The dude is tuff! You know that had to hurt and he just took it. Hope he makes a full recovery.
You can see exactly what happen if you do playback speed 0.25 he planted like he was going to slide but then at the last second changed his mind into a dive. Major pressure on his ankle. Tough to see I hope this kid can recover.
As soon as he sent him, you can see the 3rd base coach hang his head.

He hung his head because Montgomery slowed up rounding the base, but he was going to be out anyways, and the bad send was made infinitely worse with the resulting injury.
