Giving and receiving feedback in writing workshops
In this informal, one-hour lecture, Prof. Paul Kramer of Vanderbilt University, speaks to his undergraduate students in the course "Writing for Social Change" on some principles and practices to keep in mind when workshopping each other's writings. He focuses on one-on-one conversations between peers, but much of the lecture can also apply to feedback by mentors and instructors, and workshopping groups. Drawing on his own experiences, and existing scholarship on the psychology of feedback, he stresses workshopping as a mutual gift exchange and creative, alchemical process, in which the non-antagonistic encounter of different perspectives creates conditions for fresh invention.

I'm currently in graduate school for public administration (first semester). Your video has been VERY helpful to me, especially when you mentioned how to fail productively. And taking the lessons away from failure to do better. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

The Statue of Liberty is both a man and woman, and neither. Some say its the male diety Helios because "The New Collosus" is a poem by Emma Lazar at the base of the Statue of Liberty, and point to the crown but noone actually knows what the Collosus of Rhodes actually looked like if Im not mistaken, but the poem came after the S.O.L. was placed in the harbor The S.O.L. was designed by a French sculptor named Bartoldi, the rays are also used on other Greco-Roman dieties such as Hecate too so it may be a general motif. Im fairly sure it is a hybrid f liberty and Helios, Hermaphrodite being Hermes the god of knowledge and Aphrodite a goddess of love is basically the same symbolic essence as Philosophia, the Herm-Aphrodite is a thing in alchemical symbolism. The ambiguous hermaphrodite being a sign of Union like the basic symbolic essences of the Ancient Egyptian dieties Geb and Nut/Nuit on the reverse side of the seal. You cant always look at these things with the basic tinted lenses of common society because their are usually esoteric levels to the symbols used by the United States.
