Garden clean up continued | garden bed prep | Lawn clippings as mulch
Просмотров 57 часов назад
Today we uncover the mower to collect lawn clippings We are using the chop and drop no dig method to prepare the garden beds for their next season of planting. This involves clearing the bed, putting the chopped up leaves and debris on the garden and then placing a thick layer of grass clippings on top to make the most beautiful microbe rich black soil for the next planting

    I, (aka mum) have been growing and making pickled beets for 20 years. I don't boil my jars, because our water is so hot-almost boiling. I dont water bath after, because the pickling vinegar is boiling when I put it over the beetroot. This makes everything sterile as long as you lid straight away. Will last two years in the pantry

    That looked pretty good. Your seeds were at a nice, tender stage. I like eating the unopened flower buds, too. Then they are more like artichoke hearts. If people have trouble growing artichokes, like in a more wet climate or with a short season, sunflower buds are a great substitute and it's easy to grow a lot of them, like you pointed out.

    • @becs100organicgarden8
      @becs100organicgarden8 3 года назад

      I have seen a video about eating buds too ! I think a variety that grows multiple heads would be best for that and it’s something I’d also like to try!

    Great job Rebecca! What a wonderful video! I use sawdust from a local furniture maker as bedding it works well. I keep my bins unlevel so there are a variety of moisture choices for them. Best wishes!

    Hey! Love the dinosaurs in the garden! I think you'd have more luck with the kratky if you used an inert medium for the net cups. You can get expanded clay or scoria from bunnings and it will be less of a vector for soil related diseases and pests such as the mites. This is because the soil will always be wet with kratky causing more problems. Keep the vids coming. They get easier every time. :)

      Hoocho thanks for having a look! The Dino is my toddler girls but he’s my secret fave haha ummm yes I had thought it’s the soil messing things up! I have vermiculite and peat moss so have set up new ones with that mix. 😃

      Dino’s were my favourite toys as a kid. She’s got good taste. The vermiculite and peat moss would work well.
