I drive a 1993 40th Anniversary Corvette and am documenting my adventures in Motor Sports. I'm a complete novice join me for the ride. UPDATES
6.20.22: I put Bilstein B6 shocks on the car, it rides a whole lot better. No more bouncy bouncy.
10.20.2022 I upgraded to stainless steel brake hoses, two new drivers side calipers, flushed the black brake fluid out and replaced with new DOT 5.1 fluid, higher boiling point, and Hawk HPS brake pads.
04.07.2023: New clutch, master and slave cylinders, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket.
04.20.2023 New wheels 18x9 (TSW Nurburing) and tires (Kuhmo PS91) 275.35.R18 on the car for the summer.
06.29.2023 New front pass caliper
07.08.2023 New brake master cylinder (Autozone) and brake fluid flush
07.19.2023 New drivers side window switch
08.14.2023 New brake master cylinder - again failed, fluid leaking out the pressure sensor. Went with an AC Delco this time.

Last run of the day, tried to beat my best time and hit a cone in the process.
Engine Bay
Просмотров 60Месяц назад
Sprucing up the engine Bay by painting the fuel rail covers and the throttle body cover. I used some high heat black glossy paint, a couple of paint pens - red, white and black. And I also used 1K clear coat to finish it all off. Looks really good, didn't take a lot of work and not very difficult to do.

nice run tim!
It seems really fast when in car but when I watch the video it seems quite slow. I see where I can pick up some speed.
@@TimedTim AX videos always look slow ! i know how you feel.. i was running 25.7 in the stock GTi with 240tw tires.
Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
haha. i see. Can i buy your old dual mass flywheel and pressure plate?
Sure, make me an offer!
how did you rectify?
Bought a whole new setup from Carolina Clutch.
😂 @01:00 because safe and no damage. I think spins are fun to watch (when no damage of course) and I also like to post ones I have witnessed or participated in. ;) Thanks for posting - sorry I know it ruined your run, but at least it’s an entertaining video. ;) Keep safe out there!
Its none of the few sports where spinning is encouraged - gotta find the limit of traction! Just dont do it every run...
What tires are you on?
Kuhmo PS91. Not the best tire but the price was right and waaay better than last years all-seasons.
Best of luck with the rest of the job! I'm happy to see you know what you're doing with it. Did you end up figuring out why the car accelerated like that in the crash? As a fellow C4 owner, seeing it behave like that was quite frightening.
*Promosm* 😱
Not bad! Tires are always better than a solid wall.
Isn't that the truth!
😂
I hit 120mph in my V6 Toyota Camry the other day. A 2009 Camry. Why you boasting about it in a Corvette?
Try it on a track and don't crash braking in to the turn. Any one can go fast in a straight line on the highway.
Have you ever run an event with the targa off?
No, the top is structural so when it's off the car flops around, lots of chassis twist. Chassis braces are available, it's on the list of future improvements but keeping the top on is free, ;)
@@TimedTim I have an 87 and I’ve noticed how “loose” it feels with the top off. I was kind of curious if they would let you run with top off and how much slower it would be with all the flex. I haven’t gotten into these track events yet but would love to! I’ve seen some photos of targa braces but looks like no one makes anymore unfortunately
Hi Tim, do u think its possible that the vac pump is pulling air in past the bleeder nipples? i know mine did that; i switched to using the chris fix 1 man bleed method with a 2 l coke bottle.
It could be but pedal feels great and no ABS lights are on.
!!!!! dude! that was close!!!!! We have all been there. So did you analyze why that happened? Maybe cresting a hill while turning and braking? Subbed for C4 track content. We have a group on CF in the C4 general section devoted to track discussion and there ae two other C4’s running palmer. You should join the thread and meet up there. Palmer is on my bucketlist
Yeah, there are only a few C4 people I follow on RUclips, grateful for all the fix it videos posted by lots of people. I had open track ahead of me so I just floored it, when I saw it wasn't going to end well, I lifted and turned the wheel a little more to avoid collision with the wall, just missed it. Palmer is the best track I've been to. Would like to try Club Motorsports in Tamworth NH, looks like a good one too. What is CF?
hey sry fo the late reply, corvetteforum is cf@@TimedTim
When I replaced my master cylinder I bleed the unit " on the bench" using those return hoses that feed back into the tank, AND by pushing in on the plunger with both totally complete strokes in and out and with midiun and short strokes. This is how the service manual recommended. THEN, I bolted the unit into place . I never maipulated the lines, keeping them full. Then I bolted the lines to the master cylinder. I did not even have to bleed anything. HOWEVER , now I could have bled the whole system if I wanted to line by line since the master cylinder itself is air free. I do not think you can fully bleed the master cylinder on the car because of limits of the brske pedal and booster.
I dont have a bench or vice to put it in to bleed it. Did the best with what I had, it worked!
I'd like to hear about all the maintenance you are doing.
Just the normal stuff, I do an oil change before and after the racing season so 2x a year. When I purchased the car in 2020 the previous owner gave me 1 oil change receipt, that's it! Thus in 2021 I did the 100k service - all the gear box's oil , motor oil, spark plugs and wires, greased the suspension fittings, new tires to replace the 10 year olds that were on there. Last summer I did all new brake fluid, new pads and rotors in the rear and changed out both driver side calipers. I also replaced the shocks with Bilstein B6's last year. Scheduled this year is new lightweight wheels and summer performance tires, will have to do the front pads and rotors at some point, and I just bought a battery to replace my dead one. - And I will fix whatever else breaks but that's it for this year. 2024 improvements are going to be fatter roll bars and/or stiffer springs, suspension is too soft and bouncy - and fix whatever breaks, it's a recurring theme with a 30 year old car!
@@TimedTim Thank you, that is great information.

Forgot to mention that it is a 6-Speed!! That is the best part! Kinda Rare.
Opps, I'm sure I missed a few other things as well!
Does your vette have Z07 suspension? Looks like it was a very fun day!
Hi, no it's a base suspension. I believe the shocks are original to the car so I will be swapping in some Bilstein B6's in the near future. I'm doing an autox in two weeks, I will have videos posted.
@@TimedTim Thats awesome! Something else you may want to do is get some 92 vette wheels (17x9.5) and mount sticky 275s at all 4 corners. Autox is pretty rough on tires...ive been told its nice to have a dedicated race set.
Go get Em speed racer!
welcome to the addiction!!
