Sabah is a piece of mine which I composed in Kumkuyu, a small town on the Mediterrenean coast of Turkey. The video is taken at the ancient ruins in Kumkuyu, called Akkale. The Roman ruins are thought to date back to 1st century AD. Sabah means morning in Turkish. All instruments are played by myself and recorded in my home studio. I hope you enjoy a morning in Kumkuyu at the ancient ruins. .......

@CerenTurkmenoglu hi Çeren! 👋 maybe you could go to Şanlı Urfa...looks from another time. You could go to some of the Ancient sites too. Frig Vadisi is associated with the Phrygian mode/ makam. Then Lydia had the Lydian mode/makam. Some of the makams are based on Ancient modes, but these days they have different names.

@CerenTurkmenoglu here is something interesting>>> all religions have music. The temple at Göbekli Tepe was for one of the oldest religions on Earth...so that place had also one of the oldest musics on Earth. So, Anatolia had maybe the oldest music and then as time passed the music continued and it became the oldest musical tradition on Earth...this may be the reason why Sanat muziği is so rich and beautiful. I showed some samples to Indian musicians who play sitar and sarod. They were impressed to see how many spaces are marked on a yayli tanbur. I have a book showing how some makams are based on Byzantine modes and another book showing how Byzantine modes are the hypo forms of Ancient Greek and Anatolian modes.

Thank you so much, much love to Greece! This is a different type of kamancha. I believe the one you’re referring to is the classical kemenche, in other words Istabul kemenche, which is pear shaped and is very similar to the Greek lyra. This one on the video is named as the Anatolian kamancha, which has more similarities to the Persian kamancha.

Dear Ceren, i will surprise you with this info:: Rauf Yekta Bey in the article on Ottoman music printed in Dictionaire du Conservatoire de Paris mentioned that Pouseliq[Buselik]was the makam of the Dacians. Dacians were the northern Thracians[Trakyalılar]. Since Cantemir was from Moldavia he was a great grandson of Dacians...who became the Romanians after the Roman conquest of Dacia at 106 CE. This is very interesting because we do not have any makam known to be Dacian other than Buselik, which is n o t known to Romanians. The other interesting thing is that the Thracians went to help the people of Troy against the Achaeans- Greeks. After Thracian was discovered written in Greek characters on the island of Samothrace (that was used by Thracians for religious initiations)the language is compared by linguists to Anatolian languages[not specified which languages exactly in the article I read]. Romanians then must have some genetic relatives in Anatolia. Bythinia on the N coast of the Black Sea was settled by Thracians.

That is so interesting Alex, thank you for sharing this info with me. It’s astonishing that Buselik is such an ancient makam. I always found it to be a captivating makam, maybe the reason is how it stood against time for all those centuries.
