I must say I am very impressed with this Pre-Fab. Not going to win any SPL competitions, but works great for a daily.

@@lew-e very clean quality sound. Wish they had a little more thump. With the low cubic feet of air space I was working with though, no regrets.

Wait!! Do you mean that you like this better than the Sundown Audio subs?
They hit a lot harder. But also remember your comparing down firing shallow mount 10’s, to up firing standard subs above the back seat.
Not sure I’d have my tire sitting on that bar for a long distance. It might be ok for a cruiser but if you damaged the integrity of the carcass of the tire you might have issues at speed. I once ran over an expansion joint that caused a sharp 2 in rise in the surface of the road, hit it at about 30-35 mph. It was a bit of a jolt but hey, no problem right? Tires and suspension were made to handle it, right? Later that day on the freeway I had a front wheel blow out at 80mph. An investigation named that event as the culprit. It separated cords in the tire and when enough centripetal force was applied… 💥.
Haven’t had any trouble after thousands of of miles towed.
Extra batteries needed for that amp?
No, I did put a XSpower battery though.

Can you share where you bought all your parts for it?
Headlights,taillights and side steps ebay. The tonneau cover and wheels and tires(Fuel Vapor 20 inch Wheels) were ordered for me from Truck’n America- Tuners Car Audio in Ringgold GA.The car stereo equipment I got from various places. Tuners Car Audio,Down4Sound and Crutchfield’s. The Exhaust was done by Exhaust Addicts out of Nashville TN.The bug guard and side window deflectors (weathertech) were also ordered by Tuners Car Audio-Truck’n America.

How much RMS is going into them ?
I have a Sundown Salt 17.5,5 channel powering the system. The amp dyno showed 1300 on the sub channel @ 2ohms. Hope that helps.

What do you have for mids and highs?
Kenwood Excelon XR 1801P front, Kenwood Excelon XR 1701 coaxial rear.
Are these in a sealed or ported enclosure? And how many cuft?
They are in a sealed down firing enclosure. 1.5 cubes. The box is a pre-fab.
How would you compare to sa-8s
Hard to say. My guess is, in a good ported enclosure they would probably get a little louder. The SD4 Tens are very clean and punchy. Not loud.

On the d-ring could you use a J bolt and wingnut?
I’m sure it’s possible. Haven’t ever tried that. Great idea though! I’ll give it a try and let you know.
