Great video, but I will say that Atlanta and Fulton are not the oldest municipalities in the region. In fact, Gwinnett and Cobb are quite older. Gwinnett, named after one of the founding British fathers was established in 1818, along with a couple other towns in that county in the early 18th century. Cobb was established in 1832 and Marietta 1834. Back to Gwinnett, Dacula was one of the first earliest European settlements in the area of NE Georgia around the time of 1812. Soon after Cherokee Nation, The Muscogee and others were eventually pushed west into the Yazoo land of what is now AL and Mississippi or other states far west. Thats where the Trail of Tears comes from. East central Georgia and coastal areas are even older with counties near Athens etc being established in the 1770’s, 1780’s and 1790’s. Atlanta and Fulton is surprisingly on the younger side than many other counties in the state. You have towns like Dahlonega further north in the mountains that are older. It is however in a strategic location, and not by a random arbitrary calculation. Atlanta borders the continental divide, and is the furthest south on the Appalachians where you can begin to go around it. This posed as a barrier for western expansion early on, and its location served as a nexus.

Grew up in Johns Creek, went to Wilson Creek, River Trail, Johns Creek and this video is very accurate. To me, the one place that Johns Creek really lags behind is in parks. The new Cauley Creek park is great, and they have Autrey Mill, but other than that, you're typically driving to Alpharetta, Roswell, and Forsyth if you want any variety or a greenway.
