A look at the Colt 1911/1991 Government Model in stainless steel.
Greetings, Keith. I am hesitant to comment on sizing because I really don't know the answer. I don't want to fake an answer and end up giving you bad advice. If you visit a Red Wing store in the UK, I would imagine they have the same sizing device as they have in the states and it's pretty advanced. Once they determine your size they will bring out a pair for trying on. I would not skip the store and buy online. Too risky. Best bet is to visit a brick and mortar Red Wing store. Hope this helps. Thanks for your nice comment. Wishing you well, sir. May God bless you. Edit* Regarding the shoe cream, I still haven't used any. Should not use that until the leather is exposed to a lot of sun and begins to dry. You will know because it loses its resilience and slightly stiffens. When you see that, it's time for some moisture application.
Amazing video really enjoyed it, out of curiosity I wear a 9.5 uk in a timberland boot and I don’t have a narrow foot so I’m guessing if I went half a size down I would be okay ? And also did you buy the leather cream from these guys or is it not necessary right away. Thank you i never had an expensive pair of boots like these before so I’m asking a lot before I buy
Hello sir just wondering how thick in millimeters is the leather of the boot? Also may I have your opinion on buying from the "second batch" and receiving a model with cosmetic defects in means to save money? Additionally, how many inches are the laces? I would potentially swap mine to leather laces
Hello. The thickness of the leather is 3 mm. The length of each lace is 143 cm. It depends on the nature of the second blemish. Sometimes with a second the blemish is barely noticeable, and sometimes it will be a huge blemish. My personal approach is 60%. If a second is 60% of the cost of a first or lower, I will take a chance on it. If a second is higher than 60%, I will just go with the first. Hope this helped.
@@CharlesBecket Thanks for the thorough reply 👍 Cheers
Bought two pairs last month the 8085 and 8111both pairs the speed hooks had sharp burrs and after one wear it cut the tongue leather of the 8085 luckily it’s not deep, so before I wore the other pair I took needle nose pliers and bent the sharp places down more then used sand paper to sand the hooks, I also cut small pieces of moleskin and put those on both pairs to help with the issue. I don’t mind kilties but really didn’t want to put any in these two pairs
I reached out to their customer service email with a question recently and got a rude response. I'm done with Red Wing. Your situation is further proof of the need to go elsewhere for boots. Thanks.
Thanks, very insightful. Especially the explanation of the size-to-clown-shoe effect ratio and the description of the colour alteration under sunlight exposure was new to me.
Your comments are warm and kind. Thank you so much. Wishing you well.
I have a couple of pairs of Golden Fox boots. These are 100% Goodyear welted. It’s a PVC welt, so likely only good for one resole before the welt has to be replaced. The welt is sewn to the midsole and the crepe rubber outsole is glued on. It’s possible to have GYW welted boots where the welt isn’t sewn directly to the outsole. It’s a less expensive construction method for sure, which is why these boots are priced significantly less than other GYW boots.
Greetings, can you please tell me what is a size of your boots?
Hello. US size 9. Wishing you well.
@@CharlesBecket thank you very much and best regards.
I've been doing some boot research for the last month or so. I ordered some Wolverine 1000MILE boots because they were on sale. If they don't work out, I'm just going to my local Red Wing store, get some of these or the blacksmiths and call it a day......
How they have been so far?
Greetings, Jose. They have been awesome. I find that I never wear my Thursday, Red Wing, and Beckett Seminon boots because they are "my precious" boots like right out of LOTR. I wear them every day. Bought a new motorcycle recently and even wear them for riding. They have broken in very well and the fit is awesome...formed to my feet. Thanks for your question. Wishing you well.
Nice 😎. I just purchased a pair of 8086’s dated stamped 05/19.
That's really cool. In grocery stores old stock is supposed to be pulled forward and the newer food items placed behind the older. You've got to know that in Red Wing or other shoe stores workers get a little lazy and do the opposite, placing new stock in front of older stock because it's not perishable. I would love to learn more stories like yours. What is the oldest pair of boots to be sold as new stock? Have to wonder if a pair had been sitting on a shelf 10 or 20 years before it sold. Thanks for your comment.
