I have this kit as well. Have you ever wondered why there is no option to backup your user kits, instruments, and trigger settings to usb or pc? I mean every drum module usually has this feature. It's even usually recommended to do a backup before doing a firmware update. What do you think?

When your playing the hi hats pivot both of your hands towards each other almost like your palms facing towards the floor.

Great video Sam. I am enjoying the set very much! I find that I am always adjusting settings just a little more here and there and the set is becoming more real feeling! It just takes tweaking to get it right and close to a real set feel. Obviously the rubber cymbals won't feel like real ones but the response and sound will. Thank you for recording your experience with this set!

Ive had this kit for about a month now. A few times now the module has frozen up, in particular when I am using bluetooth and playing along. It froze up once so bad that i had to pull the power cord to reset it. Any issues with that?

Great review. I have some question.... Is this E-KIT customizable? I am a open handed player - the RIDE cymbal needs to go to the left. and a least one more to the left. question 2... what do you think about this? "Just got my Strata Prime, and I’d like to share with you some major concerns before you make the purchase. After playing it for 3 days straight I’m wrestling with the idea of returning it! Let me start this off by saying Alesis did so many things right. The module is fantastic. The feel of the drums are awesome, and the sounds are well done. When I sit behind the strata you feel right at home, and it’s great. Unfortunately if you play with any sort of finesse you’ll find out quite quickly there’s some major short comings. The Hi-hat is lacking big time in my opinion. If you compare this to Roland’s equivalent it’s not even close. Any sort of dynamic playing with accenting, specifically 16th notes, just do not translate well. It makes your playing sound stiff, and the expression isn’t there. This can also be said about the other cymbals. While not as obvious and passable they still leave something to be desired. The drums themselves I found were also passable. Not too many issues to be comment on and I found them to be good enough. For me what this kit is lacking is all the subtleties of playing drums. If you’re just trying to play rock music without a ton of intricacies I think this kit would fit the bill. However, and this is a BIG however. If your goal is to be able to play things that require any kind of dynamics I think you’ll be disappointed as I was. While the price is indeed competitive I find this set to be overhyped, and while it has its place I find this kit to be sort of confused. Who should buy this? The price would say more advanced players who value what this seems to offer, but I think this is more suited for beginners or people who just don’t care about what I just pointed out. Overall I’m pretty bummed out about my purchase…after watching all the hyped up videos I had my hopes high, but I think it’s going back to the store sadly. Thanks for your review! I've had the Strata Prime for a couple weeks now and love it. Haven't come across the trigger issues you're describing. Are you sure that this is not related to (out of the box) settings, or anything similar? Anyhow, hope it gets solved for you (and the rest of us playing the Strata) and that Alesis will keep on releasing frequent firmware updates.

Hey man would you consider doing some more piano tutorials like your Queen ones from a few months ago? I’d really love a tutorial for Into My Arms by Nick Cave but honestly your tutorials are so good I’d learn anything you put out. Cheers.

This does not actually install any kits or samples onto the module, it simply syncs the the drum kit so it can trigger the drums using the BFD player. You will need to have your laptop connected to your module if you want to use these kits. There are already some samples with BFD labels on them but they are not the same thing...

how did you add bfd kits

I haven’t seen anyone with this kit talk about how the module works with other trigger pads. I’m really interested in getting a module to use with my A2E kit and just want to know how well the module and other triggers play together.

I never had that problem. Maybe there is an issue with your kit.

The triggering problem is a no go for me. I use edrums with my band to play live, we can’t have missing hits like that. Meh…

great review dude, I've seen some other people talk about tightening the kick head or the snare head which helped to fix some triggering issues. Have you given this a go?

Could you do a in depth look at the hi hat bell and its velocity levels?

There si no Free additionnel kit on the module, on BFD player, but not on the module 😢

Hey, is it possible to assign tom sound to other pads other than toms ? For example if I wanted to turn snare into 5th tom ( additional floor tom) would that be possible? Or would the module force me into chosing only snare sounds since it's plugged into "snare" input rather than tom / aux .
