Wow!👏🏽🙌🏽
Man you are ripping through those gears! What kind of transmission and rear-end do you have in this car?
What class does NASA consider for a SLM or LM? Something like STU or GTA?
If you meet the hp:weight requirements, you could fit into ST1. Otherwise, you can run Super Unlimited.
@@AllenThornton84 Perfect, we'll look into this as well. Either way a setup like this looks fun out there! We came from circle tracks, then moved to Radicals & Ginettas at VIR for the last 4 years. Miss wheeling around a beast of a "stock car" especially on these windy road courses!
What motor are you running in this? (I know there's a ton of options). Looking at a track day/TT car for VIR and hopefully in the future places like Road Atlanta and Daytona
This car was built to race in SCCA GTA/GT2. I think it would fit into NASA ST1 pretty easily too. I'm running the "GM LS3" engine - Appendix H under the GTA rules and Addendum A engine package under the "2013 TA2 Technical Regulations" GT2 rules in the GCR. The LS engines have proven to be reliable and pretty low maintenance, just make sure to run a dry sump.
@@AllenThornton84 thank you for the detailed response! Seeing it's output in this video and knowing how reliable and low maintenance that motor can be, that's a perfect choice to get us pointed in the right direction. Thank you!
lighting his torch with a cigarette lighter so he can light his cigarette.
That thing is fuckin cool
Uh, it has massive skweeeez as heard on the decel after blip
Boogity, Boogity, Boogity!
Seeing this car famous for only turning left on short tracks overtake some sports cars is beyond cool
U dont feel the throttle let it know u r there in cornurs if just o tap shell respond better outta corner
Horrible miss there somewhere
Any particular cars in the late model/super late model to stay away from in a road coarse car? I’m wanting to put one together for track days. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Jeff burgess car is the best
How much horsepower?
Probably around 800-900. My OSLM has 900hp. Can’t really tell if this is an outlaw or not tbh Edit: it’s not the same super late that I drive. Probably still the same hp tho
Awesome footage Bob! Super fun to watch, i'm sorry about the engine Hope you get back down to Daytona soon!
Man that looks like fun!
Mustangs
Cool as hell
Ive been looking for a group to race in. Road Atlanta is my local track. Id love some info on the best way to find one of these cars. It checks all the boxes for me. I was looking into the Cup cars but just to expensive for me. Thanks, Jeff 941.650.2436
CAR PORN ! SWEETNESS!
nascar should be taking notes.
Sounds legit
Ohhh heeeeeyyyyy
That looks like one driven SOB
First, awesome driving! Does this car have a solid rear axle? What engine?
Brad Raziano - thanks! Yep, a solid axle - winters quick change. The engine in it at the time was an iron head SBC, 12:5:1 compression, solid roller. It made 490 rwhp with a 650 carb.
Allen Thornton thanks for the quick response. I have a fresh vortec 5.7 with a LT4 hot cam, LS3 springs, decked heads, and I am trying to figure out a transmission. I found a used t56 but def can’t bang through the gears like your car. I’m amazed how that solid spool can handle so well. Assuming it’s the speed and suspension setup?
Brad Raziano nice! Yeah I love my Jerico transmission. I have run a car with a spool but this one actually has a locker. Actually at the time, the setup on the car was garbage. It still had shocks with circle track valving, a goofy alignment, and unknown corner weights. It was still fun though!
Allen Thornton so the locker is open when going slow around the pits. It’s a clutch style locker or mechanical?
Brad Raziano it’s not a clutch style. It’s basically open during decel and locked during accel.
dirt car is better
Nah
@@Raptordude05 very much dirt is 100x better.
@@HighRollinMedia I race asphalt it’s better in my opinion

It looks like an offset chassis. How did you set it up for a road course? Mine has different spindles, control arms left to right, a carb that wouldn't know what to do in a right hand turn.
