LeadershipQualitiesinEmergencyDepartmentAkshayatAIIMS. inEnglishAfterFirst16%ofvideoinHindi
Why leadership qualities are so crucial? Many people ask me that when we discuss this issue in the ACCC course. Usually, the usage of the word 'leadership' implies political leadership !!
An intern (F1 in UK) or junior resident doctor should develop leadership role i.e., an attitude of owning responsibility and team building.
My Answer: The assessment and resuscitation of a patient who is deteriorating needs a team approach for timely and effective intervention. All those responding to ‘blue code call’, ‘red code call’ or Medical Emergency Team (MET) call would not know any details of that patient. Whosoever is the doctor, often an intern or a junior resident at ‘ungodly hours’ in that spec...

CHOTYA and CARTOON LOOKING MANEK SHAW took 13 days to submit an ill equipped army of just 43,000 regular army( 93,000 figure is a bluff because out of 93,000 there were 50,000 civilians, including police, boarder forces, civil servants, etc) surrounded by enemy which is 10 times more powerful in all aspect of military means and have one of the super power standing side by side shoulder to shoulder. What an idiot was Manak Shaw, indeed! FM Romel took just 15 hours to capture whole France in WWII, wher as this Chotya ManekShaw took 13 days.

😆 You should instead of attacking a late General who fought for his nation, question your generals who did genocides of Bengalis & still have occupied Pakistan, jailed it's elected prime minster.

  • @अहम्बुद्धःअस्मि

Great video, my key takeaways & summary of it for my future self: • In the video Sam Manekshaw former CoAS of the Indian army and the general of it in Indo-Pak 1971 war educates us about leadership. • He highlights about the lack of leadership in India, not only political but of every kind, he has firm belief that leaders are made & any man with reasonable common sense & decency can be a leader, why so? He states that the cardinal attribute of leadership is professional knowledge & competence which can only be acquired after birth. • The next attribute of a leader is the ability to take a decision & accepting complete responsibility of it. • An act of omission is much worse than an act of commision as an act of commision even if bad can be put right by others. • Another attribute necessary to become a leader is absolute justice & impartiality. • The next attribute is moral & physical courage • A yes man is an absolute disgrace according to Sam, he gives an example from his life in 1970, in the month of April when he was asked to attack Pakistan by then prime minister, he made it absolutely clear that we'd lose the war, given circumstances such as April being the month of harvest and in a state of war if all the transport in the country would be used to move soldiers to borders there would be a famine, which the then minister of agriculture didn't highlighted being a yes man, he stated how in this month the snowy himalayan passes are opening in Indo sino border & if Chinese gave an ultimatum we'd have to fight a two front war which then minster of external affairs being a yes man didn't highlighted. He also stated how in the rainy season Bangladeshi landscape would be an absolute swamp. • He also highlighted how in Indo-Sino war of 1962, The then army chief didn't had moral courage to tell the then prime minster the country wasn't ready for war & we wouldn't have faced a defeat. • On physical courage he stated it is important to not show fear in front of the men you're leading whether you're afraid or not. • Give loyalty to your subordinates just as you expect them to give it to you. • The leader must have a sense of humor to take men out of a situation of dispondency. • He should have 'the gift of the gab.' • The leader should be a bit of a 'man' or a bit of a lad, especially with women. He cited examples of Julius Caesar, Napolean, the Duke of Wellington before the battle of Waterloo. • No amount of leadership will put things right, there are two other important aspects that we Indians lack badly- Discipline & character. • Discipline is the code of conduct for decent living in society one with the other. • Non punctuality is an act of indiscipline. • He must be humble. • On question of why march to east Pakistan he stated the weight that 9 million immigrants had on India & then stated how he then asked Pakistan to create conditions for these people to come back or we will. • There is little corruption in the army due to fear of consequences of one's actions. • For cultivating self-discipline he suggests reading one's religious scriptures & confessing to oneself everyday about what wrong you've done.

  • @अहम्बुद्धःअस्मि

I enjoyed & learned a whole lot from the video but disliked the way he portrayed the English language & it's culture superior while referring to wearing dhoti or lungi to an event as indiscipline.

The key takeaway from this speech is a clear and inspiring blueprint for effective leadership: 1. Leadership is not innate-it can be cultivated. • Leadership stems from qualities like common sense, decency, professional competence, and continuous learning. 2. Decisiveness is critical. • Timely decisions prevent inefficiencies and loss, highlighting the importance of confidence and clarity in leadership. 3. Justice and fairness build respect. • Impartiality in decision-making fosters trust and strengthens leadership credibility, even during difficult times. 4. Courage defines true leaders. • Moral courage is about standing firm in the face of right and wrong. • Physical courage is about managing fear effectively, setting an example for others. 5. Leadership impacts society broadly. • Addressing leadership gaps can resolve systemic issues across various sectors, making leadership development essential for societal progress. The overarching lesson: Leadership is about action, integrity, and the ability to inspire and guide others through competence and courage.

English is just a language ,it is not a measure of competence , during british times officers were carefully selected from english speaking elites and communities whom were like coconuts( brown from outside white from inside) , nowdays a proper exam is conducted and officers came from tier 2 3 cities also, and most importantly commands and orders are in hindi so , no problem that today's officers are more inclined towards hindi I am proud of sam and that generation officers but i am more proud on indianised officers....

professional knowledge acquired hardway ability to make up mind and take decision and accepting full resp for it absolute justice and impartiality moral courage and physical courage -- A yesman is a horrible man, He must be shunned, He may rise in society but never become leader , Manekshaw refuging to start a war on indhira gandhi's request Physical courage - Don't show fear even if you're frightened, e.g War in Burma Commanding Sikh Company Sovent Singh giving him pistol to shoot him, also making him in charge of his security loyalty -- expect and give loyalty to your subordinates leadership is management of men and resources, men have problems Leader must have a human touch, Humour should be there in a leader You should be a man Discipline - Code of conduct for society, Army Act, e.g story of punctuality, vip vs sam talk 5k people, Tanzania animal discipline Character - knowing ur self, knowing what u are; people praising sam as the best general of century and immediately getting the taste of reality
