park, Ohio!"
Dutch Pirate Radio in the era of great Euro Disco - love it.
I've been searching for recordings of this station for 2 years now so excited to finally get one.
Loving these RRJ!! Keep them coming. I've been trying to find underground 60s radio for a long time.
Stay tuned! There's more on the way!
Ah, you've really got something special here! A treasure.
CKLW what a great air check Keep it coming thanks RRJ 😆👍🏻
One of the great voices of the 70s.
Ttssss.. 😎# one....la leyenda continua en el radio ....
Jim Ladd changed my life. 1977 I arrived at MCAS El Toro a little bigot from a shithole town. His late night broadcasts got me thinking in ways I never knew could be thought. Lord have mercy! Thank you Jim!
to think this would become z100 ny
Great to hear Cincy local radio from 1980. Thanks for this upload.
You're very welcome!
Great !!
Its Cars!!!
That song sounded so futuristic in 1980!
One of my radio idols. While working at WABC, George did color on Islander telecasts.
My favorite LA station.
Niiice. Thank you.🕺🏼🎯💃 You RocQ 😄
You're very welcome!
When I listen to this, I imagine myself living back in 1985 immersed in the awesomeness that was the 80's. I sure miss those days...
Yeah, that would be fun! In the meantime, these airchecks are the closest thing we have to a time machine! :)
...and Morgo the Friendly Drelb!
Thanks for sharing.
We have SPF 95 today but back then Johnsons was like, "here, baby oil, it's like a magnifying glass for your skin. Let's accelerate those UV rays."
This WAS my soundtrack during the summer of 1972. One of my favorite youthful summers! I was 14 and feeling a lot more freedom than in the past. I spent a lot of time on my dirt bike in the hills north of Pacific Beach and hanging out with my friends. At that time my dial was pretty much stuck on KSEA. I love airchecks where I can recall where I was and what I was doing, this one definitely qualifies. Maybe it was me or maybe their programming changed a bit more toward bubblegum, in early 1973 I made the trip south on the dial to HIS-FM, where I stayed until they went away at the end of 1973.
Who sang the next to last song? Runaway?
"Runaway" was by Jefferson Starship. Before that, it was Sister Sledge singing "My GUy".
Thanks!
@@wfd7144 You're very welcome!

Do you have any recordings from WDVE FM from the 70’s?Also KDKA 1020 AM from 50’s-80’s? Both Pittsburgh stations.
Sorry, not at this time.
Thanks anyway!
@@Augustine549 You're very welcome!
I remember this station and many other Canadian stations while visiting many were great and I heard some songs that never made hits in the USA Thanks RRJ enjoyable listening
I'd say, if I were to rank this...out of all your awesome videos you've done, this absolutely takes 1st place. Excellent job!!
My mom just passed from Stage 4 Lung Cancer, and I'll never forget 1 day coming home as a 10 year old kid, walking in the door to hearing her say "I did it, I did it" ... she was caller 13 and we went to Hawaii. I've been scouring RUclips for the off chance that her screaming into the phone is somewhere, they used her joy as a promo for years after.... RIP Mom
Sorry for your loss.
Is this the same Bruce Chandler who went to satellite around the turn of the 21st Century? I used his Oldies Feed at WKWN AM 1420, Trentin, GA. ...

An interesting comparison to me, this station sounded vastly better than KITT-FM in San Diego. They had similar formats, however KITT was broadcast in mono. My recollections of it were as a kid in the late 60s and early 70s. It was played in many stores and the homes of my older relatives.
Please restore this That would be awesome thanks in advance 👍🏻
Interesting definite vibe of the times. Love the political comments regarding the Vietnam war
47:15, future "TPIR" announcer and KLIF Alum, the late great Rod Roddy for Break Check Centers (a company that is likely long gone). Plus the late Richard Mock ( former KCBQ Newsman) doing the news.
KRTH was true to itself until the mid ‘90’s. Then it turned into the Madonna, Prince, Mister Mister, station on a loop.
Nice to hear that The “new, Jean Terrell-led” Supremes ranked here with 2 of their four Top 40 singles that year of 1970: “Up The Ladder To The Roof” and “Stoned Love.” I’m sure the next installment of this air check, covering that year’s Top Ten station picks, also will have probably included Diana Ross’s 2nd solo release and a smash hit that year, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” ❤👍 💿🎶
Why does Mr. Harrison have to speak over the song when the singing begins? A little sloppy on his part.
WPIX was a station ahead of it's time. They did disco nights in the mid 70's before WKTU and everyone else went disco. 1979-1980 they were New Wave years before anyone else. Mark Simone and the Simone Phone well before Howard Stern came to town.
3 months before graduating from Lynwood High.LA had such great radio 10Q was awesome & as always the one and only Real Don Steele was at his best as always 👍🏻 Thanks again RRJ
More CKLW please !
⚡️🎶🎵👁🎵🎶⚡️
Another fantastic find, RRJ!! Keep the underground shows coming!
😀
Why was KLOS always broadcasting in halfmono? It always seemed like they were catering to the audience listening to the station at their jobs i.e. the overhead speakers not the stereo or headphones 😅
