Glaze Review: KyMudworks Kentucky Bluegrass | 7 Clays Tested | Cone 6 | Ceramic Arts Pottery Vlog
Today, I am going to be testing Kentucky bluegrass glaze from KYMudworks. All around this glaze fired to an eggshell semi-matte green on most of the tiles I tested here today. In some clay bodies, this glaze also gives lovely blue. This glaze has a lot interest and movement on textures. I suspect there is a crystal forming agent that is causes this glaze to become semi-matte on certain clay bodies. It would be worth testing it fired hotter to double check that theory. All around this glaze has a lot of potential, and is exciting with variant colors across different clay bodies and textures. For more glaze test videos, subscribe to my channel Blue Nose Trading.

Would purchase
😮 c’est un magnifique Mug … tu le vend combien ??
merci, ils coûtent actuellement 56USD
😍😍
It reminds me of a little acorn cup a pixie might drink out of- very cute and charming!
I love that so much! 🥺🥺
Ooh I love the blue flecks!
it's a neat touch. they have them in the glaze as chunky bits before you fire
This kiln is at the top of my list!!! Thank you for the video!
You will love it! It's an awesome kiln. :)
Love this!! Looks like some of my favorite wildflowers (golden poppies & blue bonnet) in a field! What was your technique?
For this one, I painted with Mayco stroke and coats directly onto a bisqued white stoneware mug with paintbrushes. :)
I’m so glad this video exists. I’m off to buy a shimpo lol
You will love it! Thanks for watching. :]
another helpful video, thanks!
thanks for watching! I'm glad to hear it was helpful. :]
Thanks for posting this, I'm just getting into ceramics and have a lot to learn- subscribed. I have never heard of a damp box before and it will definitely help me out in my next project, I assume you moisten the plaster?
Thanks for the sub! Damp boxes are super helpful and a staple in my studio. I keep the plaster wet by spraying it every so often; I kinda go by feel for when it needs increased moisture or not.
@ very good to know- thanks!
I spent too much time looking for a plastic bin with a smooth bottom to use for a mold and in the end had to settle for what looks like a litter box, which still has some little seams sticking up I need to shave off. Wish I'd thought of the cake pan idea!
Oh thank you so much for this video. It helped me tremendously to put together my new Shimpo slab roller table!😊
Thanks for watching! I'm glad it was helpful :)
I love that you’re teaching your kitty how to throw clay amazing🎉
She's always helping out in the studio! 😉
Whoa 😮really great one! What glaze combo is this
The top is a green I make in studio, and the bottom is Black Walnut by Mayco Colors.
🥰😊
What was the glaze?
this is a green that I mix myself ;)
Cute. Good job.
Thank you! 😊
Happy new year 2025
Happy New Year!
Very very helpful video. Thank you so much for making it. Love and support form uk
Glad it was helpful!
Can it only be used tabletop?
I'm sure you could get creative with the stand and your positioning to use it in a number of different ways. I didn't try myself though.
i saw your original video with the amathyst and it was quite this color did you add another color over top? i love it!
this is the same mug as from the test video, just with a different background and lighting.
what's the glaze on this one 😍
This is one of the glazes I made in house.
Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for watching!
OOoooo, I'd want one just like that but green and a sea turtle.
What if it's on the bottom that doesn't have kiln wash on it?
It's the same process. Depending on how much and how thick it was, sometimes it's just done, like mine was here.
Love your cat and your work😊
Thank you! 😊
i love this but i thought it was like a toothbrush holder cup, not a drinking cup. does it come with a lid?
You can put toothbrushes in it if you want. It comes exactly how it looks :)
Always loved the thumb type mugs, nice shape too 😉
Thank you so much! I love the effect this shape has on a few of my glazes :)
That’s gorgeous!!
Thank you so much! <3
That would be a great pot for a bonsai tree
Thanks, I think so too :)
So cute! I have an alley cat looks like her
She started as an alley cat, but I couldn't resist bringing her inside :D
So very beautiful.🙏 💗
Thank you so much!
SO CUTE, YOUR SO TALENTED!!
thank you so much! <3
thanks so much! looking to tumble some terracotta for a project and this was so helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching :)
I layer red gold on amaco iron yellow on my MN Clay Super White porcelain. It turns out beautifully every time.
That sounds amazing! Thanks for the tip, I will have to try it out. :)
Hey there I love your video! Just curious you said the ISO was for the air bubbles I saw you use it the second time in the sped up one but not in the first slower way through one. If you see this is there anyway you could explain how you use the ISO?
Thanks for watching it. I used it to spray the surface to break the cohesion of water that causes some surface air bubbles. It's main use to is make bubbles pop.
Thanks for sharing. I'm new in my pottery journey and find these really interesting. Also the black tile is my favorite 😲 😊
Thanks for watching! I hope these test videos are helpful for you. The black clay is one of my favorites, though she be a fickle mistress. ;)
Ooo nice
Thank you!
Hi bro, I know it's late but how much is it bro,I was asking ?
Thanks for watching! You can find current available variations of this mug at bluenosetrading.com/products/toasted-cream-speckled-stoneware-latte-mug
Great video, excellent comparison…yes I am a beginner and I need to buy one, you just help me a lot, thanks
I still have my Shimpo banding wheel and haven't regretted it once. Welcome to your clay journey! and thanks for watching :)
Does it make noise right away after firing?
No, it's a silent situation
Thank you! I impulsively bought this based on a sample test cup at my local ceramics store and needed some intel.
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching :)
Lovely!
Thank you! :]
That glaze!!! 😍
Thank you! It's a tea dust I make in studio. <3
❤beautiful! What cone do you fire at for glazed pieces ?
Thank you! I fire to cone 6 in electric oxidation :)
Hi. Your videos are awesome for a newbie trying to setup a small pottery studio. What are you turning your mood on to?
I've been jamming a Spotify custom hip-hop playlist here recently 🎧
Thanks for your reply. Didn’t check autocorrect or typo…I meant to ask what are turning your plaster mold unto? Is it a tile?
It's just a slab of plaster. I use it to wedge and reclaim clay. :)
@@marimaxwell3441 You can use a piece of foam if you have that.
Thank you so much for this. Really, really helpful. I was so relieved to see you had the same issues I was having, so it helped me not be so worried! The paper instructions for this that came in the box were HORRIBLE! So helpful to see you do this.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad I was able to help you, and congrats on your new roller. I hope it's a boon for your studio. 💗
I’ve been eyeballing this one, I’m in LOVE with their “Tigers Eye” color!!
Tigers eye is a great one, I need to make a video for it soon! This one is also very nice, and true to what I was expecting from it. :)
Hey guys. What are the clearance requirements for that kiln from the manufacturer? We're trying to find one that doesn't require 3' of space to each wall and it looks like yours does not. Thank you
I have a Skutt KM822. Skutt recommends at least 18" of clearance from walls. You can find more about their installation information here skutt.com/skutt-resources/resources-just-for-you/architectural-specifications/installation
Thanks for this. No one really talks about how to clean these!
You're totally welcome! I get this question a lot and I'm happy to help :)