Yes, it is an offset chassis. Actually, back when I ran this test all I had done was square up the front end by matching the right and left side upper and lower control arm lengths , and put neg camber on the LF. I still had circle track valved shocks, and both the oil tank and battery were sill on the left side. I've since gotten the shocks revalved, created a bolt on perimeter frame rail for RS weight, and moved the battery and oil tank to the right side. With my current setup, there isn't much difference between my offset chassis and a perimeter chassis. It's a blast, I wish more people would take brings their cars that have been stored away out to race with us. You don't have to have the latest and greatest front clips/chassis to be fast and the cost to run these cars is so much cheaper than a production car.
While upper arms are easily changed, the lower arms are different lengths. The spindles are 7° and 12°, although I have a pair of 10° around here somewhere. The front anti-roll bar only works in left-hand turns. The rear axles and axle tubes are different lengths left and right. The diff is a solid spool which I'm told is a no-no for road courses; something that requires tire stagger. The shocks are set up for a big-bar/soft spring left-hand turn setup. The tranny has 3-gears and the shifter is 3 rods sticking up. The carb has left-hand turn float bowls. The oval accelerator pedal is has a foot trap to allow closing the throttle with a broken return spring, but totally blocks heal and toe downshifts. The pedal separation would also be too much. Besides that, I used to left foot braking, which would be a problem if I was shifting. The engine itself was built to the rules of a class with pretty radical ramps that wear out valve springs, mechanical lifters, and individual roller rockers with a stud girdle. Minimally, I'd put in a shaft rocker. But really, for HPDE or any of the wt/hp classes a moderate hydraulic roller cam would probably be best. Also, where I raced didn't allow rear view mirrors, and the view between the lexan rear window and spoiler would be pretty minimal. Everything I look at it, it gets expensive. Either a new or used perimeter chassis, maybe a fuel injected crate motor, a new transmission or maybe an automatic like the GM 10-speed. Some sort of limited slip diff, revalved shocks, new front bar. At that point I'm keeping the Quartermaster clutch, AP brakes, and Franklin rear end, with new tubes and shafts, radiator, oil tank, fuel cell. Not that much. I still don't understand how you got past all of that. I'd love to have the car for HPDE. I'd even keep the HP down, I don't want to find out what a 150mph crash feels like!
I got lucky, my car came with 10 degree spindles. I also added a heim and fixed swaybar arm to the RF (sorry, I left that out). During this test, I was still running the super motor that the car came with, as well as the 650 holley carb that came one it. I've since sold that motor and bought an LS6 that is legal for ST1 with NASA and GTA with SCCA. The motor that was in the car during this test was a monster. It did 167 down the backstretch. The LS motor is far more tame, although I've gotten the setup more dialed in and am as fast now as I was then with 100 more hp. I replaced the 2 speed trans with a 4 speed Jerico. As far as the pedals go, I don't use the clutch outside of the paddock/pits. I left foot brake and blip the gas on downshifts. I added an extra rearview mirror on my dash to help me see out the right side of the car. My rear window is hazy as well as my spoiler but I'm still able to see well enough to race. I still have the rearend in the car that was circle track raced. I don't have cambered snouts although if I did I would be able to run negative camber in the rear. My axle tubes are still different lengths as well. I've raced a late model with a spool and while I didn't like it as much as my locker, you can still be fast. From my experience, you have to be more precise on downshifts and it makes the car push. I think the V8 Supercars series ran spools for a long time.
GTA looks interesting...but my engine doesn't meet any of their rules. A "traditional" would need a new top end and leave the dreaded stud girdle. GM no longer lists an ASA engine or any engine with the specs given. How much was the Jericho? Why did you choose the 4 speed over the 5 speed? The NASA rules allow much more radical aero...but the classes are weakly populated (2-4 cars from what I see) so maybe it is more about being there than winning a competitive race. I looked at SRF, Spec Miata, and even Spec E30 last year. I don't fit the first two (my shoulders are too wide), I don't fit an NA/NB street Miata either. The Spec E30s were just too ratty, and both Spec Miata and Spec E30 were basically a new chassis in any non-minor crash. Being able to keep my old Port City (97 with 01 front clip) would be a saving. Otherwise, all I have are a bunch of parts. I was thinking of using the 3-camera rear view cameras used for trailers instead if a regular mirror. Motec even has that in some of their GT and Prototype dashboards.
good hustle bud, I know them cars are a hand full
Nice!