You bought daylight bulbs but cant buy a tripod?
Everytime someone ask me to sell my gun to them I always say, your gun is waiting for you in the gun store.

Greetings from Manchester England mine looked like that 3 & half years ago now there even more better colours top boot great choice ❤
those look eerily similar to doc martens
This boot, despite being the cheapest nice boot you can find, is still a better made and more comfy boot than any doc. Plus you can resole this boot at least once. Docs just go into the trash once they are worn and falling apart.
@@OfDeath Don't these boondocker boots have a pointier toe? I'm worried I wont be able to get used to them.
@@junktube4000 if you need a wider toe box i suggest going a size up or just getting some Jim Greens.
@@junktube4000 I'd suggest going up a half size or just getting some Jim Greens if you need a wider toe. I have two pairs of JG boots and love them.
Yes, I saw a photo of a guy modling them, but they must have been size 11 or 12. His very narrow pants didnt help either combined with the camera position really lent them the clown shoe look. Im only size 8 but my problem is that Im quite short and the tiny heel doesn't help much in that department. Anyway, I knew that when I was buying them and it doesn't bother me so much.
buy once cry once.
Hi, what is the length of the insole in cm?
It is 28.3 cm.
@@CharlesBecket thank you
Great review, I got the same ones
I have the same. Left 10D, Right 9.5E. Thet I got the 8085 10D
Thanks for the information. I was thinking about getting the Blacksmith in Briar Oil Slick but was thinking 9 1/2 D since it doesn't come in E or wide widths. So you solved my problem: 10 it will be. Thank you for that very helpful information.
💥Great pair of boots been wearing them for 45 years Have all makes and models💥
they look great, i like ur commitment to your art with the light bulb change! what shoe tree do u recommend for a good tight fit around the pre toe area?
I use the cheap plastic trees, but I'm thinking of upgrading to cedar.
@@CharlesBecket yeh good move i think, absorb the moisture. If you find one with a really good tight fit for a ranger hopefully you'll share the name/make here
Great review, just ran out and bought me a pair🤙🤙
Which color / leather did you choose?
The same ones, the 2 tone copper, I love them
Even if they hurt my feet for a bit, I’m going to wear them till I break them in😂😂
@@Walternatorupdate?
I love them even more, I wear them all the time, is weird but cool at the same time on how some people gives me compliments on the boots 😂
Greetings from Ireland great review and lightning, definitely getting me a pair
Greetings, Cormac Bailey. Thanks for your kind words. And please give my best to Cobbler G if you ever run into him. Wishing you well.
I ordered a pair myself. Hopefully they fit
FWIW, I normally wear a 9 wide and I ordered a 9. It fit perfectly. If I would have been a 9D then maybe an 8 1/2 would have been the right fit. But again a 9 Wide fits this 9 very well. Thanks.
@@CharlesBecket Huh. I'm also a 9 wide. I also ordered a 9, so I should be good. Thanks man
I've had these boots for a year and have been very happy with them. Would love to get a pair of Iron Rangers next.
Which of the Iron Rangers are you eyeing?
@@CharlesBecket probably the amber harness color.
Those are boots, not fudge! 🟫😮
Got one in 9mm just like it, the seriel number starts with NN, trying to figure out the year of manufacture.
I just bought one just like yours but in 38 super.
Belle arme belle gueule puissance au rdv i love it
Cool gun! btw that 'punch' engraving you mentioned I'm pretty sure is laser engraving.
How does the inside of the slide look like?
Do you know any 45 acp brand with a black projectile?
Yes, Winchester used to make a defensive/carry ammunition called Black Talon. It took a lot of beating in the press as a unnecessarily inhumane round, causing too much damage to the body. Please keep in mind this was during the 90s and we had the Clinton administration and the Assault Weapons ban. Democrats were behind the smear campaign against Black Talons and Winchester finally just gave in and discontinued them somewhere around 2000. Happy Easter. Be well.
